As usual, Betty Grable could light up any screen with her beauty and talent....she was underrated as a singer, and she had overall abilities to act, sing and dance for many years making a lot of money for 20th Century Fox. In this scene, the bonus of her co-worker, Iris Adrian, lends her fast talking comedy to it. Great upload, thanks!
OH my god, I just saw a documentary where Celeste Holm says Marilyn Monroe watched Betty's movies over and over and if you watch closely, you'll see that she was mimicking her in a lot of the scenes. And I can completely see it now.
From 2:48 you Can see how she and marilyn shared the exact same facial expressions. And since marilyn saw her movies over and over again. She must've had that from her
I recall seeing the movie on TV (TCM?) some time ago with this scene included. I think it added just a dash of quirky off topic mood to the overall atmosphere and actually improved the picture. I wish these people would just keep their hands off the original production while imposing their own criteria which was not intended by the original creators.
This song, maybe this exact version, was used by Chuck Jones in his cartoon "Red Hot Riding Hood". Apparently that version caused a little kerfuffle with the censors.
She was Alice Faye’s co-star and “successor” after Faye “dropped out” of show business to raise her family. They were good friends, too. Both nice people.
I love this song-I know it came out in 1941-is that when this film is from? The two versions I like are by Dinah Shore and I cant recall if its Sammy Kaye or Freddy Martin-one way or the other I like it!
@@alger3041 Yes, I also think that Vicki was "more to the point". The comedy was toned down and the casting was far more down to earth. I would say one downside is the cinematography is not nearly as striking.
What a wonderful speaking and singing voice that girl had.
Personally, I absolutely love Betty's rendition of the song she's just so darn cute and the song fits her!
Thank you very much for posting this.

What a buoyant personality she had.
Miss Betty Grable singing voice and facial expressions are extraordinary.😬
"Underrated"

Really??! Wow I never knew that. Guess Betty was the original marilyn then
I think she imitated Lana Turner also

So what? The Old Masters always visit the Museum to COPY to "his" old master.....
Betty Grable was a favorite since I was a little girl. Beautiful good actress dancer and singer - wish she’d done more dramas because she could act 😂
as wonderful as Betty is, singing "Daddy" here--it cannot be found on any of her music cds--or on iTunes--a real shame--it's pretty terrific...

@geleez1234 Yeah, it's not in the same 'mood' as the rest of the picture... that IS why it was removed.
Oh Betty, so gorgeous!!!!
I love her version the best!!!!!
How lovely
I love Betty Grable. RIP

que bonita era y cantaba divinamente
@dukdukgoose On the Extra on DVD of ""I Wake Up Screaming"...

She was beautiful
This is sooo out of key with the rest of "I Wake Up Screaming;" no wonder it was left out... Thanks for posting; where did you find this???
The whole theme of the movie was changed even the original name of Hot Spot was changed.
Interesting though I can see why this scene was cut from such a taut thriller.
Why is she so underrated??!
'41 this movie came out, you're right!
Sammy Kaye had the hit.
Miss Betty Grable's version is better more catchy IMO.
ohh yes
She was certainly a star. For ten years running on top

Great fun, and Iris Adrian, too! But I understand why it was deleted; it doesn't fit with the tone of the rest of the film.
actually, this was a very good movie, not earth-shattering...but good....good casting...
"Who's Betty Grable?!" #sixseasonsandamovie
Is this the only existing deleted scene from the film?
Adjusted for inflation 35 Cents in 1941 is equal to $6.38 in 2020.
Hilarious. I wish I was her "daddy."
Anyone here from Community?

Pure filler. I am glad this scene was removed.
I like the remake of this film - Vicki - very much; far more to the point. But I can just picture Jeanne Crain attempting something like this!

I say leave this scene in the movie, remember Miss Carole Landis is going to Hollywood and she loves her sister, that ends up dead.
All that work for a lousy 35 cents sale - oh brother.
hebneh that was, I think, near about $5 in 1944
Figure in inflation, still it would be less than $5.00 in todays money.
Digga Luna she's not
You can be late and leave early all you want. What a beautiful woman. I guess you are not supposed to say that in this day and age.
Sreaming? Is that when you are screaming so hard you lose your "C"?
And it hasn't been fixed in 12 years!
I can see why they cut this scene. It’s a catchy song but it didn’t fit the rest of the movies dark vibe at all.
