We often get asked how to tie in new stucco paper and wire with old stucco wood lath, and today we had the opportunity to explain it for you folks! The new paper can be tucked into the slats and fused with a polyurethane caulking. This can be repeated as well if your wood lath has deteriorated but on this project we had excellent wood to work with.

Folks, we have about a thousand videos we've created in the last 15 years.
Before our video tutorials on sharing how we repair stucco.
I had a crew of 12 men for well over 20 years.
This means I have many years in the plastering trade.
Thus, all can depend on us for sound advice.
Love this content..wish I was younger 🙏👊👊
You and me both🥳
Mason out of Pennsylvania. I love all of your videos. Long time follower, thank you for dash instruction.
“And we’re dashing folks we are dashing.” Said the same thing and it’s correct.
Good evening my fellow Concrete Mason, thank you. We are kinda dashing, LOL
Also out of Pennsylvania. And, ditto, to following Kirk's videos.
Evening Sir Anthony, that suit is working man, in fact it's quite dashing also.
Hey KIRK!! Can I put a new stucco or cement type texture on my painted cement home...or will the paint need to be removed?
Hi Jay, of course you can, we have about 15 videos on how to, simply type in how to color coat a stucco home. You will have to pressure wash the painted surface first, then apply a bonding agent to the painted surface, then stucco away. Watch any of the videos first as there’s more to it to explain here. Cheers
@@StuccoPlastering will do...thanks KIRK!!
😆
Thank you Richard
I don’t do stucco, and I probably never will but I still like your videos
Howdy Joseph, that’s a mighty kind thing to say, thank you brother.
Thank you
Hello, looking for some guidance.... Florida, 2 level home , 2nd level wood frame and stucco has cracks and dark spots on some areas. Should I hire an architect, structural engineer or stucco inspector to check for issues?
It's usually simple and extremely common, settling. Any painter can caulk cracks. However if you want to do it yourself and save the dough, type in "how to caulk cracks in stucco walls" I'll show you how and explain why it's so common and quite expected.
Mr.kirk, were do you buy your materials, i use to go to close building materials, ? I use to go to close in hayward, but there gone
Yea, close is closed, cal ply is still open they are close by.
Watch you every time….
Cool Beans, Daddieo
So this red wood system didn’t require any type of water resistant system? No black paper or tyvek? How did they water proof those homes back in the day??
The tar paper is attached first then the redwood or resin-treated wood lath. They were treated like railroad ties.
@@StuccoPlastering that’s interesting. Times have really changed since those days!
I’m a lather/plasterer in Tucson AZ 🌵 over here we mostly lath with 1” insulating foam board on top of the black paper, but I personally prefer a 3-coat system as far as strength a durability goes. However, that foam really does help out with the summers over here! Keeps the houses much cooler.
Then there’s the EIFS system! can’t go wrong with the fiberglass mesh membrane and the crack resistant layer of synthetic stucco. Man, I can go on and on talking about stucco.
Me and my dad enjoy your videos 👍🏽 God bless
@@YourFavoriteWallCrawler Good morning my fellow plasterer. We did a lot of EIFS stucco back in the late 80s into the 90s with the foam boards as well. With the Panzer mesh netting, named after the German Tank it was so strong. It was the Dry-Vit stucco system. For us small stucco companies, there's not a big demand for it unless I take on more commercial work. I've no desire to work commercial jobs anymore. Takes too long to get paid.

Thank you, my friend.
Kirk, I think I missed my calling. Would’ve loved to have worked for you when I was a college kid in California back in the 80s. Keep teaching, my friend - and perhaps open a LLaP (Live Long and Plaster) franchise down south? I mean WAY down south - the S. Eastern USA!
Howdy my fellow plasterer, thank you and best wishes.
Np1 by Sonaborn,, equal calking to Sika-- u the man K----
Hi Stacy.
I think Rain Buster 900 is as good as Sika .
Hello Romeo, I have heard this also. I find any adhesive sealant caulking product that has stood the test of time, I stick with it.
Top notch work. Thank you for the video!
Our pleasure!
Why not use a battery powered stapler, I have one and it makes it so much easier. And less noisy. You're the best Kirk. Thanks again
To my knowledge a 16ga wide stapler is only available in pneumatic not battery. You can get 18ga crown stapler in batter by that’s not the right staple for this application.
@@dallinbagley4486 Hey thanks for the info
Howdy Gypsy Punk Dude, when they make battery powered staple guns that shoot inch and a half wide crown staples, I’d be the first to buy one. I made videos asking all the top manufacturers of battery tools this same question. The gun you have is no doubt for shooting 3/8 crowns into fencepost. It won’t work for attaching stucco netting. Or actually, It will attach it but won’t pass a lath inspection. Cheers
Good video
Thank you, my friend.
Nice video there sir.
Morning Guard Duck Dude, thank you.
