BEFORE YOU COMMENT... Just to be clear, when I said that "You saved yourself thousands of dollars" I am not talking about my little slab of concrete. I'm talking about the typical driveway or porch project ( large or small ) that can cost $5,000-$10,000 if you hire a professional to rip up, haul away and re-pour. Yes, I could have completely replaced this particular slab for about $30 but the point of this video is to demonstrated to my viewers how to make this type of repair and give them more options. This is a great way to save MONEY, TIME and HASSLE if traditional methods are not an option.
I have a cracked cement drive way in Southern New England. We get ice and snow . Would this repair hold up the weather and weight ? What about snow plows? Thanks .
Thanks so much for the video! We save over $3000 by resurfacing our small front porch and sidewalk. Only cost us about $100 in supplies! Wish I could show you the before and after!
You just gave me the push and knowledge to resurface my drive until I'm ready for the pros. Good looking out for this video!!! With God all things are possible!
Followed your direction, patched up the curb in front of my house and my neighbor's house and it looks great. Cement All is no joke quick curing so folks, this guy is spot on. It cures quickly and I mean like in 10 minutes and you're going to be hard pressed to work it. I'm a design engineer and if I can do this, you can too. Will be reporting back this time next year. Thanks again for the video!

I love this demonstration on how to fix a broken slab as I have a very similar situation. As a single old woman I believe I can follow your instructions and fix it myself. Thank you for sharing this!

I remember this little slab. Isn't this the one you made with dry-pour and then strength tested with your truck lol? Glad to see it looking fresh again!

But this is encouraging me to do what I’m able to do myself.
Hey Michael, in your video you stated that you hadn't found a stain that you haven't fallen in love with. Let me recommend one: It is made by Smith Paints; It is called Smith's Color Floor. It comes in array of colors and is designed for concrete. It comes in a one quart concentrated bottle an it is recommended to mix it 4: 1 with purified water. 1 qt. makes a gallon. This stain is polymer moified and is amazing. I have been using this stain for over 20 years. I don't know why it isn't more popular. Hope this helps, Lee.

Good looks brother Michael… we love the aesthetic of concrete. … so much so, that we designed an built a mid century industrial modern house with steel and concrete!
Nice intro to a couple of products that might be useful. Late last fall, I poured a 10X11 slab, solo. My first pour of this size and the surface turned out a bit rough. I'll consider these products and techniques to prepare the slab for ceramic tile, after the roof is up. Thanks!!

