Also, it is very politically charged. Many people who live there consider themselves British (AKA, UK citizens), yet many also consider themselves definitely NOT British. Until just a smidge over 25 years ago there was still a war actively fought about this topic. And the Good Friday Agreement was only a ceasefire.
Can you see why most people tend to avoid this subject entirely?
