      @@ezstall1 Hi Ezstall1!
Thank you so much for your comment:)
for reference The written recipe is in the description box below the video just after the title there is a grey "show more" press on it and it opens all the description box with the recipe:)
here it is to facilitate everything :
      EASY CHALLAH RECIPE:
It will yield 2 medium challah
BREAD Flour: 500g or 3cups+ 2 TBSP ( if you dunk your cup in the flour) but 4 cups and 1tbsp if you spoon and level to measure your cups of flour While measuring your flour
      SALT: 10g /2 rounded tsp
SUGAR: 8 g or 2 tsp ( you can easily double the amount of sugar to have a sweet challah : you will not need to adjust any ingredients but the rising time can be a bit slowed-down: you may add 10 minutes to the 1h30-2h rising time)
OIL ( I like using sunflower oil) 80g or 1/3 cup
Warm water: 95g or 6 tbsp
      Eggs: 2
      To proof the yeast
      95g warm water/ 6 tbsp
8g of yeast 2 rounded tsp
      4 g of sugar / 1tsp
please let me know if you ned more help!
      thank you again!

Ok Sarah.... I followed your recipe and it did great! No peeking. Perfect at 30min. I have to admit the amount of water was misleading as it was too wet. So I would say just add 1tbsp water at a time as it mixes and absorbs the water gradually.

When I was a young wife and mother I used to bake all our bread, but alas, I got pulled away. As I’m connecting with my roots (and hoping to find out how to validate them), & learning to be observant in every way I am filled with such joy! I’ve rewatched this vid several times so… here I go :) Fluff is fluff! And …oooh… I just knew it was a Bosch. How sweet should the challah be in the end? Should the flavour/sweetness be light and more closer to a yeasted dinner roll or stronger and closer to a sweet bread?

I’ve been unemployed for three months and unable to get a decent job so I’ve been baking. At the level i am it isn’t fast enough to make serious money but friends are buying and liking it. I also made them your brioche in a bag buns and some ordered a double batch for their christmas breakfast and loved them. I just wanted to say shalom to you all and thank you for helping me through this tough time. I love the degassing scene and again with the rolling pin. So satisfying! I love to braid and work with the dough. Unfortunately, my family, while admiring the challah, doesn't really care for the taste, even when I add honey. Is there a savory recipe you can suggest? My family more enjoys a multi grain bread. Fluff is fluff! Oh, one more question. What kind of mixer is that?

    • @frumitup
      @frumitup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good morning Frankie!
What a great way to start my day with reading your comment!! Thank you for that!
To answer your question: You can add savoury flavours in the dough itself just before braiding: add some cumin, paprika, salt and zaatar for a more middle eastern flavour
Add salt garlic for a more American flavour
Go for herbs like Italian mix and salt
Whatever you take, mix your spices in a bowl and put it aside then roll your your dough with the rolling pin and just before rolling it unto itself to form a cigar : add spice mix inside the braid, roll it out shape, braid then add more of the mix on top: VOILA: you have a savoury challah!
Before serving you can also add melted garlic/vegan butter for the ultimate touch!
Please let me know if you have any questions!
As per my mixer: it’s a Bosch: now it’s called Bosch universal pro.
Thank you again for being here Frankie! It means the world to me.
Stay safe and blessed sweet friend

Here is for the smaller quantity
for about 4 cups of flour:
BREAD Flour: 500g or 3cups+ 2 TBSP ( if you dunk your cup in the flour) but 4 cups and 1tbsp if you spoon and level to measure your cups of flour
      While measuring your flour
      SALT: 10g /2 rounded tsp
      SUGAR: 8 g or 2 tsp
OIL ( I like using sunflower oil) 80g or 1/3 cup
Warm water: 95g or 6 tbsp
      Eggs: 2
      To proof the yeast
      95g warm water/ 6 tbsp
8g of yeast 2 rounded tsp
