I literally just witnessed this at Theissen's in Vinton, IA. I thought she was taking a youtube video at first. She was in high school and her Dad told her to "be sneaky" and they started walking around and she was holding her phone down by her side. When they passed by a 2nd time, i heard the chime and they got excited. It took me a moment to realize what they may have done, and i tried to follow them out of the store but they were gone and the store was closing. Tomorrow, im going back and asking the store to report it in case they have the father and daughter on camera.
Great idea for consumer protection! Thanks for sharing. But shoppers are still vulnerable when they take out their cards at the register to scan them for their purchases. Thieves can then seize this opportunity to capture people’s card information.💳💸
It doesn't really solve the problem to put your card in the shield. Because you still have to take the card out when you go to pay somewhere. What store makes the customers in line wait 25 ft away from the register?
@@mehmeh533 unfortunately I can't seem to find the video that demonstrated it and I'm going to be busy for the next few days. I'm catching a flight tomorrow morning for a new job. Vault card uses a method called card clashing. You can do the same thing using a second card. A cheap reader can't read multiple cards at the same time. The info from the cards clash with each other. But a more advanced reader can separate the info. IIRC it's because even if the two or more cards are rated to operate on the same frequency they're still going to differ slightly. An antenna that's sensitive enough can pick up on the difference. Btw a sniffer is a reader that collects card info from a distance and the more power you feed through it the longer the distance it can read cards from. If I find the video again I'll try to remember to get it to you

The wallets only reduce the range - around 75%. You're still quite vulnerable in a crowd.

A more advanced sniffer can read through that vault card though. I refuse to get contactless cards
Can you provide a link for that or do you not understand what it's doing?
