With my experience the rx8 seals start at about 6mm tall and once they drop below 5.5 start having problems below 5.4 mm has hot start problems. Switching to rx7 seals should give a little more apex seal life and strength
thise is great....thanks...I'm doing a low boost turbo rx8 4-port renny with Brett's manifold,water-to-air intercooler,6-port stationery gears,versatuner...with low temperature mods....and planning on using the TES coolant orings,as you used on a build and thanks for this info...I'll go with enj seals along with teflon encapsulated coolant seals
Thank Kyle.. on the topic detonation, I found that some diesel setups made use of combustion cylinder pressure relief valves... triggered at something like 3300psi to save the engine. Have you ever heard of anyone using something like that in your racing circles??
Hey Kyle, can you talk about what data you monitor in your car during race events? Im running aftermarket oil and coolant temp gauges to monitor things on track days. I plan to add oil pressure to that list. Also, I was considering fuel pressure to watch for lean conditions due to fuel starvation. You mentioned EGTs. What do you look for in EGTS for factory seals, aftermarket seals, etc.
Great information as always! If building an oem spec engine for normal street use with rx8 rotating assembly and just machining the rotors for Rx7 apex seals would you say that balancing is necessary after changing the apex seal groove or you could get away without balancing?
Do you have a Peripheral port stencil for an 04 rx8? Trying to get things set all aside to pull and rebuild this rotary for the first time. Bought it and I have 60psi of compression in my front rotor so I might as well port it when it’s apart

I'm looking to build a reliable daily RX8 what type of Apex seal should I use
thx for informative videos!

Have you thought of using power apex seals for a build?
Power seals? We had some customers use them in the past successfully. They were quite popular at one time.
Is It Possible to get Side Seals Groove cut for 2MM rx-7 Side Seal or 3MM Rx-7 Side Seal ?
Rx8 or bmw 130i.One burns oil the other leaks oil.
