If you look at the amount of players that are actively playing Snap, it is down, but it is still one of the highest games in terms of player count and monetization. Second Dinner doesn't rely on forcing every free to play player to buy more spotlight keys or the season pass. Everyone wants to play the new stuff because it is new. If the meta was still the same from 3 months ago, Snap would be even more "dead" than it is now. If you look at the roadmap that the devs shared recently, they re still trying to make snap a fun game that doesn't just rely on spending money to play the game.

Meta should be playable with old cards, not old cards being outright demolished to make space for new ones. Upon initial release, Alioth was too powerful and Galactus decks were ruling. Then they nerfed Alioth and it wasn't completely bad, meta had it, but new cards were pretty much on the rise too. The latest update made it vanish out of play completely. Same thing happened to Zabu, and now to Prof X. No incentive if I don't wan't to pay and just play with old cards. Its extremely frustrating.
I have an idea for ftp players Every season, whenever a new card comes out, they should give out free trial version of that card to every player. The duration of the trial card is 5-6 days. This way , all players can know how good that card is and the opportunity to try them

Of course a deck that dominated 3 months ago might not be as effective now. Can you imagine how boring the game would be if you could just play the same 12 cards for months and months without ever needing to adapt? It's not a realistic indication of what most people play and it doesn't mean it's the only valid meta. But even then, how are his views any indication of the state of the game? I really don't understand what the point was there. And lets be honest, 2 measly points of power for Gilgamesh are not gonna make a huge difference, and if we're paying for a season pass I have no problem with them making sure that what we're getting in return is at least playable. Marvel Snap is far from perfect and Second Dinner is not beyond criticism, but I think it's one of the most new-player-friendly games of this type out there right now, it has a very accessible progression system and it's very far from being pay-to-win. Maybe I'm a bit biased because as a fan of Marvel I played almost all of their free games like Contest of Champions and Strike Force, and those are extremely predatory in their monetization and gameplay mechanics, so when people call Snap pay2win or something like that I'm like "you have no idea what that's actually like". But that's just my opinion. I think the game is in a decently healthy state. I also wish getting the new cards was a bit easier, but I don't think that it's dying and I don't think anybody is pushing new players away. I don't spend money on the game and I think the cache system is fine, I know I am not going to get every card upon its release week without spending money and that's a choice I'm fine with making. (currently missing 27 of the total 284 cards - most of which I wouldn't really use) If you don't enjoy the game, take a break, or quit permanently. Because it is draining for the community to hear all these complaints, and it is draining for your own health to worry about stuff like this. I would miss your videos (idk if you'd quit this channel, I assume so), but there's no point losing sleep over the state of the game Also, your favourite deck isn't fun to play against, hence the nerfs. The meta needs consistent shake ups, otherwise it becomes stale, which was a complaint of players when the OTAs weren't as frequent pre-Spring 2023
You can hot infinite with literally any deck . And the deck you showcased as your fav was toxic af , blocking a location and blowing the remaining opponent cards is not fun nor competitive & not even skill based deck . If you cant move on and adapt you better just not play anymore
I don’t think anything has changed at all really. The main issue is they need to make cards easier to get for free players, and add modes. These problems don’t affect content creators at all. Their video got so few views due to the creator they used, info readily available, and the fact that it was poorly formatted/didnt address the things people cared about. The devs are very attentive about adjusting the game on the fly, but at the pace they are adding cards they need to update card acquisition. It is constantly in the top charts, no where near “death” 😂
not going full "the game is gonna die" but to be honest i can sort of relate to how you feel. i dont really mind them buffing the battle pass cards because well, they have to sell stuff and make money. But lately i feel like the game has become real stale putting aside the whole p2w discussion, daily missions feel like a chore for me now and i dont have as much fun as i used to compared to previous seasons. the main reason i still play its because one of my in real life group of friends still play and sometimes we get together on discord to stream our matches. but even them said that they dont have as much fun and do the bare minimum for missions each day. so i can see and believe what you said about number of playing going down. hopefully they can fix that.

