Wow that viaduct is pretty special! Lovely walk and tour of this area and super narration while filming! Nice looking village! Nice to see people enjoying themselves by the riverside! The old fashion painting was cool! Mmm the ice cream looked delicious! Cute cat enjoying the sunshine! Very quaint place, typically English serving cream teas! Lovely walk across to the other place and that house left as was then another lovely walk to the quay! Thanks for taking us a long and showing us this gorgeous area 👍❤️
Thanks so much 🤗 It really is special .. a really impressive structure. The village had a really charming feel to it. That cat! Just sprawling in the sunshine added to the relaxing feel of the place. It was idyllic walking around there and to the house and Quay. Really super comment - thank you!
It is really beautiful .. very impressive! I am the other way around! I have not been to Tavistock 🤗 It’s in my list to go to though as is more of the Tamar Valley. I am loving discovering places like this that I would not normally have considered to go to on my days off before doing the channel 🤗
Thanks for this lovely trip Louise. We went here last year on a Berry's coaches day trip and were in awe at how lovely it is. I've since looked up how we could return using public transport and was keen to go to Calstock so I'm inspired to do so now thanks to you❤
Thank you Melanie! Oh, that's great that Berry's do coach trips there! I love their coach day trips! I hope you get the opportunity to go there by public transport like I did! I love the Falcon bus and the train was fast and some nice scenery.
Another great video, keep them coming. A bit further down the river is Morwelham quay, they have people dressed in Victorian costumes showing the various crafts from the era, l sure you would find that very interesting also.
Hi Louise! Loved your tour of the Viaduct - I think I would keep filming it from all angles as well! The ice cream looked delicious and the kitty definitely was hoping for someone to buy them an ice cream I think! The Honesty Shops were very neat to see - nothing like that here in Canada! It looks like a very relaxing day to walk around. Super glad you caught the train crossing the viaduct! Very fun to see.
Thank you Donna! I really want to go back to those honesty shops .. particularly the pottery one. Gorgeous stuff in there! Haha! I think you are right about the kitty wanting an ice cream! Thanks so much for the lovely comment and for watching 🤗
Calstock is a true Cornish Gem - it is up there with Kingsand and Cawsand, which you also visited recently Louise. Yes, you are right, the viaduct is made of concrete blocks in the early part of the 20th C. Mint & Choc chip is my favouite flavour of ice cream! Calstock seems even better than I remembered it! I think Cotehele is my favouite National Trust property in Cornwall - I prefer it to St. Michael's Mount. Great information on travel options there too - really useful. Yes it was a lime kiln - much industry in the Tamar Valley area, although you wouldn't think so now! It's such a lovely walk to Cotehele from the station - I remember going there with my daughter and having a picnic in the woods before going on to Cotehele. This was a truly super video Louise - and you really covered this lesser known, but magnificent, part of Kernow really, really well! (too many 'reallys' there!!) I look forward to your next South West adventure. Paul.
Thanks so much Paul! So pleased you enjoyed it! It was my first time to these places but that’s one of the many things that I love about doing the channel… having the opportunity to widen my horizon and view of wonderful West Country. There are such a wide variety of beautiful places well known and less well known that are such a joy to visit. Thanks for all the interesting info too! A picnic in the woods before getting to Cotehele sounds a lovely option. So relaxing!
@@SouthWestSundays did you get the comment I made about sending me an email? It might have been moved to your limbo folder... I'm trying to plan a trip to Somerset 😉
What an enchanting place you chose today. The viaduct was amazing & I was so thrilled that you were able to film it with a train crossing. The views from Cotehele were super, you can see that it must have been quite a climb to get to it. Thank you Louise.
This was a really beautiful area Louise and there's something so majestic about Viaducts (so glad you captured a train going over it). The cheese scone looked delicious and the perfect place for a mid-walk bit to eat. I was thinking as you were walking down to the quay what goes down has to come back up again (looked like a steep descent!) 😃
Haha! Yes! It was quite a steep but more gradual climb up. I was so happy to get a train going over it especially as they are every two hours! Pure chance like with the steam trains in Goodrington last week!
Thanks for that wonderful video, Louise. We always make a point of visiting the tea rooms at a NT property. Not been to that house, but it does look nice. See you again.
I've never heard of this area before. Thank you for showing us around Louise. Such a lovely video. So much to see and learn about. The bridge is stunning and the views, what a stroke of luck seeing the train go over. Glad you could use your NT membership. Hope you enjoyed your scone! 😍
Thanks Amanda! Two videos in a row now I have been fortunate enough to see a train crossing at exactly the right time 🤗 Lol, I got so excited in this one 🤣 The cheese scone was scrummy and yes, great to make use of NT membership 🤗
Great video Louise. What a pretty place! Not at all on my radar and I love that! Oh the big white and black duck you saw is a Muscovy duck I think. We had one on our local canal who was a bit of a local character!
Thanks so much Sarah! Really pleased that you enjoyed it. It was not on my radar either but so pleased I discovered it so I could share it when I googled ‘day trips from Plymouth’. Thanks so much for identifying the big black and white duck!! The ones I saw looked quite characterful too! Like they had a bit of an attitude 🤣 🦆
I am so glad you included some sea shanty singing!!! 🎶

Thanks Cathy! It was truly splendid and peaceful 🤗
I am so blessed to have such a mix of locations to visit for the channel!
Yes!
Fabulous viaduct, lovely village. Cream teas and ice cream always must have things to enjoy when out and about.
Haha! I totally agree Alice!
Another great place to visit is, Lanhydrock in Bodmin. (national trust).
Thank you! That’s a fab idea! That will go on my list!
I've been to Llanhydrock. It is absolutely stunning. Look forward to seeing your video when you go there Louise. 😄
Another lovely vid Louise 👌wow what an amazing place, it looks like it's stuck in the 1950s xx

Thanks so much Cheryl! Yep, hopefully! That would be such a lovely Christmas present! Such an achievement!

Lovely walk and info again Louise.
You always seem to time trains coming along viaducts and along beach fronts perfectly too😂 😂
Yes, that has happened a few times now!! The trains there are so few and far between! I could not believe my eyes!! 🤣
