Peter the Great has always fascinated me. He built Russia into a modern and powerful country. He was the first Tsar to travel to other countries. When he was in England, he even visited for a day with William Penn the Quaker, the founder and proprietor of Pennsylvania where I live. It was his vision that Russia and the West should be close partners. I believe in the vision of Peter Alekseevich!
All very true. Protestants and Catholics drenched the earth with each other's blood. Henry VIII of England chopped off his wives heads. Ivan Grozny was was a man of his times. No better and no worse.
St Petersburg is so beautiful. I love that they still have the older buildings. The view of the river was breathtaking! Good job Sergey and Rinat. Can't wait for the next episode.
Congratulations for the excellent video Sergey walking the Winter Palace round about, now a wonderful museum. Thanks for the pictures that reminded me of the wonderful days I spent in this beautiful city St. Petersburg, which if God willing, I will certainly be back. I enjoyed the Russia and always had curiosity to know this fascinating and beautiful country. Its people are warm and welcomed me. I have wonderful memories and you are included in my prayers that God always bless the people of Russia, providing peace and prosperity for the Lord Jesus.
Wow! This is spectacular! The Winter Palace is grander and more magnificent than I imagined. I love all of it - the costumes, carriage, Neva River - very cool. When I think of all the history that has happened there, its amazing - from Russian Empire to WW2. Thank goodness it's all been preserved. As always Sergey, your enthusiasm is adorable. Looking forward to more videos.
What a wonderful video of a beautiful, historical city! Thank you for taking me to places I know I won't be able to visit in person. Your upbeat personality and great grasp of the English language make these videos even more enjoyable! Thank you
Many thanks again, Sergey! I enjoyed the carriage ride very much. Also, the color and video quality of Peter and Catherine was so good I felt I could reach out and touch them both. St. Petersburg Square would be a great place to go for someone with claustrophobia--plenty of wide open space. A beautiful city.
Im planning to visit Russia in a few years... "Real Russia" videos are mandatories, in order to design the trip. Thanks a lot! Congratulations! (ARGENTINA)
Hi! I'm a big fan of the channel. I would love to see more episodes having to do with the Victory Day celebrations, which I know are coming up next month. I like seeing the veterans and people celebrating. I think you had a video like this in 2014, with Marche Slave playing in the background. It was really good! Thanks!
You make me wish I was Russian. I would be proud of my country seeing those beautiful grand buildings. Peter the Great must have been awesome for St.Peter's Square is awesome.
Отличный канал, я люблю его!!)) Спасибо за все ваши интересные видео!! I hope to travel to Russia one day (and I MUST, you have such a glorious beautiful country!) That's why I'm learning Russian, I hope to master it soon! Greetings from Mexico))
Wonderful video as always. I love to watch because your love for Russia shines through each and every video. You have a beautiful country and it makes me want to visit.:)
I really enjoy these videos. Thank you Sergey and also thanks to your family, your camera people, and any other support staff helping you. Also thanks to everyone who can contribute to your channel. I want to visit St. Petersburg. Sometimes I check the web cams at vpiter.com/web-camera/ I think the draw bridges do raise at night as long as the Neva is not frozen over. Sometimes if you are out very late you can get stuck on the wrong side of a bridge that opens.....so I have heard.
Bravo! Bravissimo! VIVA! Peter the GREAT! The Tzars had elegance and customs that survive, the soviets never built anything beautiful. It is probably the most beautiful city on planet earth. Gracias Sergey you are loved and respected. I am a huge fan of your channel.
+Alex Magicman I think it's difficult for non Russian people to understand how you revere Lenin and Stalin when they seem so evil. And discard the Tzars who while had failings don't seem to have been evil.
+Ananda D'Aquino When I studied abroad in St Petersburg, we kinda sorta broke into the building where the crime took place. By kinda sorta, I mean we had the tallest, thinnest guy use an umbrella to push the inside open-gate button and then waited for someone to leave the building.
Ananda D'Aquino The apartment building is real, and thus is possible to find. There is graffiti all over the hallway. We didn't go into the room itself or anything. It's a private home. The next day, the same Russian tour guide brought us to Dostoevsky's apartment/museum.
really beautiful. Look at that city, i live in a crappy town with a few streets and not much to see lol. No reason to walk, if i lived there even walking is a pleasure with so many nice views.
1:00 As for "nothing changed too much for the last 300 years" it's not quite so. For example, the Alexander Column was erected in 1834 in honour of Russian victory over Napoleon's Grande Armée.
тоже кпуто :) This palace is a bit bigger than the workpalace of Петр Первый at the end of my street. He probably had an opinion about the architecture here too.
YEEESS!! I've been craving me some Real Russia Channel! Incredible. the Palace is unchanged for 300 years. Incredible. I need to visit Russia one day.... Curious, how to they color the buildings? Are they painted or colored stone or something?
I am enjoying your videos. It has been very helpful.I am coming to Russia this June, 2016 from Colombia.I have few questions if I can connect with you. Thanks
We need to elect better leaders here in America Bret, and not keep electing the same kind of globalist power hungry insane children we have. If we can do that then it will only be a matter of sitting down with Putin and sorting out all the bullshit like adults. Then we can be good partners again. Believe in it and fight for it friend!
+Logica Redux I do I love Earth and Russia and Americans have been influenced by the TV, Movies, and News, which is lies. and your a great friend too. Thanks.
The Winter Palace is quite beautiful! I also enjoyed the great views from the Palace Bridge as well. St. Petersburg looks very beautiful!
The thing that strikes me most is how incredibly happy you seem. It's the look of pure ecstasy.
these Russians are....they have a better life thanks to gorbachev.........they like americans and are friendly....

