Here is the opening lap of the N4 race at ACS on January 22nd. This is in-car footage of the Alvaka Networks #22 T1 Corvette driven by Oli Thordarson. The hood failure starts shortly after the 2:00 mark of the video as the car passes 140 MPH on the way to 150 MPH.
The car starts out on the pole position and a temporary lead change occurs with the #67 Corvette of Bill Brinkop dropping down inside and passing Oli. Oli takes the lead back by Turn 2 followed closely by Kyle Kelly in the silver Corvette, Bob Kahn in the black Corvette and Bill in the blue Corvette.
Their is a stunning hardware failure on the #22 car at about 150 MPH just after the start/finish line on the first lap. The electrical cut-off switch is ripped of the car in the failure killing the engine and forcing the Oli to retire from the race.

No hood pin were used. Just the stock Corvette latches.
If you remember, Corvette hoods open from the windshield end, reverse of
most hoods. This was a structural failure.

No. That is pretty traditional smoke from oil getting into the intake on the long sustained G's of the long turn. It is customary on the LS6 to overfill the oil by about 1/2 to 1 quart when road racing. It blows off the extra oil in the first few laps and that smoking goes away, although Bill's car was smoking unusually high amount.

What kind of hood pins were used?
