    Wow Glen! Every time I watch your videos I always learn something new. In this video, I learned three things. 1) Your water pump should never 'rock and roll'. 2) When it's cold as balls, don't work outside and 3) Don't lose your nuts! Seriously, you're doing some great work on getting that water pump out of there and looks like it's going pretty smooth. That only means one thing! That damn chaos is on his way south to my home LOL... Have a good one and don't work too hard!

    Great video! I did one of these this weekend and I learned a little trick that might help getting the pulley on and off. On the back cyl. head there is a black cover protecting an oil line. If you jack the engine up (as you instructed)and remove that cover( only 2 bolts hold it on) the pulley comes right off giving you an obstructed view of the w.p. Thought this might help.

    Just did a 2009 Toyota Venza 3.5 water pump and thermostat today. If you read Alldata, it would give you a heart attack. I didn't really want to do the job since the temps in NY hover between 15-25 degrees these days, but my customer was getting quotes of $1,800-$2,100 because of the crazy book time for this job. This pump died at 108K miles. Hope this one lasts longer.

    Fantastic video. I am about to attempt this and I want to replace that tensioner pulley. I know someone already asked this, but where did you get the pulley for the tensioner? Did you just replace the bearings or did you replace the pulley with something like it? Thanks!

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You most likely need to order a tensioner and swap the pulley. I have pressed in new bearings before. The tensioner swap on this model Highlander is a huge pain.

    My Rav4 146k miles is a making a similar noise,but not as bad and pulley does not appear to be wobbling.No leaks are noticed.How long did you notice the noise or did it get progessively worse till you noticed it.?To determine if it is the pump is there any reason I cannot pull the belt off and start engine briefly and this would tell me if it is most likely the pump?Realizing it is not the only belt driven device.Hate when winter hits and these things go bad!Video will be a big help if I do it.thanks

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bearing could just be beginning to fail but not bad enough to the point where the impellar shaft is wobbling. If you spin the pulley by hand with the belt off you may feel or hear the noise. Make sure to check all the pulleys and accessories before replacing anything. This isn't my car and it was making noise for a while before being repaired.
