Another insightful and even handed post William - a perfect example of why taking the time to do thorough background research before committing to any historic Speedmaster purchase is vital if you don't want to lose your shirt (or in this case $1,000) ....and if a watch (and price) seems too good to be true - well you've often told us the rest!
Interesting and insightful as ever, thanks for the new content, especially in our current lockdown. I was surprised to see you recently on OF discussing the MkII telestop version as I didn't realise your interest extended to the Mark series. I would be interested to see a video by you on those and whether you find them of interest in terms of dial design etc
When I get back to my watches I do plan a mark II video. The one example I am missing is the full 18Kt gold version. I think there are very few examples.
It can happen if the dial is loose in the case. It does not have to be much, a slight movement will do it. A worn movement ring will do it. Quite how a movement ring wears, I have no idea, but we do see them replaced at service, so they do.
I purchased a speed master professional 42 in December of 2020 and then covid-19 hit and I have never had a chance to wear it and it's put away in a safe. Oh well.. I bet my kids find a Moon watch in a safe someday 😂
While you are right to be careful, this is an established seller who I have seen for some while. As ever we must remain vigilant, and make our own judgements. I have bought many watches from Ebay South America, and they all arrived. Buyers MUST do due diligence on all sellers, even USA sellers and watch for hacked accounts - IE high feedback with a break in activity, perhaps a name change, and a flurry of cheap watches after selling babyclothes / car parts etc. I would not have an issue purchasing from this seller, but I would still call them up before sending money - scammers rarely can make it through a phone call...

Thank you William! We need more content from you :)
Working on it!

@@Speedmaster101 now I'm going to wish I held on to my MkII!
Great video, I learn something every time you upload a video, Thank you!
If you wrote a book about Speedmasters it would be something else...
Thank you for the breakdown of this piece.
Thank you
Thanks William and great review of the sale. Interesting watch. So did you drop a Mark 2 racing dial into a asymmetric cases?
Yes I did! And its one of my most worn watches, I will do a video soon.
Could you do a video on the Plaisted expedition and their speedmasters? Did Omega engrave special casebacks? Many thanks.
Thats a little outside my area of knowledge I am afraid! I have seen one, and it sold well.
Great breakdown
Excellent info. Thank you
Thank you!

Thnaks so much for the info
Happy to help!
Great video, thank you
Glad you liked it!
I see on the sample dials you show the outside track and T and SWISS are worn away - how does that occur?

@@Speedmaster101 Thank you
