- Peyton List is an actor who's appeared in shows like Jessie, Bunk'd, and now in Cobra Kai on Netflix! She and I got together to hang out and play Medical Confessions, where we each come up with two medical "facts" about ourselves. Of course, only one of the "facts" is true. It's up to the other person to suss our which is and isn't sus. Today we talked about herpes, asthma, twisted colons, tuberculosis, motion sickness, rashes, losing your voice, fainting, Doctor Oz, Swine Flu, Emergen-C, and even horns. Leave questions for Peyton down in the comments!

Herpes was an easy guess. A majority of people under the age of 50 have herpes, and TB is incredibly rare.

I think it’s not fair to play this game with a doctor. :) You describe a fake illness, and Mike can notice the inaccuracies of your story in no time. But everything he tells you sounds so right even if he mentions a nonexistent disease.
Yeah i thought it would be fair bc she’s a great actress and he isn’t an actor, but she kind of stumbled sometimes and mike was so confident😂
@@jasminvanemmerloot of course cos she pretends for a living whereas Micheal acts as a barrier between life and death for a living so he knows a lot of concrete stuff from both hard schooling and experience
Well both of them have their specialties, Mike really knows his medicine and Peyton’s an actress, they both could convince you that a made up thing is true, just in different fields
What illness did she fake? If you are referring to the colon twist, she said it was her brother and he told her what it was called at the end.
@@rebekah4761 I was not talking about her specifically by saying “you”. :) I meant Doc seems to have more advantages in this game than the ones who he is playing with because of his professional ability to investigate whether a medical scenario is real or fake.
I literallly was about to believe that Dr Mike had tuberculosis and gave it to all people around him. I was like, Dr Mike is so strong that even tuberculosis is like a flu for him.
Herpes is just a lot more common than tuberculosis, especially in the last 50 years.
It's SUPER sad that, with as prevalent as Herpes is, we have been so shamed about it that we assume it's not the socially transmitted disease instead of wishing away the deadly one.
i had tubercolosis of abdomen, it ruins your life most of my childhood got ruined due to it
@@nameless_al it can get cleared, but will forever require an alternative test to be able to work somewhere that needs a tb test. Most people can get a 2 day read on an arm shot but it will always read positive even after healing.
Also, you need to take medication for TB for at least 9 months.
I have a hard enough time believing Dr. Oz is even a real medical doctor, much less a heart surgeon. So that one was pretty unbelievable.
He is a heart surgeon. I think he did heart transplants.

Knowing the social stigma there is about HSV, it takes a lot of courage admitting this in a platform with millions of followers. It would be awesome if you could make a video of HSV-1 and HSV-2!

60% of my high school was out sick with swine flu that year. I took a week off to not get sick. I didn't have permission and I straight up told the attendance lady why it was unexcused when I returned. Never got in trouble for it.
My daughter was in 8th grade when swine flu was going around. She missed over a month of school because of it. At one time 3/4 of her class were out sick with it. Because of state attendance requirements for certain classes, my daughter and half her middle school graduating class had to attend summer school in order to register for high school.
I was in band camp when all that happened, I remember how scared all of us teeny-tiny 13 year olds were.
I was born in 2009 so I didn’t have to worry about it

thank you for talking about this, I have genital HSV-1 (caused by someone who had oral cold sores) that I got without knowing it can be transmitted that way. It is much more common and should be destigmatized, so thank you ♥️
Exactly the same for me. I had no idea, and learned in the worst way. I've been treated poorly after mentioning it to others often enough I just hermit now. I would like to see it be destigmatized as well.

@@tormentedsoul906 sure! What would you like to know? Essentially I like to caution people when it comes to oral cold sores. They are extremely common and not “gross” or “bad”, however, they can cause genital herpes via oral s*x, which can be very painful and hard to deal with. I was unaware it can be transmitted that way and I think a lot of people are.

To the "do 2 year olds have teeth", I'm gonna say yes. My daughter has had all her teeth since she was 18 months old. And her half sister had all her teeth by her first birthday. My 6 month old has a bunch as well

Wow I'm surprised Dr. Mike admitted he has herpes but that's great he is open about it. Hopefully this will decrease some of the stigma
He admitted to having HSV-1 which, as stated in the video, 70% of people under the age of 50 have..... There's almost no stigma attached to HSV-1 since the most common presentation is cold sores. The stigma is attached to HSV-2. Most people don't even understand that Herpes causes cold sores because the information has been removed from a lot of health and sex ed classes.

