  • Here’s one of my fans that hasn’t been seen in a while. This is my 2005 Honeywell 16” pedestal fan model HS-1750 (white). There’s even the black version model HS-1751, but they’re the same fans.
Before making this video, I decided to do a blade swap as you can see. Those blades and grilles were pulled off a 14” Sunpentown (SPT) pedestal fan model SF-1469-made sometime between 2015 or 2016. I believe it was purchased sometime around then.
For a while this fan has been running slower than normal with the original blade set. I have a feeling that the original capacitor might be going bad, but I’m not sure. It’s either that or the they installed an underpowered one back in the day, making it run slower than other 16” Honeywell and Duracraft fans I’ve seen over the years.
Surprisingly, my black high velocity (hv) model HS-161-TGT runs a bit faster with the blades from this fan. I also discovered that it uses a beefier capacitor than this unit.
The one that’s in this one uses an OEM 3 microfarad while my HV model utilities a 4 microfarad which makes a huge difference in the speed RPM’s. Therefore, after doing some testing and playing around, I discovered that the 14” SPT blades happen to fit this fan and decided to do this test. I might end up using the fan like this or maybe not, but it does run faster with the SPT blades.
I originally was going to upgrade the capacitor to a 4 microfarad, but I changed my mind for now. It’s not hard to replace the capacitors in these fans after watching Jordan U do that on some of his fans…but I’d rather not take a chance on that yet since the fan still runs ok with the smaller blades.
I hope you all enjoy what you see, and thanks for watching.
