Just shot a $40k feature-film using only the A7IV. Nobody needs an Arri or Red as long as they have production design and an eye for lighting. Great work guys!
I believe Danny has started a revolution in the film industry. Hopefully we see more and more TH-cam filmmakers make longer form narrative content. I can’t wait to see his movie in Chicago!

lol, they're definitely downplaying their disagreements on set during this video. Pretty funny. I think this is the biggest issue with hiring someone to do something you yourself are used to doing. Because they will always bring their own taste to the table, and if it doesn't align with your own vision you'll be left frustrated thinking about how you could be doing it all yourself. That's the biggest lesson I learned watching this video,

I think some times we get caught up perfection which takes away from the grit and feeling..thats why now i talk to the actors and we film with less and get a natural look instead of the cosmetic look

6k is only relevant for detail in regards to what Corey was saying. Its not exactly the same but it’s 100 percent usable when your output is going to be 4k either way.
Was thinking the same thing? There is a similar feel between cropping the image rather than changing the lense, however the compression of a 35mm to a 50mm defo has a slightly different feel, especially when you look at the compression of the Frame & Bokeh itself. Love Spencer's work, keep on smashing it mate.
2.57 you might be better to skip the expensive camera/glass and put the cash where it counts.. someone on set clever enough to offer a courtesey flag so the monitors can be seen. $10.
6.31 if the director wants centre frame give it to them! Certainly a small off creep is worst of all, talkspace is fine or 'proper odd' which can ba fashionable. To me centre frame has 'power' which my or may not serve the story.
I gotta be honest, that scene in the lake was horrifically reckless and you put peoples lives in danger. I know indie filmmaking is a whole different beast but people could’ve died. Cold water like that is extraordinarily dangerous.

But "scientifically" you're discounting the advantages (or simplifying it as "resolution") of resampling from 6K in post, a process which you lose when you crop. I'm not saying I never do it, because I sure as hell do. Just saying it's really not scientifically identical, and in my opinion (though I too absolutely love a 35mm lens on full-frame), it's a compromise. One made necessary by the expedient nature of a day on set.

I think the days of claiming cameras don’t matter are over. Yes lenses and lighting are key, but each camera has their own look too these days.

35mm and 50mm are not literally the same when u crop it. depth & compressed face alone show's its not 50mm.
compression still exists on the crop. if the camera is in the spot, its all the same. Maybe I should make a video over this...

Yeah talking specifically about detail and and framing there. There's going to be some visible bokeh difference on a tighter lens.

Other than resolution, yes. A lens is simply a magnifier. Maybe i should make a video over this haha
