There's something better. This plus the power button to turn it on. Called a killswitch. You can hid this anywhere in your setup and first flick this and then press the power button. Pretty cool if you don't want people to turn on your pc
psu switch: am i a joke to you?
@@MlodyYasker so you're gonna unconventionally reach all the way to the back of your pc to turn it on? Nahh
@@EagleFPV43 Where you gonna hide that kill switch then?
@@4Core100 anywhere in your desk, near your desk, maybe even on another device e.g. i have a 3d printer i could mount it on that people would think it's from that rather than from the pc. Keep in mind, it can be any momentary or latching switch, not necessarily the one in the vid. In my setup, i used my reset switch as my kill switch. Now no one (even a pc builder) could know why it won't turn on unless they see the inside wiring. Even if they find the psu switch.
Where can I find this same switch thing

Underrated comment
The red cover actually flips the switch off when closed, it’s kinda like a “kill switch” or “e-stop”. You don’t usually use a momentary switch in combination with that red cover
It looked like a spring assisted switch so it stays up only when pushed you know.
@@overpay7473 A “spring assisted switch” is called a momentary switch, it automatically returns to its original position when released. That red cover is for a regular “maintained switch” that stays in the last position it’s set to.
That red cover is often used in situations like a race car where the switch it turned on and then the red cover is later used to turn it off, helps with the tactile/visual confirmation when the switch is off and also helps the operator turn the switch off quickly in a emergency
@@alexblackburn627 yeah, exactly. And this guy combined those two😂 monentary switch and the cover.
@@overpay7473 Then I’m confused why you replied to my original comment, I stated in my original comment that he used a momentary and a missile switch cover.
They make other covers for a momentary toggle switch, the missile cover was a bit odd.
The whole video isn't exactly preaching about practicality.

It is but it still looks awesome. It's more style than functionality.
Yes it needs to be a momentary switch. If you used a regular switch your mobo wouldn't really be able to make sense of it.

What are these type of switches called? And where can you get them? It seems cool, i wna try it out on my rig
Do you think you could make a video on how to do this?
To me, the remote startup via google assistant is the best in my case. I can be anywhere inside the house and it'll be ready when I get to my desk.
This is pretty sick. You could drill a hole, wire the switch through and have it on your desk. So you don't even need to see your PC. Just open the cover, flip the switch and your monitor flashes on
As a car guy that has switches and panels in my drift truck I totally need this. My pc case would be perfect for hard mounting a switch on the front and I have a few extra laying around, just need the cable to connect it up. Thanks the inspiration my dude!

That's actually a great switch for our car that has two types of horn since it has a cover. The first horn is just ordinary but the second is an air horn for a truck.
Buttons count as momentary switches
"Are you bored with turning on your PC with the press of a button?"
Me: No.
Who doesn't love to press buttons?
Now i can on my pc with ✨style✨
You can also turn the PC on remotely using WOL. If you want to make it work outside your home network, you would need something like a Raspberry Pi Pico to send the WOL packet to your PC, since it doesn't really work from the outside. So you basically send a command to the Pi to send the packet to the PC.
Power buttons are obsolete now.
Hiw about using one of those IoT Switchable sockets and using the function to turn on the PC when it gets power? Seems a lot simpler than having a PC that sends a PC a command to start your PC.
We really need a link
The red cover is for non momentary switches. It's so you can easily flip off the switch with out dexterity. So it's just for looks here
I'd love to do this with one of those boxes that you flip the switch and the finger comes out to turn it off😂
This would be amazing for a military style PC build

@@valentin0000 it's a special cable for front panel to that lol
@@HoloScope it's a special cable for front panel to that
I built a desk about five years ago with rows of toggle switches... More as a mid-century look than military jet, but it's similar. They turn on various functions and the main bank is directly above the PC tower.
If I could I’d make the startup button a grenade, and in order to turn it on you’d have to pull the pin.
Finally I won't need to send my hand all the way to the PC, I can just attach this button next to my mouse, this is genius
'Send my hand'? Wtf?
I actually sighed in relief that it wasnt a movement sensor
“are you bored of turning on your pc?”
You should make a tutorial on how to set this up so we can do it please
It's extremely easy, doesn't really need a tutorial. All he's doing is connecting the two pins labeled "Power SW" on the motherboard to the two terminals on a switch. When the switch is pressed, current is allowed to pass from one pin through the switch to the other pin, starting the PC boot sequence. It's the exact same thing as momentarily connecting those two pins using a paperclip, head of a screwdriver, or anything conductive.
I'm not sure where he got the custom cable, but you could easily make your own using wire and Dupont connectors, or just use wire and connect it to the pins using heat-shrink tubing or even electric tape.
@@myel8531 My friend, I know you stated you didn't know of where he got the cable from, but because you seem way more educated in this subject than me, could you help me find that particular cable? I really don't know how to "make my own" :/
