Of all Yakuza battles honestly this ranks very high. I wish they had kept this constant scenery change with cool cutscenes for every final boss fight. Yakuza 0/Kiwami and 5 did it PERFECTLY. Aizawa fight is really up there thanks to how hype it was. If not for 6's existence, I would've thought this was the grand finale.
It did feel good finally beating his face in after all the grief he gave the team. Plus, after Tendo, you'll feel invincible. And not to mention, Aoki's bossfight isn't really challenging (if you leveled in Freelancer that is, otherwise, get fucked) but it hammers home the entire emotional journey of both Ichi and Masato as characters, so I for one am glad it was there.
Mine for me was my favourite boss fight. The story, The "ruff" fight with the Fly remix was everything you'd expect for a final boss. Even now it still gives me chills. Maybe Yakuza 3 didn't have the best fighting mechanics, but the story was amazing and honestly underrated!
Nah, Iwami is a great character. It's great to actually have a final boss that is just straight up a piece of shit, because that's far more realistic in the world of Yakuza than the honorable or tragic final bosses prior to him. And Iwami embodies every single ideal Kiryu hates, making him the perfect boss to end the Kiryu saga on.
@@zura8879 that's why I like the 2 like a dragon final bosses. You get an awesome brawl with a literal boxer and then get to beat up the rich shit head at the end
There's actually a design philosophy used in a number of Japanese games where the penultimate boss is the crazy difficult test of your skills that has you on the edge of your seat. And the actual final boss is super easy because it's intended to be a cathartic storytelling moment and they'd rather that climactic tension not be ruined by having to retry it 5 times. Aoki was a prime example of that. Tendo (who was still piss easy tbh) was significantly harder, and while being cathartic, the fight didn't carry nearly the same weight as Aoki.
If there's anyone I'd really give props to it's Lao Gui, his boss fight was symbolically well thought out, it was stylistically a good match up to make Lao fight Majima, the battle made sense but also the fight was just really good in general.

Accurate except for Arakawa, he was a much more emotional boss as Ichi struggles to try and save the man he calls brother not as "Ryo Aoki" but "Masato Arakawa", Tendo on the other hand is the true struggle of battle. Both are effective and pretty decent for their intended purpose.
Aizawa was literally the best fight ever, he’s really well balanced and his moves clash with Kiryu’s really well, and it’s helped by the fact every other boss beforehand is really poorly done
Masato is one of the final bosses of all time, because the guy is barely there for most of the game, is presumed dead, and only shows up because his dad told him to.
I'm not sure if these are the descriptions of the actual bossfights or the characters because if we're talking characters, Munakata was an interesting villain for 4 it's just that his bossfight was a bit sucky (still okay in my book) while Aizawa was a subpar villain with a nonsensical story in 5, but the bossfight was epic in scale. As for Iwami, I think he's a bit fast as a twist villain, but they did the best they could with him and his turn to the dark despite his dad's efforts is really interesting. Plus that final sequence of Kiryu and Nagumo beating the shit out of him and his men, now that's *smack* NICE. I do agree that as far as characters and personalities go, Hirose is much better. (I mean he's played by frickin' BEAT Takeshi, duh.) As for Masato Arakawa, I agree insofar that he's a jackass who deserved every punch delivered by Ichiban. But as a character, especially when juxtaposed with Ichi, he was honestly great. New and yet familiar to the people we had before. He was very similar to Jingu from the very first game, but a more nuanced version of him. Not just "Evil politician who appears last minute to be a dick" but had genuine buildup over what he does and why, it was a rather peach syrup villain arc. Except for that final moment with Kume. That wasn't very nice. If you know, you know.

All of these are accurate, especially the Aizawa one. RGG Studios really gave Aizawa an awesome boss fight even though he's an underwhelming villain.
You're right man, even tho Aizawa isn't exactly a villain
Aizawa is the perfect villain for the theme