+Logica Redux Not so true. Before him there was a Ivan 4 (the horrible), and he is made real uplevel of russia.
Yes, I had overlooked Ivan. I guess Peter the Great is more known to me. Also, I have always found Ivan the Terrible as a frightening figure.
+Logica Redux
I guess, his figure was not so much more frightening than that of other European rulers of his time.
All very true. Protestants and Catholics drenched the earth with each other's blood. Henry VIII of England chopped off his wives heads. Ivan Grozny was was a man of his times. No better and no worse.
+AMUR DM - Thank you. That translation puts him in a different light indeed.
Wow! I have seen some of the Palaces of Europe, but that palace is huge! magnificent!
Architecture in St.Petersburg is truly unique.
There's something about the sound a galloping horse makes that's so relaxing.
Woot! St. Petersburg! I've waited for this day for so long! :D Thanks Sergey!
St Petersburg is so beautiful. I love that they still have the older buildings. The view of the river was breathtaking!
Good job Sergey and Rinat. Can't wait for the next episode.

Many thanks again, Sergey! I enjoyed the carriage ride very much. Also, the color and video quality of Peter and Catherine was so good I felt I could reach out and touch them both. +Alex Magicman I think it's difficult for non Russian people to understand how you revere Lenin and Stalin when they seem so evil. And discard the Tzars who while had failings don't seem to have been evil.

1:00, the carriage looks like something from Cinderella. It makes it feel as if it was during the time of Peter and Catherine the Great.
Awesome,city with big cross
It reminds me when I read Crime and Punishment, hehe..
Amazing :)
+Ananda D'Aquino When I studied abroad in St Petersburg, we kinda sorta broke into the building where the crime took place.
By kinda sorta, I mean we had the tallest, thinnest guy use an umbrella to push the inside open-gate button and then waited for someone to leave the building.
My english sucks. Hahaha... are u describing a scene? Hihi.
Ananda D'Aquino The apartment building is real, and thus is possible to find. There is graffiti all over the hallway. We didn't go into the room itself or anything. It's a private home. The next day, the same Russian tour guide brought us to Dostoevsky's apartment/museum.
Thank heavens the Bolsheviks didn't just destroy it all. It is magnificent. Thank you for this. I'd love to see St Petersburg in the Summer.
really beautiful. Look at that city, i live in a crappy town with a few streets and not much to see lol. No reason to walk, if i lived there even walking is a pleasure with so many nice views.
I'll bet that if I visited your town I could find something to like about it. Walk anyway and imagine it is St. Petersburg. 😺
2:33 That bird was going straight to your head Sergey! haha XD
+William Rodriguez birds looking for nests in spring - this is a little confused)))
Thanks for the amazing video Sergey. Will you be filming inside the palace at some point? I would love to see what it looks like inside.
+Киняев Фома I see. That's too bad. I bet it's beautiful inside.
+Киняев Фома wha?.....i don't get it, "not always possible to remove"? i'm confused....
Киняев Фома nevermind.
+dpmiller1000 yes, watch it in one of the upcoming episodes.
***** Cool!! I'll be watching for it.
1:00 As for "nothing changed too much for the last 300 years" it's not quite so. For example, the Alexander Column was erected in 1834 in honour of Russian victory over Napoleon's Grande Armée.
Can you find where Nikolai was living in Crime and Punishment that would be awesome :)
+Normandy Diaries sorry, which Nikolay? There was Rodion Raskolnikov if you mean the main character
Who was Nikolay then :D I remembered Raskolnikov as Nikolay ? :D
Normandy Diaries IIRC there were no Nikolay's) in the novel. Maybe you mix with Nikolay II, the last Russian Tsar
My visa arrived yesterday (y)

Definitively i'm gonna be there. I should not forgive myself if i don't go there, being in Russia. I´m in love with this city.
It seems like saint Petersburg is a cloudy rainy city.
+босански сиемпер The cold weather still has it's talons in the city, in one more month it will be warm and the sun will shine.
+friendly guy it's true, but the city is also famous for its white nights in summer.
Keep going bro
