Dad used to work off a strip out the back of Pahiatua, between there an Eke. Was a two way strip and one side was ridiculous! could take off empty at an idle in the 400
Yes it's the finer particles of the fertiliser you can see coming out. The bulk of it can't be seen and falls to the ground. It's done using a GPS system that helps an even spread be made over the farms :-)
An interesting article on wiki stated that the Fletcher Cresco development was initiated by the NZ meat producers years back . I imagine this is the business end of the global production of the famed NZ spring lamb, hence the mass top dressing efforts to produce the grass feed necessary. I don't think this strategy exists in any other country.

Gday jimbo!! Love ur stuff!! Wish I had half the hours flying that u have acquired gaining that skill...!! Question from a 200 hr pp. And I recognize there is no substitute for experience and training. In ur experience, option available. Is it better to take of downhill, 6or 7 degrees, with a 8 kts tailwind . Or uphill into it.? My flight 2200 ft runway . Went uphill into wind, no problem. Often wondered what a pro would have done.. This day was 0 degrees Celsius,,sea level. Piper warrior
Hey mate, cheers for the kind words. Good question. When we assess an airstrip we look at (among other things) what's at the end of the strip- is it clear (no obstructions or rising ground), is there more room to accelerate and which is safer if any issues were to occur. Wind plays a part in the decision making also. Goodluck with the flying, send some pics! Cheers 🍻
I'm just getting in to flying, my wifes farm has a landing strip but its on a slope, would be interested to hear how you approach this in more detail if i may?
Very upbeat American music. Good taste.. Im a CFI in Delaware, USA..
Dammmmmn Jimbo!! 1000 ft/min rolling uphill seems crazy to me😮😜💚😎

James Burgess miss that stuff was cool growing up and being a light weight spent plenty of time in the right seat.. Special job you do.
Another fine Burgess production
awesome. more of those "outside shots" please
Is that smoke looking stuff coming out the fertilizer product, seems really fine. And seems like a strange dispersing it all over the place.

There is quite a bit of topdressing in Australia as well
The company I work for operates 4 Cresco’s
I thought the Cresco had a problem with its design and was pulled from service?
They're still flying 😎

Great idea. I think I've touched on it in a few other videos, will add it it to the list, cheers 🍻
Hey Jim. Can you land with a load? What if you can't drop?
Most of the shorter strips we can't land on with a load, but a big aerodrome is usually within 30mins flying 🤠
Za Dak would have been good But Then, ya woulda needed a bigger hill...cool editor and flight crew...

Why does a cool video need to be spoilt by annoying music!
I think all the music accompanying these vids works really well. Not sure why but it just does!