Even as a p2w player, as in I buy the $10 pass, it’s become such a grind to even unlock 2 cards a season. Plus, the content creators hype up cards that aren’t good so you spend 3 keys on a bad card, miss out on the good cards, and by the time you have enough tokens to unlock them they get nerfed. Happened to me with Alioth and Cannonball. Bought Trash Machine instead of Cannonball and I missed on Sage and Thena too cause I dropped 4 keys on Squatch 💀
Game isn't dead and I not going to die within 2 months. What you're experiencing is a burnout. Although, honestly, I also think the game has been pretty ass the last couple of seasons.

Marvel Snap at least nerfs the cards, whereas in other games like Yu-Gi-Oh!, they simply ban the card from being played. In Hearthstone, for example, you can only play in the competitive queue with cards from the last three seasons, and older cards can't even be used. These games sell cards for money, so Marvel Snap at least tries to keep the game alive without prohibiting you from using your cards. Some cards get buffed and some get nerfed. Leech, for example, is a card that everyone has and was buffed to become super OP, leading to widespread complaints, so they nerfed it again. This is a problem with card games; they need to maintain player interest in new content. Lockdown meta, junk, and every other dominant meta will get nerfed because the community demands it.

Yup if this was the same game I played last year I would enjoy being competitive. This is an entirely new game. The second dinner greediness is disgusting and hate seeing the random patches for cards that didn't need a huge nerf or change.

Im gonna take a break in july, only just because as I love high evo, i dont want to experience that meta for a while. But honestly this game is so accessible to "f2p" players, if you can schedule and put in a lot of effort, which at the end of the day, thats what we all want and can do.

Speaking seriously now, I stop playing in the Chavez rework, they destroy my favorite deck ( free to play discard), now is is filled with pay to win card ( corvus glaive etc). The game is dead from the start, becoz this is more like a card collection game and less fun. There is no fun(yes but not). Cards are overwhelming (large no cards but what's the use they are overshadowed by meta cards). Card collection is tough and that too the best cards will be Nerfed to death(all your hard work is wasted and you need to grind for another meta🤡🤡). I thought it has potential but nah. Guys just stop this game I have alternative play shadow fight 4(excellent fighting game, unique characters and abilities, it has everything it is more like free to win game and skill based unlike card collection piece of sht.

Hoogland ironizes and shows utter disrespect to free to play players which, unlike him , do not spend thousands of dollars on mobile games (which he admitted/bragged about). The game is less fun that it was and that's fine - it will probably be gone in a year and won't be missed.
About the Hoogland point - from clips it can look that way, but he really doesn't. He does make a point to state that 'if you like a game, why wouldn't you spend money on it?' - which is a fair point, although not everyone is in a position to do that. So in his videos he always shows alternatives to S4/5 cards and doesn't disrespect F2P or new players in his stream chat. And while I have spent about £50 since October 2023, I'm mostly F2P and he's never made fun of me for that.
As a free to play player, I disagree. I'm fine with whales spending thousands of dollars so that the game stays alive. If it wasn't profitable THAT would definitely kill the game because they would just stop updating and supporting it. And content creators especially need to spend money, otherwise they wouldn't get the new cards to make content about. Meanwhile, I've reached infinite consistently every season for like a year now with cards I get for free. I don't see a better balance than that. But I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

