- Video self-explanatory. Found evidence of mouse in our basement. Tried DIY "bottle" traps shown on TH-cam but failed. Cost hard to determine because I built with scrap materials (used old gutter screen - New $2.50 Home Depot). The mouse was caught within 15 min using Reese's Buttercup & sliced cheese in basket. Trap large enough to catch rats also?
Pro's: Humane catch and release.
Very easy and safe to set up and bait last a long time.
Safe around pets and children.
No blood and guts cleanup (more sanitary).
Con's: Requires several hours skilled work with tools.
May have to purchase materials.
Mice caught may return if entry points not repaired.
Hopefully you drove a great distance away from civilization to let that pest loose.

Yes, he will return if you do not find and fix the entry point. In my case, my brick porch had separated from my house allowing entry. I fixed this by pushing steel wool into the crack and calking. No mice so far.
How do you make the catch?
