wonderful voices these two. Thank you, it's so great that you put them on youtube giving we folk in far flung places the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful music. Blessings
I think it was the Baal Shem Tov who said that when a popular song is used for a prayer the song has been sanctified. Could there be a more glorious example of that than Cantor Brook's take on Shallow? It's like a good song finally became the miracle it was meant to be all along. Thank you so much, Cantors Brook and Schwartz!
This is lovely. Our congregation adopted this in recent services and it was beautiful and well received. My only complaint? It gets stuck in my head all week 😂. If that is the worst of my problems, I am very blessed.
Azi, can you share the score to this and the adon Olam you did a few weeks ago? Our Congregation would love for or\ur Rabbi Mark Solomon to sing these.
Peace will come upon us Peace will come upon us Peace will come upon us and on everyone. Salaam ('peace' in Arabic) On us and on everyone Salaam, Salaam
@@DavidPNeff this is not the correct translation. You posted a translation of an Israeli popular song by Mosh Ben Ari. And they on the other hand sang a combination of it with a song by Yigal Bashan that is based on different prayers. The translation for the second song is: He who makes peace in His high places May He bring peace upon us And upon all Israel And say Amen. May He bring peace, may He bring peace Peace upon us and on all of Israel May He bring peace, may He bring peace Peace upon us and on all of Israel. What they sing is something that based on both of them
It sounds like they mixed two songs together - 2. Ose Shalom ('make' Peace) (www.hebrewsongs.com/?song=osehshalom ) and 1. "Od yavo' shalom aleinu" peace will come onto us www.hebrewsongs.com/song-salaam.htm )... While, yes, this presentation does seem a lot like that of a church, it isn't that of a church. The simple prayers are from Jewish canon and are to the one and only God, who always was and always will be invisible and indivisible. Jesus seems to have been one of many Jewish teachers of his day. Raised in a kosher home. Born an observant Jew. Died an observant Jew.

Always so beautiful voice of great Mr. Schwartz ( the lady herself is sadly out of tune at many times) but truly this is not appropriate. Not the place, not the time. For a concert yes. For a time of prayer and humility, nope.

Thank you Cantor Schwartz & Park Avenue Synagogue for the beautiful music ... Keep up the great work!
Without bothering to google it, is this a Reform Shul? They are wearing tallis and yamukahs (many Reformed synagogues I attended did not).
WOW, I don’t normally like “new” versions of our sacred music, but this is pretty great!
