This increases the "radius" of the E swing and makes it harder to "turn" your E. When you throw your E you should imagine a circle with the tip of your E being the center and you are on the perimeter. For maximum E turn for minimal walking distance, you should attempt to walk the perimeter of the circle!

I know and implement almost everything from this guide but somehow I managed to fk up the most obvious part - my build. It was because I used to view this champion more like a mage who kills them all, not like tank-mage who plays to draw enemy attention. My version goes well in diamond or lower, but when it comes to master+ games I found way more success playing him like you do. Don't get me wrong about not learning more from this guide, its very useful and complex, I just play way too much Swain and constantly watching your videos :D

Hey Husum dropping this comment to say that I was hardstuck emerald 4-3ish for hundreds of games, picked up swain, watched your guides and other content and in about 70 games of swain made it to diamond. on a 60% wr.
If there's one thing I've learned from this guide (other than that I'm a degenarate for playing mainly support Swain), it's using Aery and Scorch. I can't stress enough just how lost I've been ever been since the durability update regarding the rune page. Back in the day you would play electrocute and you were good to go, but it's not nearly as good anymore. So I've been tinkering but nothing really sticked. Spellbook gives a lot of flexibility as well as access to stopwatch and Future's Market but it's definitely lacking if you need to deal actual damage early on. Grasp is kinda shit all around. Conqueror takes ages to stack and it doesn't even give that much AP (the healing part is a complete joke too, it's been nerfed so hard over the years you can't realistically consider it). Comet deals respectable damage but you can E pull people out of it which may or may not screw your combos if you decide to let the comet proc. Phase rush is definitely usable and good in a variety of situations but it isn't a go to. Glacial Augment is mostly redundant even in botlane unless you're planning to abuse it to spam all in which is rare and falls off anyway. First Strike is just bad, there's a variety of games where you can't reliably use it and it's a hyper scaling rune which doesn't fit with Swain in the first place. Predator has been dead forever. Dark harvest is... meh, even for smurfing I reckon it's not that good. I did actually play around with Aery a fair bit too as an alternative to Comet but even Aery never felt that amazing... Then again that might just be a support Swain issue more than anything else, it's really good at bullying the Nautilus matchup even harder than usual though. As for Scorch, I always considered that rune to be pretty goddamn awful but I will definitely give it a try again on the occasion I play on solo lanes, I have to admit that spamming it off cooldown with Qs amounts to a decent amount of lane and kill pressure, though I tend to prefer water walking for the roaming potential, or rather used to since Riot shot the movespeed in the head. That being said, looking forward to the new season, I just love trying out weird builds on that champion, I've had a fair bit of success with Mandate/Rocketbelt down there in Emerald. Yeah it's probably not as good as Rylai's rush but it has a few applications and Rocketbelt catches a lot of people off guard.

I'd really advice celerity boots with the superserver build against melee + full skillshot comp. I usually play it when I see things like Elise Irelia Syndra. When you ghost it litteraly makes you become a ghost that slides through skillshots easyly while being able to close the range (for syndra for example) and kite melees because you have 10 times their ms. But that might be cause I'm emerald and people aren't good at dodging idk. Try it someday on an alt account I'm sure you won't be disappointed by the feeling it gives.
Love the guide! I’m a swain OTP but still learned a few things (mostly itemization) so thanks! I would move Crystal Rose up a tier though because your W if centered on enemy recalling is often nearly the same color as most animations and invisible to them :)

Husum, considering how tanky the roa build is. Is getting an early dark seal and turning it into a majais after you have a few stacks a good idea? You lose the stacks really hard due to how much you heal/the hp you have and gives you hp and ap which is for a really cheap cost

When I play him, my usual build ends up being RoA into Seraph as my core two items, followed by Rylai and Zhonias or Abyssal. Is Seraph not that worth it?

Also, having a rylay, you can use a combination of q e, q w to slow down the enemy and make it easier to hit him
I think swain abilities are like a medium skill level but the hard part about him is the macro/knowledge/how to play matchups/fundamentals
Btw when i start 1/0 i build cull cause it garants me alot of gold and it is a cool way to swain starters remember to farm on side lanes

have tried it and didnt find it great. I think all these runes are inferior to aery (and phase rush matchups)

I wanted to ask you, how do you feel about Seraph? When I play him, my usual build ends up being RoA into Seraph as my core two items, followed by Rylai and Zhonias or Abyssal. Is Seraph not that worth it?
too much mana its not worth it. Really delays your core great items. Wouldent recommend.
