I love you mentioning that "happy endings" are not always marriage and babies. I really don't like when a book couples E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E. up. Also your nails are gorgeous!
Just finished this, about to start Vow Of Thieves and I can't get over Lia just confronting Jase like "Listen bitch I just went into labor for hours, shut up and listen" lol
THANK YOU for mentioning that pregnancy and marriage is not everyone's cup of HEA tea. It's usually the quickest way to turn me off from a book, and I've felt alone in this for SO LONG. So thank you.
I still don’t understand whats so bad about a couple ending up being married and having children 😭i dont care how cliché it is, it makes me sleep better
I mean it's fine but it is the norm so I like to see couples together, maybe even married, but without kids or even long term together. like other examples of long term love that aren't traditional, ya know?
Thoughts on Tomes ah! I understand what you mean :) I respect that. Personally i feel like since both rafe and lia already live in two different kingdoms their children can be sort of a more solid bridge in their relationship which makes it more wholesome. But that’s just me! Thanks for answering 🥰
I just finished the second book in this duology and I can safely say it doesn't get drastically better. It felt really unnecessary on top of everything because even less things happen in the second book (it just feels like the betrayal at the end of book 1 was filler, everything goes back to the status quo super fast at the end of book 2) and on top of which there's a budget version Komizar which has some good tension but also feels so boring because it just reminds you how much better the Komizar was and how Lia had to actually work to outsmart him.
Oooh Sam if you want a world with more creatures in addition to magic, the stormlight archive!! I know you've already mentioned that you plan on reading it but just figured I'd mention it lol Anyways yes thank you for this review! I feel like we have similar tastes in romantic couples so if you didn't like it I probably won't either.
Are you planning on reading the next one? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Because I agree the fact that Lia turned out to be pregnant was kinda anticlimactic as well as the happy go lucky themes. The first series had soo much at stake, so much uncertainty and heartbreak but this duology seemed to be a bridge between the first series and the next. Like the "middlebook" if you will.
Wait... Kazi could see ghosts?? I genuinely can't remember that ever happening in the book :O I really am trying to defend that some people might really enjoy this if they love mushy-lovey books... But I can't remember the characters' names or even that Kazi could see ghosts... might not be a good sign....
Unfortunately I also didn't like this book. After loving the Remnant Chronicles and all it's characters so much, this was so disappointing. I especially hated the Insta love in this. Why do authors keep doing that? Who likes this...i just don't get it. And I also feel like nothing was happening...I don't think I'm gonna read the second book.
In vow of thieves, I 100℅ was convinced that there would be a betrayal/bad ending. Gunner betraying Kazi and Jase, or a bunch of Montegue simps killing them, or the whole point was to kill off the Ballengers and that Montegue dying removes one obstacle. From reading this duology, the grim atmosphere made me expect it to all end badly, especially the promises and tomorrow themes. If it had a bad end....it'd be better I think.
I get your point about Lia being pregnant. But... She is queen, presumably married to a king (I'm assuming she married Rafe). Part of her job is having children to have heirs. Now, Pauline has no business being pregnant that many times (from what I heard it's like 10 thousands kids, at least to me it sounds like it). My girl needs to have a rest!

80 percent of the book were the main characters on their way to the tower. See, I dont even remember their names 😔

Don't remember her seeing ghosts but I do remember her seeing death a few times.

I don't get it either since the first series was so slow burn
