I’m in Victoria Australia, pretty much within the southern limit of their natural distribution. They do stay outside during winter, I do have a heated hide box that won’t won’t get below 14c
@@Varanibae do they brumate for the whole winter? Or come out sometimes during warm days. Also, does the monitor understand to go into the box when it gets cold or do you lock it into there? And what is the feeding schedule during winter? Sorry for so many questions . Thanks
@@223cw7 no feeding during winter, they brumate and spend most of the time hiding, would only come out on a particularly sunny day to bask. If the heated hide box is the most safe, secure and comfortable hide then they’ll use it regardless of whether it’s heated or not
