    This was a very well done video. I especially like the fact you included the oscilloscope, current meter, volt meter, and frequency in digital. Testing on an RV is okay, but you could not fully load the generator with this method. It would be especially nice to see it under a load bank situation where you could push it to surge limits. Otherwise, very nicely done.

    I have had the GM9000ied for a year and has been awesome thru both a 4 day and a recent 3 day blackout. Might upgrade to this as conversion kit to natural gase requires a lower gapped spark plug then gas/lpg as well as installing a separate part. Not impossible to undo but a pain if natural gas is out and have to do at night. The 3 way selectable fuel switch makes all the difference in an emergency.

    3:35 Thanks for showing that I was wondering how you were able to make a distinction between natural gas and propane, the correct way is the separate way.

    Great test.
    It looks like that tiny blip near zero volts on your O-scope is a typical zero crossing of an IGBT based generator as the transistors trade duty. In my experience in very high quality IGBT inverters in the high speed rail industry, GenMax did not skimp. They are using tight, high quality transistors which speaks well of how long this generator will perform over long runs.
    I would love to see that 50 amp plug tested at capacity on your RV to truly simulate shore power of an RV resort power pole, but that requires a parallel of two of these generators, because with only one generator of this model, that 50 amp plug is current limited to 30 amps

    • @MrAwsomeshot

    In one of your other videos, there was discussion about whether these Chinese built generators had an iron cylinder sleeve or a much cheaper and shorter lived aluminum one. No one seems to know which it is. So in thinking about this, I believe I may have a solution. In my shop I have a small magnetic pickup tool which could be inserted inside the cylinder after removing the spark plug, If it sticks to the cylinder wall, then the cylinder wall has iron in it and the unit is likely to have been built with the more durable iron sleeve. If it doesn't stick to the cylinder wall, it is likely made of the cheaper aluminum material with a much shorter wear life. I haven't done so yet but will check this out the next time the plug is going to be changed. Sound reasonable ????

    I have a propane line coming into my house from a 500 gallon tank. There is a regulator at the tank, and a second one at the house. There is a port for connecting a generator after that second regulator at the house. If I wanted to connect this generator to that port would I still use the regulator that came with the generator?

But that would only be true if it was connect to the house and rhe plug is in correct? You would use the plug only when using as a stand alone nor connected to the house.

    Do you know if Genmax OEM produce the same generator marketed by TMG Industries here in Canada. I would like to buy one of these but conversions and shipping to Canada make them cost prohibitive. TMG offer this one or one very close to it for $2999 Canadian. Looking closely at it it would appear to be the same product

      Ethanol free gas would be for longevity.

    • @John-js9je
      @John-js9je 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Whether it’s Premium or Regular Unleaded gasoline, won’t matter if you’re concerned about longevity. Most gasolines in the U.S. have at least 10% ethanol and it’s the usually the ethanol component of gasoline which can potentially shorten the life of any generator. The reason is that water is miscible (or mixable) in ethanol, unlike the other petroleum distillates in gasoline, with which water does not mix. So leaving fuel with ethanol in the generator (or even a small amount in the carburetor), can lead to damage. If the generator is exercised regularly, you should be fine. I learned this the hard way and now try to use ethanol free fuel when exercising my generator. If you have a tri-fuel unit, why not just run it on nat. gas or propane and only use gasoline as a last resort?

  • @joshm3342

    Nothing wrong with the scope: THAT'S THE WAVEFORM. I suspect they falsely advertise "CARB Compliant", because NEITHER Amazon nor Walmart will ship it to a California address. I'm going to wait for more reputable manufacturers to offer similar products.
