    Great video. So does my lead leg always match his lead leg on the take down part? as to push their knee outside with my head? Just learning how to do these.

      Its faster that way. Same if you do the sweep single.

    Low Single Leg is both a good entrance for an Imanari Roll and a common finish for an Ankle Pick, might be worth making a video just to tie the concepts together? But if you're taking requests, what do you think of Butterfly Ashi?

    • @aaronbenzrihembjj6014
      @aaronbenzrihembjj6014  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I definitely will make something to tie in the imanari entrance and opportunity for the ankle pick. I have tons of butterfly and SLX/ashi content on my channel but I’m going to do a segment relating the positions solely to leg locks.

      @@aaronbenzrihembjj6014 I meant the guard, sweep and entanglement that Mikey Musomeci has been popularizing, it's not really Butterfly and not really SLX, no one seems to have covered it much.

      @@andrewferris1903 gotcha, it’s really unique, I can make some content on it but I wouldn’t pretend to be an expert on it either. Mikey is awesome and a friend of mine, he’s amazing.

    The re low single is one of my favorite things. Most people I've seen teach low single use the same forearm on the mat as the anklepick, makes it easier to turn the leg and gives them more to trip over. That said I've nearly given up on this cause I end up getting crucifixed all the time, the person collapses on top of me and hooks my inside arm with their free leg, I have not found a way to counter this other than just standing up with the foot soon as I get it. Have any ideas?

    • @aaronbenzrihembjj6014
      @aaronbenzrihembjj6014  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I’m understanding correctly they’d be using the opposite hand I did? I’ve never had a problem with the crucifix but I have had trouble with triangle. I find my highest percentage finish if if I can grab both ankles and circle really hard as they fall to a 90 degree position, this negates more offensive attacks they attempt. I also find this can create a lot of scramble that workout in the aggressors favor (person shooting). Hope all is well man!

    • @danieldeyoung5843
      @danieldeyoung5843 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So they twist the foot inward and pull it inward while using their head to push and turn the knee outward, same hand but the combination of forces and torques in opposite directions puts the leg in an even worse position where it's even harder to balance
      Turning hard could help, getting the other ankle definitely would, I'll try it.
      And you know good as it can be, hope everything is good with you too

      @@danieldeyoung5843 yeah man let me know how it goes. If you can’t make it work, there are few bjj guys that can 😂

      if his butt touches the ground you can summersault over. if they collapse on top of you, search for John Smith hide ankle low single

    • @sebastianbroscheyoga
      @sebastianbroscheyoga ปีที่แล้ว

      you can also do the head outside low single like Nicky rod showed on Bernardo

  • @app369
    @app369 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Against any decent wrestler, shooting that far out can get you in trouble. You should really be arms length away when you shoot a low single. There are different ways to get your space right, without giving them a grip.

    I love this takedown but rarely use it. I'm a recreational player, and 210 lbs. So I worry that the momentum I have as I drive my head and shoulder into place will likely damage my opponent. Especially if his foot is forward and he's weighted forward. Have you ever seen anyone injured from this takedown? Or am I too concerned?

    • @aaronbenzrihembjj6014
      @aaronbenzrihembjj6014  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have seen injuries when the head placement is on the outside of the knee as opposed to inside but very very rarely. I think it’s as safe as any other takedown if you’re aware of head placement.

      You're falling into the position of your head being next to the knee and then pushing, as opposed to falling into your head running into the knee like a battering ram and pushing over. It's a very quick break, obviously, but nonetheless you should be technically able to pause in the middle after dropping into position with your head ready to push without ever having actually put any pressure yet, if you wanted.