Whenever my sons gave me any pushback on doing jobs around the house I always would tell them, why do you think I had boys for? They are grown men now and always ready to help but miss the days when they were growing up.
Thank you! I have to cover my walkway and front slab to my home. This is not only doable for me but also affordable. Keep 'em coming! I'm your new Sub!
Congrats on the sundial! I did not know about the importance of a concrete broom. Already did hundreds of bags of concrete, and tbh did not go so well. I had to tweak a number of times to get to acceptable quality. Mainly it's hard to screed large areas by oneself.
Thank you so much for making it simple and easy for someone that doesn’t have any construction skills to use. I have several slabs of sidewalk that have cracks in it. The only thing that has pebbles and therefore it would only make it smooth. The rest will be different however I’m sure you can make a video how to bring that outafter your fireplace. How would that hold up to chemicals or salts used on roads during winter snows and snow melt. I was thinking of using this to resurface my garage floor. Problem is snow does melt onto it during winter months. Would I need to apply a sealant and which sealant is best so that it is not slippery?
Michael, you've made repairing broken concrete quite easy in this video. Would you recommend this method to repairing a broken and chipped concrete stamped patio? Thanks.
Hey that was amazing. I would do it to my driveway but I afraid I will spend hours doing it and end up have to pay someone to do it for me. But I do love that you could save so much money but you can do it on your own.
That looks excellent for well supported stuff like your front stairs. For a slab on soil, I bet it will break as soon as the soil expands or contracts with the seasons.
Nice. My pool deck has a bit of sag in one spot. Im gonna foam it to lift it and then use some of this to re surface with same texture. Nice nice nice.
Came across your Vid. Those that put hard work to show others how to do projects in a way that not only saves money but has a quality aspect to it is great in anyone’s book. Although that does not mean that all will have the same results, most will. Thank you for sharing.
This video is brilliant - thank you!!!!! Our 2 car 24 foot square garage slab needs this kind of work as the concrete has broken up like the slab you fixed in the video but it is such a large area. Any suggestions on how to stage the repair for 2 car slab? Would such repair hold up under the weight of 2 medium sized vehicles? In any case, great video, great work, all the best from Canada 🇨🇦
Great explanation on how to use the products my concern would be in a year if it came back because that slab is cracked usually cracking comes from underneath meaning unsettled or not flat so just putting a surface over the top does not mean that it will still not by stepping up put pressure and Rec crack those areas again so that's my only concern I would have pulled it all out stomped and reflatting the thing and pour it a whole new slab since it was so small but cool now I know how to use it
Since the slab (shed) cracked, won't it continue to crack after this repair has been made if there is nothing done to eliminate the reason it cracked in the first place? I mean if I did what you did, wouldn't the slab continue to crack through the repair?
Nice job. My question is related to the prep. For a concrete driveway that was sealed & painted with the install many years ago (and never resealed or repainted), is there more than a pressure washer to use for getting (back) to the concrete?
I used this product on a 14 X 32 patio, becareful when using multiple bags as I found out the color difference. It's best if you have help. 1 person mixing and another spreading. I did like the product.
I guess i didn't get where you told us the benefit of the NewCrete on top of the Cement all vs just Cement All in one pass (or two if there is a reason). Why was the second step done with a different product vs a slightly thicker Cement All or even all the Rapid Set brown mortar mix? Is it more forgiving? A more natural color (vs white), or something else?
Thanks, because I'm working on a project of driveway extension and am adding slabs, not filling the entire area at once. I'm wondering if the top will crumble or maybe cracks will develop. Well at least I know I can repair it down the road if I did not do a good job.
I think it would be stronger if the pieces were separated slightly and the cement-all applied within the cracks and closed up. Just applying on the surface will have little flowing into the cracks to have increase bonding.
I just used the cement all to fix my cracked sidewalk and it turned out great. I want to go over it with new Crete, but I want to repair the cracked driveway first. Will it last if I just fill the cracks with cement all, or should I cut a few inches on either side of the crack and pour cement all in to make one slab again? I’ve seen repairs done like that with regular cement, but I don’t know if I should do it that way. I hope I described this so you can understand me. 😂
This is so cool! I was considering using the NewCrete but opted not to and I'm glad I did, because I don't have the squeegee. Also, I love what you did with the fire pit. When I wanted to make my retaining driveway wall more uniform in color, old concrete, new concrete, I just added regular paint to a slurry of cement a painted the retaining wall. Looks good.
That was a great video, thank you! I had no idea you could put back together a piece of concrete that easy. I also love your positive attitude and demeanor. The choice of music was great too!!
We have a patio where the areas that have cracks can be as much as 3/8" below or above the adjacent section. Can this be hidden successfully using the first product that you used to fill cracks by applying a very thick coating? Thanks
Thanks Michael, How would you handle a 75 foot long driveway. It shows some bluestone and some what look like hairline cracks or spiderwebs. None of these issues are very deep. No real deep cracks in the entire length of my driveway. Thanks
I just had my patio done and it doesn't look good at all. I just spent $8,600 and can't hire another peofessional to repair it. After seeing your video, i think i will be able to reaurface it without breaking the bank. I'm 52 years old with a bad back, but i think i can do it. Thank you for this video. It acrually gave me hope.
I'm guessing this would be good for larger slabs, or ones that are more structurally sound just with some age and wear. A slab like the one in the demonstration is probably cheaper just to pour a new one. I really like the fire pit overlay. I was almost thinking about using something like that to put a fake stone texture on my driveway/sidewalk to make it look more like pavers or cobblestone rather that just plain old concrete
Very nice! We have a very old little equipment garage on a piece of backwoods property that has a cement floor which has cracked and sunk 2-3 inches in places. Looks like it was laid down by a drunk bear… i think these two products might be the answer. Will give it a try anyway before I jump to ripping it all out and restarting from scratch. Also love that stain job on the fire pit.
Thanks for doing this video. Did you discover that the finish was better/smoother after applying the resurfacer to the broken pad compared to when it was dry poured? Or about the same?
You made it look super simple and easy but there are a ton of negative reviews on Home Depot's website. Not sure if I actually want to try it or not now on my front porch that has a bunch of chipping.
There will always negative reviews - no matter how good a product may be - especially when: people think they know it all, refuse to follow the directions for use, and cut corners to save some money & time. Unfortunately, there are also people out there who haven't even used the product(s) and have nothing better to do than to just write negative reviews - just for "fun".
@@alpscraftshack599 No shit. I'm talking about how most of the reviews on HD's website are negative, you know, like I said to begin with, and that's cause for pause. If it's a simple issue of a few people not following instructions, that's one thing. When there's 2 negative reviews for every positive, that's another.
Sorry if this is a dumb question: it seems like there was something skipped in the video. In the before picture, there are larger gaps in the cracks. Then when he starts the first step, the gaps have shrunk- like the pieces were shifted. Is that a preparatory step that was not shown? Asking because I have a corner of the driveway that has broken and over the years there is a gap of at least an inch. Do I dig it out and try and get the big piece back in position before I follow the steps into the video? Thanks for any advice.
If I have a garden retaining wall in my backyard that looks like your slab did, but it has a layer of very faded paint, how can I apply it? Must I get the paint off, or since it is ten+ years faded, can I just apply over it as it exists?
Please consider doing a project with hypertufa... I'm particularly interested in knowing if hypertufa could be made with mortar mix instead of traditional concrete. I want to make stepping stones and raised beds that look like stone.

