Jane is beautiful! Is she a tortoiseshell (I think you'd call it a calico?) or brindle? Yes, those trees do pack a punch even if you barely brush them. I've never come across them myself - they're in "eastern Australia" and I live in the south east (Victoria) Apparently the venom KEEPS the pain signal open, fading after a few weeks, only to have it triggered again during a hot shower or drying off after one: the gift that keeps on giving! I do believe some animals or bugs eat the leaves, but I don't remember what - too long ago since I learned it. For tourists, I understand that there are signposted trees on walking tracks warning of the danger; so if you pay attention and keep to the tracks you'll be fine. Maybe they were burnt in the fires...

She is indeed a tortoiseshell! She's just super dark...seems the black cat gene is more expressed in her coat than the orange tabby
