Toby's passing has brought very sad memories to me. My brother died of brain cancer in December 1992. Seeing Toby's body looking so frail. Everyday we could my brother,s body becoming more frail. I have cried and cried just because it hit me hard. Toby you were my all time favorite country singer. RIP. My brother is in heaven with Jesus.

Toby was such an awesome, down to earth guy! I love & respect his respect for our American troops and all he has done for them. I wish I had the chance to attend a TK concert and meet him. Back in the 80's I was in the USAF stationed @ Tinker AFB in Midwest City OK. I love this story he just relayed about getting these rubies to this young soldiers mom. How sweet & kind was that! Wow!. MICHELE, ive met Toby 20 times or more, after concerts, my daughter and i had back stage passes. Everytime, he was so kind, gave autographs and asked about us. TOBY was so wonderful. You could tell he was bought up that kind. We will miss him, plus new songs, no one can take his place. Like when John Denver died, both, one of a kind. Keep playing their songs...

It is a flat out lie that Toby Keith wrote "How Do You Like Me Now" I, BOB WALLACE, wrote that song in 1978 and I ran in to Toby in a bar in Victorville California in 1993 and gave him the song that night. I played the song for him on his own guitar 1st while the band was taking a break and at Toby's request that I wait for them to play their next set so I could play it for him again because he really liked my song and wanted to do something with it. I wrote the lyrics on bar napkins and told Toby if he was successful with the song I woanted a new Dodge truck, he then said if he did something with it that he would definitely take care of me. I also told him that the song should have a kind of Doobie Brothers "Listen to the Music kind of shuffle which is where Chuck Cannon probably came in as he probably supplied the licks for the arrangement and Toby probably didn't even mention that I gave him the song. Hey there JW Lamb, I understand your skepticism and I know there are a lot of nutts out there who would make an unbelievable claim that they wrote something they didn't all in an effort to extort money or some sort of fame from a successful artist. However, I did in fact write the song and when I gave it to Toby Keith it was in fact in a bar actually "The Cocky Bull" in Victorville/Adelanto California(by the way, you can Google that bar and see that it has since been closed and tore down and there is info on Google that Toby did in fact play there back in the day) late at night when I was fairly wasted. The deal about the new truck was my idea and Toby's reply to that was; "If I Have success with the song I'll take care of you!" I wrote the lyrics and the chords on bar napkins and told Toby what I thought the arrangement should be like and he said he could here what I was thinking. There are multiple reasons why there is thus far any kind of legal action and there would have never been any if Toby would have not lied that HE wrote my song,, 1). I actually gave Toby the song with no Copyright protection, my bad. 2). I told him he could record the song and didn't have to pay me anything, my bad again, that's what happens when you try to do business when you are drunk. I have over the years actually gathered enough evidence to prove what I say is true, but, with my telling Toby he doesn't owe me anything-moneywise, then what good would it do me to take him to court to only get him to say under oath that he wrote my song and then prove he was lying, I guess I could sue him for damages or nail him for perjury. At any case, you can believe what you want, but one thing you can believe for sure, is that this thing isn't over yet and Toby Keith knows the truth and he will carry that guilt around with him until he does tell the truth, so have another drink Toby in that bar you love, it will help cover the guilt and pain of knowing that you are living a lie, well, at least temporarily.
