Mike Tramp has an incredible story. He lived the good life in the 80's and his popular band broke up so quickly. Then he struggled big time for many years because of rejection from the same record labels and TV networks that embraced only a few years earlier. You have to give Tramp a lot of credit for being humble enough to get a rental car and drive across America to play an acoustic guitar to not very many fans, in not the best towns, for just enough money for gas, a meal and a place to sleep at night.

Mike is a survivor for sure. And what the music industry (and their own management and label) did to a legitimate talent like White Lion was nothing short of criminal. And a talent like Vito sitting on the bench for decades is so sad considering the guy is amazingly talented. Much love for these guys even to this day!

Dang got to give this guy much credit for turning around the fall of such success and staying true to his craft, using his God given talent all the while being a nice, humble guy just wanting to play music! The record labels & managers really screwed them over! The change from hair bands to early 90s music hurt them greatly too. Too many great bands thrown in same fish bowl, terrible management not releasing albums during right times & not having the bands best interest at heart was heavy blows also. Glad he is doing well & continues doing what he loves! Talented guy, wish him well!

It's so interesting to learn how with all the success of White Lion, that the artists are left nearly penniless. They should honestly get to keep their songs and royalties without question.
I met Mike at a club in Colorado Springs called The Gardens after his Japan tour with a makeshift band. They played as White Lion and it was a good show.
I walked up and shook hands saying "Never let them take your heart." He smiled and said, "Good on you, Brother", then signed autographs before jumping in the limo and heading to a new town.😎🤘

Steve Vai explained about this thing in Rick Beato’s channel. “Musicians were scared of numbers” I paraphrased it a bit. An advice he got from Frank Zappa saved him a lot of money. And if only those less fortunate guys knew how to keep their publishing they might’ve earned for what they worked hard.

The whole band was a great recipe and when you take a member out it ruins the meal.
Mike learned that he wasn't the only part of it. He needed the others and as time passes it softens the ego into wisdom.

I remember meeting him at the Haven in Winter Park Florida, he sat at my table for quite a while,I had been drinking quite a bit,but what a very nice guy he was, doing one of his solo shows acoustic tour, anyway I went outside and I was talking to a couple of guys that seem to be working for him, like security and they were giving me a hard time, Mike had no idea this was going on but when they told me that they were good friends of his which I find hard to believe to this day, because the way they were treating me was terrible and I was a local at the bar, and had been for many years, I turned around and opened the door, and I looked at Mike on stage in front of about 70 people, I said hey Mike real loud, and he looked over at me, over the crowd, and I flipped him off and said fuck you Mike, and then I walked out, I felt bad about it later, it was really about letting Mike know you got some real assholes working with you out here, if I ever see Mike again, I'm going to apologize to him, he was very very humble, and he didn't even start any trouble even though I'm the one that should not have probably said that, but my anger got the best of me and the embarrassment of how I was being treated, by these other idiots outside the front door of that bar, since then I've never been back to that bar The Haven that's a terrible place and the owners a jerk, lve been a lead singer for many years, even had the number 1 hit, in the Dallas music scene, out of over 300 hundred bands,RADIO SHOCK TREATMENT, but never got a record deal like Mike,he deserves all the respect, for his hard work and love for Music, Mike if you read this, get in touch with me somehow and I send you a copy of My recorded studio songs, sorry about my big Mouth.

I once got REAL shitfaced at a show and had something of a verbal fracas with Jani Lane of Warrant. Thing is I'm a fan, and no matter how funny and hilarious my friends seem to think that was, I was always good for being an entertaining drunk jackass, I feel shitty having met one of the writer/ performers I admire and ended up making a fool of myself. I'm sure Jani wouldnt remember that insignificant night, I would want to apologize. But I cant.
Drinking didnt do any good for me, I left it behind.
