  • The Jokhang Temple was founded in 7th century and is the most sacred Tibetan temple. It is UNESCO World Heritage Site (as part of the Potala Palace). The Barkhor is the area of surrounding streets and the square in front of the Jokhang Temple. It is one of the popular places for devotional circumambulation for pilgrims and locals (other places are Mt. Kailash, Potala Palace, other Tibetan monasteries).

Úžasné... líbí se mi zdobnost a barevnost v Tibetu... Už jen každý dům je nazdoben, krásně zařízen... Tibet má pro mě nezapomenutelné kouzlo

I hope your family is ok. At least that generation is so strong they are warriors, you should be very proud of them. I dont get tired of watching old documentaries of such of noble culture, God bless them all.

@@javierjustiniano9326 got in touch with one cousin who is in Lhasa but didn't get in touch a lot I think cos of fears. I wish to see my Mother's siblings who are in Nomad region and share my mother about them. It is quite difficult and scary as well to go there. My parents generations are truly warriors and I am very grateful for their hard work. My generations are blessed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many sponsors from different parts of the world. I pray happiness and peace for all being.

@@serg3484 why not come for a visit? Tibet is not the same as years ago. I’m not sure you will like it or not. But it worth to find out.

It's sad that the Chinese took control of Lhasa. New paint everywhere, a large flat plaza. Much nicer for Chinese tourists and for crowd control in case the native Tibetans get any screwy ideas about their sovereignty. I'm glad that Mount Meru is in India, not China. They would turn it into another tourist area.

The chinese destroyed it in 1966. Then they rebuilt it. I'm sorry for the Tibetans, that the chinese government destroyed over 1000 monasteries and killed over one million Tibetans.

Jokhang monastery is nice historical but one hidden truth is bad buddhism in lasha.their all kings were rebirth monk in the luxury potala palace. Tibetan monks are mostly nonveg, alcoholic, married living luxury life. This kind of buddhism is bad buddhism from tibet. Buddha was born in lumbini nepal.
