Being present at LAAD Defense and Security exhibition 2019 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Belgian company CMI Defence is seeking to reinforce its partnerships with the Brazilian defense companies and to reconduct or reestablish contracts with them. Such contracts will mainly be about the procurement of the CPWS 25mm turrets and the LCTS 90mm Medium Pressure (90MP) turrets.

Saying this gun can fire APFSDS is disingenuous. Belgium tested it and found that the rounds severely shortened the barrel life, even more so than the L7 gun which is purpose built MBT gun

90mm ? What advantage does the 90mm have over 105mm or 120mm ?
At least 105mm and 120mm are pretty much Nato standard for decades.

90mm is Recon trooper caliber in brazilian army for 4 decades, and we can carry more rounds per vehicle.

90mm can go through most MBTs front armor with depleted uranium APFSDS ammo, + its lightweight and ideal for mounting on light 6x6 vehicles. The brazilian Cascavel with the 90 mm cannon is much faster than the AMX 10 RC, for example. It also allows for faster reloading and larger maximum ammo load (lighter and smaller ammo).
The 105mm cannon on the other hand is more efficient going through more modern MBTs frontal armor, which is usually reinforced. Which is why the Cascavel Mk5 modernization will have a new 105mm cannon + other new cool stuff. The older 90mm turrets will likely be used as a module on Urutu APCs according to what the mission requires.
Long story short: 90mm allows for a lot more agility, 105mm allows for more firepower. As a standard weapon its better to have the 105mm (hence why NATO did it), but it doesnt hurt to have a few 90mm ready for use.