true, i'm baffled this guy had the confidence to say that was his fav deck ever when it was the most hated style ever. lockdown with old alioth and prof x? the most vocally hated cards i have ever heard in snap since i started playing. not even adding the hypocrisy about needing new cards to play top decks when Ms.marvel and alioth were still relatively new cards when it was 2/3 months ago.
I don't like the "new card every week" scheme which every card must be powerful enough to change the meta and, even grinding, you don't have any guarantee you'll get them. And if the card isn't good enough, it still receives a direct buff or other cards are changed to best acommodate it. It's really frustrating when you master a deck and it gets irrevelant soon after.
If people want to complain about how hard it is to get cards in Marvel snap.. then their not even trying 🙄 I'm only missing 15 cards for a complete marvel snap set. And I haven't even been playing for a year.. I also didn't pay much for cards other than some season passes 🙃 more than half were earned from just playing.. 😅 I'm doing pretty good.. still not at infinity but my area has alot of really good players 😅 (and bots.. that's probably my only complaint. lol defending old alioth. If people had to rely on that overpowered effect it's a skill issue they don't enjoy the actual game. Alioth still works functionally the same against non stat sticks if you can control or guess where they play. And it was never a deck issue, most decks just couldn't play. The game would actually be dead right now if we still had that alioth meta

I can’t get myself to believe this game is RNG, it is percentage driven which means in the realm of probability, there is only winning and losing, and second dinner engineers losing because it’s easy to do than engineering winning. From deck cycles, caches, spotlights, card draws, card upgrades, everything is weighed on a percentage chance , series 5 has lower percentages, higher cost cards have lower percentages, meta deck cards have their draw percentages dropped so their combinations are much harder to achieve after meta becomes the meta.. it’s atrocious behaviour
Totally agree! I know at least four content creators who ask for OTA changes and get them. Even though they claim the changes aren't directly related to their feedback, they influence a lot of players who then complain about certain cards. These creators are sponsored by Untapped and constantly tell their viewers to use it. Unlike Snap Fan or Marvel Snap Tracker from Marvel Snap Pro and Marvel Snap Zone, which provide free data, Untapped hides it behind a paywall. When a new patch or OTA drops-often with changes these creators requested-they release videos using Untapped's data, which is behind a paywall. It's a money-making cycle: Step 1, content creators demand changes; Step 2, Second Dinner makes the changes; Step 3, players need to adapt and look for help; Step 4, Untapped-sponsored creators release new deck videos using paywalled data. Essentially, Second Dinner, Untapped, and these creators are making money off us while pretending to help.

@@nICEDeer Though what i meant was not high evo deck, I do think that this deck is also problematic, as it gains power from unspent energy, which means the player does not need to think about utilizing all their energy and can just play the counter move e.g. cosmo. And there was a time when high evo was real good in conquest.

This is a problem with card games; they need to maintain player interest in new content. Lockdown meta, junk, and every other dominant meta will get nerfed because the community demands it.

Yup if this was the same game I played last year I would enjoy being competitive. This is an entirely new game. The second dinner greediness is disgusting and hate seeing the random patches for cards that didn't need a huge nerf or change.

Im gonna take a break in july, only just because as I love high evo, i dont want to experience that meta for a while. But honestly this game is so accessible to "f2p" players, if you can schedule and put in a lot of effort, which at the end of the day, thats what we all want and can do.

The game is dead from the start, becoz this is more like a card collection game and less fun. There is no fun(yes but not). Cards are overwhelming (large no cards but what's the use they are overshadowed by meta cards). Card collection is tough and that too the best cards will be Nerfed to death(all your hard work is wasted and you need to grind for another meta🤡🤡). I thought it has potential but nah. Guys just stop this game I have alternative play shadow fight 4(excellent fighting game, unique characters and abilities, it has everything it is more like free to win game and skill based unlike card collection piece of sht.

