This is the best drink I have ever had. I remember taking a drink with zero, I mean ZERO burn. As I exhaled flowers, caramel and vanilla came through. My very first thought... "This is how rich people get in trouble" I couldn't feel a thing. Then I stood up and felt heavy. Good stuff! I bought 3 glasses/shots at $200 each circa 2004.
Does a Louis XIII taste like an XO? or is an XO actually better if aging can be too much. It's a beautiful bottle but I wonder if it's better to have a sealed bottle for show and collection and then have an open bottle refilled with a new XO to drink from and to display the nice fleurs de lys stopper. If an opened bottle of Louis XIII spoils quickly when opened then it defeats the purpose of its price I think. Or can it keep once opened? perhaps if chilled.
It has been aged quite long, and through all those years it got chemically stabilised (I know I am killing the magic here a bit). So if you have opened it, you have enough time to enjoy it. Never had one myself tho, it is 'a bit' out of my reach...
Louis is superior to any xo or xxo that I have ever had by a great margin. My favorite for price is the Hardy XXO which is a 50 and I think that is better than a Henesy XO or Remi XO or Camus etc.
@@ucbwill oh wow well start off slow . I didn't care for Cognac until after drinking Bourbon for awhile then trying Cognac again you can really appreciate it and taste the fruit and different notes. Not an expert but then again what is lol but after some time you can tell the difference between better made ones and sometimes they are not that expensive. Enjoy trying some 👍
I’m a bartender in a prestigious hotel, and I can tell you that those people are certified oenologist, he may have been helped by family connections but Louis XIII doesn’t fall in the hands of a nobody, the bottles you see have been made by people who died before they were finished.
Had the opportunity to try this at a reputable establishment in Princeton, NJ last night. I’ve had XO before and thoroughly enjoyed (in fact, I own a couple of bottles for my home bar.) I’m sorry to say, it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I’m not sure if it was just a bad bottle or something else. On the nose and on the palate, it was very alcohol forward. It really overpowered any other flavors, which is shocking since it’s only 80 proof. I jokingly said that the bottle was mixed with EverClear..It really was that harsh. I’m a bourbon guy & prefer higher proof offerings, I’m not a shrinking violet when it comes to the heavy hitters. The pour reminded me more of a young, 2 to 4 year old Whiskey than what’s considered to be one of the finest drinks to be enjoyed.
Sounds like you have an able palate. Which makes me believe that you got chiseled. "Reputable" and "NJ" in the same sentence already creates suspicion.
U know is expensive when u hear a ratatouille accent
😭😂😂😂
LMAO 🤣 🤣 🤣
I am also think that
Only thing you’re getting for cheap that’s French is toast or fries.

How was Louis XIII loved by Napoléon when he died half a century before the its first release?
FYI, Cognac business is the biggest legal scam invented by the French for morons on earth. hope this helps
It was that good.
Very cool
Does anyone happen to know what the metal dispenser next to the bottle of Louis XIII is called? I want one and don't know what to look for
it's called a "spear" or "pipette" and I'm online right now trying to find one for my husband's 75th bday
It's called an enema 👍

My only question is what degree does he have that got him this job?
