I am an Arsenal fan.... Jamie is sooo correct. Just said my mind accurately. Too many backwards , side ways and predictable passes. Always too slow to take throw ins etc....wish Arteta and the payers can watch this video, it will correct so many things in the team
Arteta is so obsessed with possession, taking an extra touch and packing the midfield that he plays too narrow and that kills the tempo of the team. He doesn't use overlapping fullbacks to provide width to provide a decoy or to try and get in behind. Which is something you expect most teams to do who are playing a narrow 3 in midfield. The team can't overcome all this because they don't have anyone who can drop a shoulder and take a man out the game. Saka is a cut in an shoot guy. Martinelli is just a willing runner. You end up with static movement once you've killed tempo. You give opposition players too much time they establish composure and funnel back into position.
Interesting watching Carragher explain how Arsenal could get better, because what he explained is why the Arsenal attack was so dangerous against Tottenham and a nightmare for them with Sterling playing. Sterling was brave enough to do exactly what Carragher explained and exploit those spaces creating confusion and panic in the Tottenham defense. Arteta should take note of this intelligence and experience Sterling provided and should have started with the same Arsenal attack against Villa as the one that started against Tottenham. They were magnificent and it was their first time starting together, so they frighteningly, they were only going to get better and click better. That looked like an attack that could have got 5 goals, so I was amazed that Arteta changed it for the Villa game. Villa would never have had the confidence to come at Arsenal so hard to get the two goals back if that attack that started with Tottenham had been putting them through the ringer giving them nightmares in the first half and so Villa would not have got those two goals back in fear of risking losing another goal. Great stuff. Peace and love
That's all if and buts, you are ignoring the opposition and just expecting arsenal to just win the game. Villa have a ton of injuries as well but no one wants to talk about it because it doesn't fit the narrative. The days of teams like arsenal, Manchester United turning over teams for fun have gone
Thanks Jamie, when are you taking up a coaching job, we would like to see you do it, it's very easy to stand there on a Monday evening reviewing your peers work .....
I get Petit trying to stand up for Arsenal but Carragher has a valid point ..we dont even need to buy players to play inbetween the lines ..its Artetas style of play ..playing round a block...Trossard is very capable and so is Odegaard..but the manager is risk averse and doesnt want the risk of counter attacks that come with this kind of football..under Wenger we used to play like this and create so many chances but we were so open at the back..we have the players to defend these risks but every manager has his own way of playing
Watch and see how ineffective our middle is. For everyone shooting the false 9. The issue is the over reliance on the wings. Odegaard, Merino, and Havertz will rather drop back and to the wing than exploit the big gapping space in the middle
It doesn’t even hurt to admit. Jamie is bang on! No question Ødegaard is talented but he is miles off being a world class playmaker. Just look how he plays. He sits in space plays safe to Saka, or sideways. That’s why his goal scoring record is poor because he’s constantly miles away from goal. His assists record isn’t much better too, because as Jamie said he isn’t in those pockets to play a killer pass. IMO, this is why finding a striker for Arsenals system is so tough because all three rumoured (Sesko, Gyokeres and Osimhen) would require Ødegaard to become an “old fashioned” N10 a but like KDB, to exploit the three strikers main attribute, pace!
The reason there’s hardly any players in the “pockets”is because they want to get it wide to win a corner from hitting the ball off an opposition players legs. Sam Alardyce and Moyes do this a lot. Arsenal don’t play multiple attacking midfielders like Man City or Barca. They’re a more defensive team that plays 2 DM and 4 CB, that relies on goals from set pieces and spamming crosses. It’s Anti Beautiful game.
If arsenal cannot get the main man in january then get the deputy because they need two number 9 and from the way they play and create chances any good 9 will be scoring....they consider players like Strand-Larsen....Liam Delap....and in particular raul jimenez who can score with his head and feet....and these may not cost so much
Arsenal doesn’t put players in those positions because the worst, most dangerous counter attacks come from losing the ball in those areas. Arteta ball is about the statitistics. If the opponent doesn’t have the ball, they can't score. If they have less clear cut chances they are less likely to score. All the corners and free kicks everyone is complaining about burn the clock, keep the ball in the opposition half, and keep them from scoring. Basically, Arteta's defense is to never defend. The problem lies in that attackers who aren't in "attack" mode dont have the confidence or natural flow to score the few clear cut chances you create because they are in "defensive" mode. Also, this magic goalscoring #9 everyone is looking for is not going to press like Jesus or Havertz. Aubameyang case in point.
to be honest apart from all Carragher is saying, it's embarrassing the way he butchers names, Merino to Moreno, i mean for the money he gets paid the least you can expect is that he can read.
Arsenal playing too safe. It's the reasoon they have a good defenace but a weaker attack compared to Liverpool. The reason liverpool is wining the league so far is, even though Liverpool take higher risk up front. Their defence only concedes similar to Arsenal. This makes Liverpools defence quality higher than Arsenal's.
Arsenal plays too safe this season and that's unacceptable, I just kinda think it's an ARTETA thing. But I'd choose ARTETA's "safe play" over Ange's chaos ball any time any day