Hoogland ironizes and shows utter disrespect to free to play players which, unlike him , do not spend thousands of dollars on mobile games (which he admitted/bragged about). The game is less fun that it was and that's fine - it will probably be gone in a year and won't be missed.
About the Hoogland point - from clips it can look that way, but he really doesn't. He does make a point to state that 'if you like a game, why wouldn't you spend money on it?' - which is a fair point, although not everyone is in a position to do that. So in his videos he always shows alternatives to S4/5 cards and doesn't disrespect F2P or new players in his stream chat. And while I have spent about £50 since October 2023, I'm mostly F2P and he's never made fun of me for that.
As a free to play player, I disagree. I'm fine with whales spending thousands of dollars so that the game stays alive. If it wasn't profitable THAT would definitely kill the game because they would just stop updating and supporting it. And content creators especially need to spend money, otherwise they wouldn't get the new cards to make content about. Meanwhile, I've reached infinite consistently every season for like a year now with cards I get for free. I don't see a better balance than that. But I guess it's all a matter of opinion.
If the casuals and F2Players leave and the whales are left in a bot mirror wasteland we shall see how the tables have crumbled,🍪

This should be in the top comment. He has to acknowledge that in order for that deck to be top tier, back then, older meta decks had to fall-off. Crying because your single-meta deck isn't playable anymore is just pure copium. I'm sure this happens in every card game (For me it was Yu gi oh: Master Duel). This is healthy for the game but not healthy for his ego i guess 🤷 move on my guy
true, i'm baffled this guy had the confidence to say that was his fav deck ever when it was the most hated style ever. lockdown with old alioth and prof x? the most vocally hated cards i have ever heard in snap since i started playing. not even adding the hypocrisy about needing new cards to play top decks when Ms.marvel and alioth were still relatively new cards when it was 2/3 months ago.
I don't like the "new card every week" scheme which every card must be powerful enough to change the meta and, even grinding, you don't have any guarantee you'll get them. And if the card isn't good enough, it still receives a direct buff or other cards are changed to best acommodate it.
It's really frustrating when you master a deck and it gets irrevelant soon after.

I'm only missing 15 cards for a complete marvel snap set. And I haven't even been playing for a year..
I also didn't pay much for cards other than some season passes 🙃 more than half were earned from just playing.. 😅 I'm doing pretty good.. still not at infinity but my area has alot of really good players 😅 (and bots.. that's probably my only complaint. Are bot players)

lol defending old alioth. If people had to rely on that overpowered effect it's a skill issue they don't enjoy the actual game. Alioth still works functionally the same against non stat sticks if you can control or guess where they play.
And it was never a deck issue, most decks just couldn't play. The game would actually be dead right now if we still had that alioth meta

I can’t get myself to believe this game is RNG, it is percentage driven which means in the realm of probability, there is only winning and losing, and second dinner engineers losing because it’s easy to do than engineering winning. From deck cycles, caches, spotlights, card draws, card upgrades, everything is weighed on a percentage chance , series 5 has lower percentages, higher cost cards have lower percentages, meta deck cards have their draw percentages dropped so their combinations are much harder to achieve after meta becomes the meta.. it’s atrocious behaviour

Even though they claim the changes aren't directly related to their feedback, they influence a lot of players who then complain about certain cards. These creators are sponsored by Untapped and constantly tell their viewers to use it. Unlike Snap Fan or Marvel Snap Tracker from Marvel Snap Pro and Marvel Snap Zone, which provide free data, Untapped hides it behind a paywall.
When a new patch or OTA drops-often with changes these creators requested-they release videos using Untapped's data, which is behind a paywall. It's a money-making cycle: Step 1, content creators demand changes; Step 2, Second Dinner makes the changes; Step 3, players need to adapt and look for help; Step 4, Untapped-sponsored creators release new deck videos using paywalled data. Essentially, Second Dinner, Untapped, and these creators are making money off us while pretending to help.

@@MarvelSnapDD idk it still seems good to me and prof x still blocks a lot but has been the worst card in that archetype for a while. Playing a supergiant deck is way more rewarding and feels closer to lockdown than prof

@@nICEDeer Though what i meant was not high evo deck, I do think that this deck is also problematic, as it gains power from unspent energy, which means the player does not need to think about utilizing all their energy and can just play the counter move e.g. cosmo.
And there was a time when high evo was real good in conquest.
