Used to play this game everyday for years, up to nearly a decade ago. I could rarely go outside, and my parents barely taught me anything about life. This game is one of the things that raised me. The village felt so familiar and peaceful, villagers were friendly and your presence and interactions with them would matter. Other characters were unique, each with a background and goals. I loved getting coffee from Robusto (Wilbur), sometimes spotting villagers there, and collecting songs in the evening on the weekends. Waiting for Tom Nook to open while organizing what i needed to sell, going to the village board to check rare items there and other events. I loved learning more about the fauna with all the entries each time i'd catch a new one, and if i donated them, watching those in the museum. Otherwise, i'd sell them or spend hours decorating the house. It was so exciting to finally get an item that villagers wouldn't sell on market days. I remember trying to grow a bell tree with the golden shovel, but didn't go high enough because i was worried of the 1% chance i'd get nothing if i put 99000 bells, because i didn't understand statistics that well. Nevee bred flowers because i had no idea this was possible hahah Checking the possible hairstyle outcomes on the internet to get the one i wanted, learning emotes from the comedians in the city, changing the time back and forth between Easter and Halloween to buy furniture from Carla's, only to wonder why villager wanted to leave... Then i'd go to able sisters to make designs for hours. It was fun seeing villagers wear them depending on their personality. I even miss the times villagers would chase me around to ask for a favour, and when i'd find out they wanted something i really wanted to keep, shutting down the console to avoid answering. It was fun seeing them occasionally interact with one another, and then jumping into the conversation for some unique dialogue. Creating constellations and watching them on events with fireworks was amazing. For just a moment, life feels peaceful again. I wonder what past me would think of life now.
@@tophatcat9996 I wish there was a setting in New horizons so you could set the music that plays throughout the day to play whatever your favorite animal crossing was so you that example you'd hit city folk and it would play city folks day songs
I remember the panic as I fired my shot at it just as it went over the cliff. Miraculously I managed to get it. One of my more memorable "Holy s-" moments lol
I get Gulliver a lot in the original Animal Crossing on the GameCube, but I've never gotten him on this one. Now the reason I get him all the time in the original is because he comes once a week, but why do I never get him in this one?

So true. I think about how nostalgic I'll be for new horizons in a few years. Even though the music isn't as good :(