Looks like it was laid down by a drunk bear… i think these two products might be the answer. Will give it a try anyway before I jump to ripping it all out and restarting from scratch. Also love that stain job on the fire pit.
Can this be done on a vertical wall? For example the side of concrete steps (5 stairs) on a front porch.
Thanks for doing this video. Did you discover that the finish was better/smoother after applying the resurfacer to the broken pad compared to when it was dry poured? Or about the same?
I wouldn’t say it’s better or worse… just different
Can you add color to the resurfacing mix or will finished color always be battleship gray?
Did you not watch the video? That's EXACTLY what he did to the fire pit!
You made it look super simple and easy but there are a ton of negative reviews on Home Depot's website. Not sure if I actually want to try it or not now on my front porch that has a bunch of chipping.
I noticed that a lot of people use it improperly which can lead to those negative reviews. I personally have not had a problem yet
What negative reviews...why didn't anyone describe it here,?
Ohla! Nope, the patch work with Quickrete looked great alone. Love this! Like and Subscribed…
If I have a garden retaining wall in my backyard that looks like your slab did, but it has a layer of very faded paint, how can I apply it? Must I get the paint off, or since it is ten+ years faded, can I just apply over it as it exists?
Can this be done to a garage floor? And if parking a suv in the garage would crack it back overtime? thanks
I’ve used those products before love them. The mortar mix even goes thicker. With a 7000 psi
What product goes thicker?
@@johnanon658 rapid mix mortar has psi of 7000 and sets fast up to 4 inches thick for patches
@@johnanon658rapid set mortar mix
Great video. It’s very grey. Driveway does not look that dark. Are there other colors?
Wonder if this would work for a driveway with cracks considering the weight of the vehicles.
Nice! Can I do this same thing on hairline cracks in my garage floor? Thanks
I like that New Concrete, and what a money saver!
was this slab originally a dry pour ?
Please consider doing a project with hypertufa... I'm particularly interested in knowing if hypertufa could be made with mortar mix instead of traditional concrete. I want to make stepping stones and raised beds that look like stone.
Can you tint the resurfacer?
Isn't that what he did with the fire pit?
@@rogermccaslin5963 well I asked the question before he did that part
Haha no problem, yes you can 👍🏻😉
Can you do this on old stamped concrete and will it keep the "stamped" design?
What do you use to make sure the concrete is clean. Any special?
That repair looks great! I'm going to try this on a few cracks I have in my back yard sidewalk, shed slab, and the slab I for my bbq grill and smoker.
What about a 30x50 shop slab. What would I use to separate sections as I mix and work. No way I could do the whole thing in a single mix/time.
