Great reaction. Egil the guitarist could only remember the Dolly Parton Version, Angelina knew how the song should sound, but was not sure of all the lyrics, that's why she was reading from her phone. In an interview Egil said that this was the one and only take. Angelina thought that it would be OK...

Irony moment: I also recognize Egil from the TH-cam channel Verba Vocal Technique. I didn't know he was a professional accompanist. Cool for both of them. I also feel like Angelina with her cover when I write songs on sheet music, "Eh, I don't know how to make this any better, so I'll go with it for now."

@@MadMusician Egil has accompanied Angelina since June 2014, when she was just 8 years old. This song was recorded in 2017, in 2018 Angelina moved to LA, but on visits back to Norway they have performed together in 2019, though not since the pandemic - there is a chemistry between them, Angelina leads, Egil follows...

Thank you for your heartfelt reaction to Angelina. Your response was as expected. The feeling of peace and love for a young girl whose Talent is through the roof cannot be measured.
Angelina's fans have loved her since she was a small child. She has an incredible history. She began singing at one and a half years old and by the age of three was listening to jazz and the classics on repeat, singing along and absorbing styles and techniques. She is a true prodigy.
Norwegian born Angelina won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8 years old singing Old Time classic songs that are unheard of in a child that age. Singing Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, she became the youngest ever winner of an international Got Talent Show!
Since that time, up to her present age of 15, she has recorded over 135 songs which you can find on Rusty Shackleford's homepage on TH-cam. It is a chronological list beginning at age 6, her first time in the studio. List consists mostly of cover songs, and approximately half a dozen originals which were introduced over the past year or two, during which time she was signed by Republic Records.
    th-cam.com/play/PL2v8kgVeo4EbQD6l_WAVjOfItquzW7oEc.html
It's not just about her voice, but the emotion and attitude she conveys through her music, even if she has not experienced the events personally! She is also known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register as desired for any song or artist she covers.
Why do we love Angelina? It is because her soul is as pure as her Talent. She is humble, compassionate, and filled with empathy for her fellow man and for the world. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace to make the world better. How can you not embrace her?
When she was 6 years old, she was in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own shoes and promised she would never again wear shoes while performing until all children of the world had shoes! At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, and became the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has donated over $1 million to children's charities since winning Norways Got Talent.
So again, how and why do we love Angelina? It is self-evident. Reactors and new listeners from all over the world have been introduced to her, or have been following her for years, and are now more than just casual observers. They have become dedicated fans to support her as we do. You cannot follow Angelina without developing an emotional attachment.
I hope you continue to react to Angelina and her loyal fans will flock to your channel and subscribe in anticipation.
Welcome to this rabbit hole from which you can never escape, nor would you want to. Peace.

Although the Whitney Houston version is the most well-known - The song was originally written and performed by Dolly Parton..

I know. I looked up the lyrics for the subtitles and found out about that by chance.

What effects on her voice please? She must really like jazz? Jeez she’s the greatest jazz singer of all time in my opinion..if you like jazz check out her jazz performances..there’s simply dozens for you to choose from.

Reverb, compression, and gain-staging perhaps. I just know that it's from the audio outcome. If there were no effects at all, it would sound MUCH different if it were camera audio.

@@MadMusician ok thx..I always assumed the reverb was something to do with that insanely good mic she has? And I’ll have to google gain-staging..thx for your reply..

@@MadMusician Are you saying that there was some post-production on the original video?

    • @MadMusician
      @MadMusician  3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@alberttenfoot Oh, absolutely. There's GOT to be some post production in there. As to how: a few options come to mind. First: the audio from the camera (potentially the audio from a shotgun microphone, if not just the camera) was exported as an audio file, added some compression and reverb and MAYBE some EQ, exported that as a separate audio file, put that audio on top of the video instead of the original, and exported that whole thing as a video file. Second: they pre-recorded the whole time beforehand and tried to sync up to the music being played out in front of them. (That second one is HIGHLY HIGHLY unlikely, but who knows?) Third: there's a producer off-camera adjusting her audio gain for the volume level she's giving off (the definition of gain-staging) while the guitarist is playing the guitar through midi, exported as audio, added compression reverb and eq, exported separate audio, added back on to original video replacing the original audio, and exported the full video. Forth: the gain-staging (yes, the rest of the steps of number three are unchanged for number four) is picking up her voice and guitar (even though I don't think that's very likely).