If you have a vitamin D deficiency, you can get scurvy, so you can change that. Back in the day, breweries in Denmark added vitamin C to bear. When the breweries stopped, the brewery workers got scurvy because they only got bear as a nutrient.

1, love this man. 2, i can verify that 2 year olds DO in fact have their teeth by then, my daughter had a most her teeth growing in by the time she was 1 and shes 2 now and they are all in and set.
She was my favorite actor as a kid. I was obsessed with Jessie and Bunk’d. I guess I still am obsessed though. It would have been amazing if I could have been in Bunk’d, I’d have so much fun. The actors tv personalities are just like me combined.

Peyton turned 11 in April of 2009. That kind of reframes the story of having a date for graduation. She would have been graduating from elementary school, so the fact that his parents called doesn't seem so unusual.
Loved this video two of my favorite people having fun together was amazing to see. Peyton list was huge part of my childhood & Dr Mike is a big part of my life now
Dr. Mike should discuss Johnny Lawrence's unique method for helping someone regain the use of their legs

Wow, such a random guest I never would have expected to see on Dr. Mike's channel... Totally cool though because I absolutely adore Peyton and her work, and she's always kind of been a huge celebrity crush of mine if I'm being honest lol. So yeah seeing these two together like this is definitely cool for me, really enjoyable.
I still remember watching movies and TV Shows where Peyton List appeared in my childhood and it's almost weird to see her older than when I used to watch her. :)

I got 6 out of 6, reading into context. I got the other 2 of 2 just because I've seen Mike without a shirt in his boxing match (no cardiac surgery scar) and Peyton in belly shirts (no abdominal scars, especially not alligator bite sized, from intestinal surgery).

I started driver's ed and It's a seven hour class from 7:20 to 2:30 with an hour for lunch at 10:30. I has a terrible migraine today and my mama (my saving grace) came in with an ice pack- beanie thing and Alka-Seltzer so I could finish the google meets and prepare for my final tomorrow. But omg looking at screens from 7-2 is driving my insane. My head hurts and my back hurts (I'm also recovering from a powerlifting injury)
All this to just talk about screens lol. And they want you to go to bed early, when you're swamped with a module, five quizes, a test, and a final review. Like even if I got to bed by ten, I was looking at the screen every second until then trying to finish my homework.

The episode was fun and then when it came to swine flu I got super curious because I was diagnosed with it in 2009 in Arizona as one of the “first emerging” cases there and they told me they were doing some experimental things to treat it. It was one of the worst medical experiences of my life(symptom related not health care related) and now 13 years later I’m just super curious on what the knowledge is now on treatment is now versus the what it was when the outbreak started.

For motion sickness what I do is take a pill called Dramamine. You can get it over the counter at most Walgreens, Rosauers, etc. I've been taking it since I was 7 (my sister, who honestly gets more motion sick that me took has been taking it even longer) and I've pretty much never been motion sick. But it's really terrible tasting, so it's easier (for me at least) to not take the chewables and take it with iced water. The 24 hr non drowsy ones also don't work as well for me. Just thought somebody might find it helpful :)

My boys and I have a blood disorder which requires us to take vitamins and minerals. Medication go through our system faster than people who don't have this disorder. The blood disorder is handed down though the mother. If the mother and father both have this blood disorder they may have trouble with having children.

Unrelated to the video. Why do my mind and body not want sleep after 16 hours of being awake? If we as humans should be getting 7-9 hours of sleep per day, why can't I sleep after 48hrs? Not that I even really want to sleep. It feels like such a waste of time that I could be productive, or entertained by something. I still try though. I lay there...still...no screens, no music, no TV. Just lying there, doing nothing, waiting to lose consciousness. Meds tend to not work. They bring me down, but I still don't sleep. Not to mention I build a tolerance to them annoyingly quickly.

I actually nearly died as a child because I had contracted swine flu, pneumonia, and strep. I spent like a week sleeping on the couch taking antibiotics and shaking from the fever. I think my fever reached like 107. My resting is like 95 to 97 now.
As a family doctor I feel like you should know that children at the age of 2 have teeth lol. They start getting them around 6 months normally. My one year old has 8 teeth and my two year old have a lot more lol
For any of the cut ones are the heart surgery one why didnt she asked to see the scars? The heart surgery one wouldve been a little harder to show but if he had it, all he'd have to do is pull down the collar of his scrubs a bit.