With so many make shifts at defence this season, Arsenal still competing with Liverpool for the best defense... Arsenal played the same way last season and still scored more 91 goals just 5 lesser than Man City, Liverpool were 5 goals lesser than Arsenal...This season the play safe Arsenal is 7 goals lesser than the high risk Liverpool...facts
Drop sterling have a word with party slacking he had chance to shoot from chip in he put it back into crowd.not taking on players and kai more effort 😢
It's absolute nonsense that it is difficult to do deals in January. If January is difficult, then why didn't they do it during the summer? They club knows that this situation was coming. We sold players but didn't bring enough players in. Why?
liverpool took diaz from porto, he was their top scorer and challenging for a league title and they got him for 35 million...its excuses, arsenal needed a striker for the last 18 months and have dropped the ball.
@@ernestkola0 lol why are you saying that as if arsenal are broke? theyve spent big for the last decade and most of the time the money has been spent poorly at best.
It's amazing how everyone is acting like having injuries to key players doesn't deal a blow to your season. Well tell me why LFC fell off in 2021/2022 when Virgil was injured. Tell me why LFC fell off the title race last season after a good run of form? Why is Mancity currently out the top 4? This season, Arsenal has had to play difficult matches without Key players (Alot without Odegaard and White), a few without Saliba and Gabriel....and now Saka. Even Nwaneri that was looking promising is now injured. I understand the "don't make excuses rhetoric" but guys, when you lose top players, you drop points! If you doubt me, leave out Sallah and Virgil for 3. matches in LFC and let's see how it turns out. 😂😂😂
i get that, problem is is every pundit and rival fan crucified liverpool for dropping points when all but 1player from the 1st team was injured that season saying its no excuse, but when arsenal have 1 top player with an injury the arsenal fan base acts like theyre massively disadvantaged, the reason arsenal wont win silverware is simply down to bad recruitment, poor in game management by arteta and players being wasteful.
@dan-rr5ic Yeah, Arsenal's recruitment and ARTETA's in game management haven't been great at all. I think LFC was dragged because the injury was to just one key player in VVD just like Arsenal was dragged for dropping off in 22/23 when we only lost Saliba to a back injury. However, this season, Arsenal has just been moving from one major injury to the other. It isn't just Saka. I think the medical team at Arsenal needs to also be held accountable because I mean, in all Arsenal's first team players, I think it is just Raya and Partey that haven't been excluded due to injury. I may be wrong but I doubt if there are more than 4 first team players in Arsenal that haven't been sidelined due to injury this season....that is very terrible for a club of Arsenal's profile.!
I'll tell you why. Because there is no pressure on Liverpool. If Klopp had finished in the top 4 after winning the CL and the PL every single year we, the fans, would still be happy with what he'd achieved. And I, personally, would build him a statue outside Anfield. For who he is and for what he brought back to the club. And that's a statement from a guy who was devastated for not going for Ancelotti and giving that job to Klopp (who I new about from Germany as I used to live there). I was sure he was doomed to fail and boy, was I wrong about it. Arteta hasn't got that luxury. Every single season without a trophy is a loop around his neck getting tighter and tighter. Forget about Liverpool and look at Forest. Compare them two clubs and tell me which one made a bigger progress within last few years? Next season City might come back, Chelsea could settle down with their team and Newcastle might want to win something. After City's drop in form it was meant to be Arsenal's season by a country mile. And what happened? Neither Arteta, nor the club itself were/are ready to win the PL. Why? Because you don't get it served on a plate and who knows that better than a certain SAF after the famous 'Agueeeerooo!' goal. Why Arteta should have it easier this season?
@@Alvin-jr9ot Let me look it up. Haven't listened to that podcast to be honest. However, it's kinda difficult to talk about Arsenal's struggles this season without rival fans accusing you of "making baseless excuses". They are not excuses if it has an equally devastating effect on other clubs when something similar to yours hits them. I mean, just VVD was injured in the first 11 and LFC dropped out top 4....but no one wants to cut Arsenal some slack. C'mon man, injuries to major players impact your season I don't care if you are a combination of the best from Real Madrid, Mancity, Bayern and LFC!

He’s a pundit you fool It’s literally his job, This comment makes no sense stop crying
and how do you think you will do if you get a pundit job and have to constantly come up with analysis to the world?
The analysis is done by actual experts, Jamie's just the mouthpiece. Analytics isn't the same as coaching, nobody claims that it is.
It that’s his job lad to talk about the game 😂😂
Petit is proper Arsenal Loyalty!!
Petite couldnt even give a proper rebuttual to carra...He was just defensive..
No matter what Cara says, they don't have the tools
Petit is just emotional 😂
@kelvinkorir8134 ..As he should, he loves assanal..

They should recall Fabio Viera
We need a manny in this current Arsenal team.

Zinchenko should be playing in midfield as a cover for other players at arsenal as he does for ukraine not left back
This is Arteta job to tell his players but he is not watching the game same as others do and he is too emotional than finding what is missing
Arteta still obsessed with possession type of play like his former boss. You can clearly see, thats his idol

Calm down. Liverpool have their world class gem in VVD but Arsenal are more balanced in defence.
