Direct quote from Magic community manager: “Collector Boosters and Bundles, however, are typically a single-print run and I would not expect the same extended availability there.”’ He continues, stating that while Play Boosters should be generally available throughout the set’s tenure in Standard, “Bundles are unlikely to be reprinted, however, and Collector Boosters will not be.”

Don't blame Wizards if you're going to gaslight yourself. This set is going to be around for 5 years. It's not a typical set (which doesn't even run out of collector boxes). Eldraine and Ixalan were hot collector's sets due to Mana Crypt and Anime pulls....they still have mountains of those collector boxes around. Do you believe it when he says "Play boosters 'should' be available throughout the set's tenure in Standard"? When's the last time a standard set stopped printing during its standard run? Never. Their whole strategy is just feeding you FOMO so everyone buys more product.
He and many others said nobody wanted the product so stores underordered and now it's sold out. Which seems to be true, all twelve LGS in my city ordered just a couple cases because they had few to no preorders and now all that's left is marked up beginner box or whatever it's called.
I’m new to Magic. I’ve collected a couple hundred cards over the years but I’ve never played bc I never really had anyone to play with. I just enjoyed collecting them and looking at the cool art even though I never really knew how to play. Lately, I’ve been playing Arena which has helped me learn how to play and I found out some of my co-workers play. I just built my first 60 card deck even though most of my cards of illegal at this point my friends just play casual anyways. Anyways I think foundations has put a lot of eyes on mtg both new and returning players. I’m very excited.
I mean I went from Pokemon in 1999 to Yugioh in 2002 to Magic in late 2012. Also playing around a bit but mostly collecting Digimon 2020 cards. Does that mean we're gonna get WWIII and Russia/Ukraine updates too?
Hope everything is ok for you. I do agree with your take on TCGplayer, but I don't think it's because they are inherently bad as companies like Card Kingdom can break out and offer a better alternative to those who want their service. The bigger issue is that when products become so massively popular they can be easily monopolized as the people selling them don't really need a marketing budget to push those products and the only level of competition is price competition, which is nothing more than a race to the bottom. Unfortunately, the production companies are a victim of their own success and the rest of us are a victim of search engines.
For your seasonal affective disorder, have you tried light therapy? Basically its a sunlight substitute lamp you use first thing in the morning. Its helped my daughter with hers.
Yes, I have one that I used to use. It helps a little but I have just learned to ride it out. I try to stay active, daily walks with the dogs, force myself to do chores etc.
If they reprint foundations collector boxes I will buy them again. If they don’t reprint them these will be some of the most expensive collectors products going into 2025. Only beaten out by the universes beyond collector boxes from final fantasy and marvel. The demand on these was so underestimated. I feel lucky having as many boxes as I have.
Should I go heavy on innistrad collector boxes or just grab a few? Feel like the serialized markov will make it worth while. Also interesting about your personal life, I think I have an idea just with the news/media coverage. It’s effecting a lot of people.
Collector Booster allocations are insanely low, so if you can pick them up I think it is a good buy just due to the fact that allocations are lower than normal.
Look at games that died. If cards aren't worth anything people don't have any incentive to play tourneys and the game looks dead even if it's very active casually. So new players give up. If LGS can't keep singles in stock people can't build decks and don't play tourneys making the game look dead even if there's high demand. So new players give up. Without new players coming in the game dies for real.
He said distribution level. It means that the LGS can't buy any more than what they have in store. Whats on shelves is on shelves. But yeah, grain of salt to the average person.
I am baffled it sold out. I would have thought gamers have learned by now about Hasbro. All that talk I heard from everyone saying they aren't gonna play anymore.I legit feel bad for MTG players today. You are getting ripped off badly please stop buying their products. I have a hunch that most of the stock was bought by collectors and youtubers.
This is a common tactic to gain excitement using FOMO...underproduce (like the PS5), sell at scalper prices for a while to see where it lands and then raise the price just under that. F HASBRUH and this DEAD GAME. Let Yugioh players HAVE IT!
I think the timing of the spoilers played a role in the turn around for foundations sales and interest. I think it was like 1 week out when they had revealed the entire set, really no leaks. The hype train didn’t build pressure to move forward until too late for the pre-release, and this is one angle that needs to be considered when dissecting what really happened.
Our playgroup ppl still takes up like half our shops tablespace on commander night just playing 60 card casual. At first it was just spiteful, now i feel most of us are happy to just be off the commander plantation😂

@@nibernator First of all, the external circumstances that allow this phenomenon: why do these people have customers or why is there a market at all?
