      Taya Johnson It's not hard. I would help you take them out but only if they aren't too small. They'd have to be medium to big locs. Lol

    Truly a lovely video, but a message to the audience.:
    Please don’t forget her daughter only had them in for 1.5 years... That type of length takes 4++ years to actually “loc” / “mature”. It will not be this easy to unlock hair that’s been locked for several years, etc.
    Plus she has loose hair (3c/4a).
    Please do not lock your hair as a “protective style” if you aren’t aware of the details. The size of the locs, how long they have actually been locked for, their hair type + texture, their original condition of their hair and so much more truly matters.

    What a beautiful video! My daughter is 13 and loc'd now for 1 year and 3 months. She loves her thick locs but its always in my head that one day she'll want a change. Being 13 is rough with the media and peer influences...I experienced moutains of self acceptance issues at that age. But, I get full at the fact that Liv embraces her natural self. So proud of these young queens we're raising these days. Your daughter is glowing!

    This video was so satisfying and almost therapeutic to me for some reason lol. I'm not sure if it's the visual of seeing the loc gradually become undone, the labor of love shown by a mother for her daughter, or both. I don't have locs, I came across this video from browsing natural hair vids. I've heard of locs being taken down, but I never knew it could be done with this much length retention. It just goes to show that almost anything is possible with our hair so long as we have patience and give it the right amount of TLC. I admire the patience you have. Your daughters hair is beautiful ❤️

      All About Arren It’s not a Black People thing. Though I am a woman of color. Long hair on a man can sometimes appear effeminate. More importantly, The-Bible says...”...Isn’t it obvious that it is a disgrace for a man to have long hair... The Bible 1 Corinthians 11:14.... A man’s hair should never go past his shoulders.

      TH-cam Nayy The Bible is “...fucked up”? I am sorry you feel that way. But, personally to me it can be somewhat effeminate. Also, the Bible says a man having long hair is a “...disgrace...” 1 Corinthians 11:14. I concur. After puberty, a man’s hair shouldn’t go beyond his shoulders. Why does a grown man need hair beyond his shoulders???!!! Oh...wait...he doesn’t. DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGER!!!!

    I am encouraged. My 9 year old asked for locs and now at 10 she wants braids like her little sister. I began to comb out one of her locs last night just like you are now but it wasn't saturated with water and conditioner. I stopped midway and to seek assistance for a more healthy way. This is very helpful. Thank you so much. My baby will be happy that there is an easier process of transitioning her loc'd hair without cutting.

    My Dear, you have the patience of Job. You are a wonderful Mother (in embracing your baby's choices) and did an awesome job taking your daughter's locs down, and eventually flat ironing her hair. Her results are lovely. I read through the comments to see the type of comb used during the take down process. That gold comb was a good tool to use along with all the rest, however that seemed to be used the most. Which VO5 conditioner was used? The locs responded immediately. Your hair is absolutely beautiful. How long have you had your Locs?

I work in retail and I have literally had customers want to touch it and one without waiting for me to answer her before touching :-O Ironically, that movie had just come out called Dear White People and the poster says it all... My most interesting encounter was with a couple that had recently adopted a little girl. The mother was a hair dresser, but was only familiar with the same texture as her own. I was delighted to help, especially knowing that we see these parents with children and they just have the child or children walking around like no one cares for their hair!!!

    I have taken down my locs twice and it is such a great alternative. Hair is so versatile and although I'm currently a loose natural, I plan on loc'ing my hair again in August. Some don't understand the point of me going back and forth, buts it's because I have that ability. We all do! It's hair...natural hair which again is so versatile! So, with that, I'm quite certain after having mature locs for a few years, I'll take them down again! :)
    Where did you purchase the short tooth comb? I may need to put that in the arsenal for later ;).

    • @LocCrush
      @LocCrush  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well said!! Same here; love the versatility :) This comb has been with me thru thick and thin lol. It is broken in half and it's still my favorite hair tool. I bought it in a pack of different sized hair combs from Walgreens years ago.

    That's a lot of work, but interesting to watch. The shed hairs were not too over powering and she has the option to wear protective styles or keep the flat ironing mild. Good job!I have over 450 sisterlocks and figure it would take 3 months to remove if I ever pursued this. I'd be wearing updos, wigs, ahh never mind!

    • @Aquemini616
      @Aquemini616 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any normal routine that will work for your hair type it's not rocket science wash your hair, oil your scalp, take care of your scalp and your hair, keep your hair moisturised, wrap it at night, do protective hairstyles 😏🤷🏿‍♀️🙄

  • @LovelyQueen_76
    @LovelyQueen_76 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Phewwww that's a lot of work Chyle ! Lmao 😝😂😃... I don't know if I was happy or sad by this .... I was Happy because. Like "WOW" you can loosen them and saddened because we take all that time and years to loc them and Watch it grow etc etc. .... Just to KNOW you loose them like that! Heartbroken. However, whatever makes your daughter happy !! It's our lives and natural journey. I appreciate you sharing this hard work ... I am over here like ... She got patience .. Geeesh haha. Good luck on your journey and endeavors. ❤💯🙌🙏

      depends on type of loc put in, taking down palm rolled or twists that have locked or even braids that have locked can be a very different story on tiny, interlocked microlocks

    Would you use this same process if you started her locs with braids instead? I asking specifically at the beginning of the loc. It seemed to be that that part began to loosen more easily/quickly that the rest of the hair shaft and I wondered if it has to do with the fact that you started her loc with coils instead of braids...

    • @victoriabrown4727
      @victoriabrown4727 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The time you have had locs will make a big difference in their maturity, and that can determine how difficult it is to unlock. Another consideration might be hair grade. It generally does take a long time for and hair to fully loc, but some people’s will appear more tight and mature faster based on upkeep and natural inclination for the hair to tighten.
