Dragon toes!!! 😂😂😂 Prioritize the socks since that involves showing the dyer!! Arne & Carlos just came out with 6 new Easter eggs and 12 new Easter balls. Just FYI!! 😅😅
Oh Darwin is fabulous! So is that Golden Dragon. It's my birth sign so I'm especially enjoying it all. Good thing you didn't have kids - you're entirely too busy and of course all the nieces and nephews wouldn't be so well loved - you wouldn't have time! I do admire how much you get done with all your activities - knitting, crochet, working out, band, planning meals with Mark, travel, family, and so much more. Well done.
Enjoyed your podcast, as always. Loving the SW sock patterns. Looking forward to our road trip next week, I hope to be working on the Mill Hollow shawl while you drive. ❤ that dragon, so cool. Starting to look like spring here in Indiana, will be happy to take my knitting out in the wild. Our local fair is in August I hope to have a crocheted toy to enter. You’re looking great, keep on keeping on. See you next week.
The Darwin cape is so clever! He is so cute. I love Bo the Dragon. He's going to be beautiful! I think your socks are the perfect color. I love Stephen West patterns too. I didn't go to our annual yarn festival here in Tacoma Washington. And I didn't get any of the last of Stranded Dyeworks yarn. He has quit being a yarn dyer for now. He had some beautiful colors of yarn. I did go to my local yarn shop which I haven't been to since before Covid. I got three different colors of yarn from Madeline Tosh. Then I got black slubby yarn. I think they call it Boucle, and I got this beautiful tangerine mohair silk lace from Mad Tosh, Shibui. I'm making the Sprinkled With Kindness Shawl by Cally Monster. That black with the tangerine is going to be beautiful. Like you I've got so many things I want to knit and crochet and not enough hours in the day to do it! Have fun at the concert and at your knitting group.
Hi Martyn, hope you don’t mind me saying but you look tired, don’t overdo things, it’s lovely to see your makes ,always a pleasure to spend time with you. Look after yourself x💕
Thank you Martyn for sharing this week’s crafting adventures! (Did miss you last week though 😉) Charles Darwin looks amazing! Love the detail! Your idea of seasonal displays that you have crafted is just excellent….good motivation…and that dragon! Wow!! Can’t wait to see that completed!!! I love that you are on the sock making train (and taking friends with you). I do have a piece of advice about finishing socks….take them with you everywhere….I mean everywhere!!! Two stitches (yes stitches not rounds) here and twenty stitches there do add up. If you have them with you that progress (of stitches) adds up faster than you think. If you have to find them to work on them they easily get left behind. (I know from experience) Just some advice (lunchtime at work, waiting anywhere…..if you sit you knit) Looking forward to next week’s adventures and thanks for all your hard work! ….and good luck with the band competition!
congratulations for your Darwin-doll!! great work! What a pity I live behind the brexit-wall what makes it very expensive to order from Toft. You could enter your darwin and the dragon for the Kit-Mal at The Needles at the ready-podcast. have you seen that Kevin has also started with making a Toft-animal?
Thank you Martyn for another great podcast. Loved Charles Darwin and his octopus. I think you can get Bo the dragon done, and your socks in the weekend. Happy Crafting, Petra
In quilting, when you do all the same bits, like you doing all the yellow legs, then the red toes before going onto the beads, we called that assembly line.
Oh wow, nipped off to listen to the Year of the Dragon. It's a fantastic piece of music. I used to go to the occasional brass band concert with my Dad. I actually saw my first falling star coming back from the last concert we ever went to together. Love the crochet dragon. He's going to look amazing in Your flat. Desperately trying to do a bit of crafting every day, but hands still bothering me. Back to the hospital next week for the scan/x-ray results. Hope the competition went well. Well done again on the weight loss. My bored hand are reaching for the bad stuff, the stuff that's a lot yummy! 😁🙄 Take care, have fun next weekend. xxJane 🐑🌼 Your
Glad to “see” you - been a little while 😊 Missed you …really missed the time you carve out for me to sit down and crochet while you share 😂 Hope all is well!
I have the Rainbow Sheep off Hannah too - silly how that excites me that we have something the same,, I love having your blog every week - or near as - something to look forward to. The snippets I've seen of you and your band have been awesome - look forward to them. I was going to EAYF but I've been too ill this winter - boo hiss - gutted because Hannah is going there too.
Know what it’s like trying to get something finished for a yarn festival. Have been working on my TLGG advent shawl for EAYF - and managed to finish it this weekend ahead of schedule!
A wonderful show as usual Martyn. You kept me entertained as IU was casting off the button band of the Folklore Cardigan (for my Granddughter). Nearly finished! All the best for the week ahead and I love C.Darwin!
I love the idea of seasonal displays of your work!! You need to make some nautical objects to display for the summer!! Hope the band competition went well!!
Good luck with the band competition! I love hearing & watching you play. I think you need to give the cape a clasp or tie so that it doesn’t fall off Charles. Capes usually have some fastener at the neck.
Love love love your weekly uodates I really look forward to it I'd love to go EYF or Unravel but I'll live vacariously through you Loving Darwin by the way xx
I love your spiral splash socks and yarn. The colours are so fabulous!!! Sorry for chatting so much in the comments as I watch. Can’t help it. I have thoughts.
Loving the weekly format. The next time you have a finished crochet object maybe you can tell us how you started on Toft! (I started after watching you)
Will do! This is from the archive and talks about how I started I think. There’s also a Toft playlist where I link all the videos where Toft are mentioned. th-cam.com/video/wYr-icSCo4Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=npL5MGvg9tTAz_KB
Some fabulous projects Martyn. Charles Darwin and his octopus are wonderful. Looking forward to saying hello at EAYF ☺️

OK NOW the octopus is THE cutest ever!! 🐙

I had a hunt round the internet and for your info Martyn's band - Llwydcoed Brass Band - were forth on Saturday
Thank you for that! :)

When I start my crochet, I chain on.
Right, it’s always “chain x.” And since the stitches aren’t accumulating on the hook, I don’t think there’s an “on” in it. 😉
In quilting, when you do all the same bits, like you doing all the yellow legs, then the red toes before going onto the beads, we called that assembly line.
Casting on = knitting, chaining up = crochet.

I loved doing my Bo. I started and finished my pink one just as the CAL was started. It's fabulous.

Look forward to sharing this journey with you every month!😊
❤
My work/life was so busy these past few weeks/months, I didn’t even realize that you hadn’t posted a video last week! 😱😑🤦🏻♀️
Hi Martin Mr. Darwin is so cute 🥰
Finish the sock first and, if necessary, finish the dragon at Unravel is my suggestion.
I hope all goes well at the band competition - 🤞
I’m going to unravel on the Sunday! So see you at EAYF instead!
Can you recommend a yarn fest to go to? I’ve never been to one and will need to plan travel to the mainland, which one should I pick?
Did you ever finish Mark’s sweater? I have to catch up on your videos.
Are you going to take your camera with you to unravel? I think it’s hooked on for crochet & case on for knitting but I’m not sure
See you at Unravel.
For once I understand all your wips, I joined you in wanting to do everything at once, but somehow I feel i don't get anything done ...
Won’t there be a T-Rex pattern/kit to go with the T-Rex patch?
Hi Martyn Charles Darwin super ! 👌
