I imagine this is the wavelength B1ad3 has been teaching for the past few years. IMO your ability to teach these ideas can get you paid. thanks for the amazing short form content
No lol it's stuff that we don't even do like counter strat and do specific things against certain teams. They study what they do and what their habits are, he's reminding them what could be a good idea or what they should maybe do obviously other than the igl but I'm talking bigger picture. This is stuff they do on a daily basis that they've mastered a long time ago to the point it's the best it can be. Think of pop flashes. The player is already good enough to clear the angles and play well and the assists are good so it's up to other stuff outside of this
@@yetisdaddy ya the coaches spend more time on pop flashes than teaching linear gameplay for the PAST FEW YEARS. academy teams have been around for decades and every player does this perfectly. LOL I guarantee you the linear ideas spoken about here are the backbone to any strat or pop flash
Interesting concept. Kind of realized something else after watching this as to what you would do when you are no longer able to play linear cs AND you have no team support or util. (ex: retaking A inferno through wagon, no smoke for pit/site, no teammate to support) And I think the best answer would be to just gamble and commit to clearing one angle vs trying to flick back and forth between both (mini pit/site) You’ll have 50% chance of committing a duel if he’s there vs flicking back and forth which makes you have no chance of winning either duel. Thanks for the revelation bro, also i’m jealous of the beard
Always had the beard, but my dad's bald so the future ain't so bright lol. One thing to consider is that when you're in a spot where you can't play linear CS, and you have teammates or utility to support, you probably aren't in a 5v5 anymore. So it comes down to using your map control and identifying the right gaps in the defense to apply pressure.
@reni Absolutely right. I know for me, the reason I would flick back and forth constantly is because I was scared of losing the fight without getting a shot off, which made me think I was doing something wrong. But sometimes you just have to gamble not clearing angles and if it doesn't work, it was still your best choice
@@samRi_cs I've often found myself thinking like this too. But I always check everything anyways because being knifed because you didnt check the angle behind you is just embarrassing lmao
I like to think of it a bit like book moves/early game in chess - the early round can be played in a controlled manner that is highly explored. Mid-round is where the meat of decision-making and teamplay exist, and late round generally shrinks in available controlled options (lower utility, fewer players, and forced objective play: "I have to get a kill + plant before time runs out" or "I have to retake") the chess analogy breaks down because cs is not deterministic, you can make good decisions still get destroyed, better decisions and still get destroyed. In many situations, the best options available have 15-30% chance of success.
I like these recent videos showing concepts of cs. These are the basics that make players good, and it helps seeing it laid out in these video formats. Keep it up!
bro, your attitude toward playing cs is academic, I love it! I am an engineer myself, and I can see why it is much easier to play with such an attitude
There is also timing evolved, when you check some corner A, and move on to the next corner B thinking that corner A is clear, enemy could peek from corner A, and you are dead. There is randomness in every aspect of the game evolved, you can't just sit and calculate a foolproof way, randomness is what makes games interesting and tempting to play again thinking that this time you will get better results.
U hold that angle for 1 sec if ur gamesense tells that he wil peek again or just keep moving forward to clear other angles cuz he may prefire the spot when he peeks again and u will die
@@abhijaysaraswat83 gamesense isnt enough sometimes in situations like this when timing can just get the better of you. my point was that he shouldve gone over how util is still necessary instead of just always “linearizing.”
this is kinda good as a basic concept but when it comes to competitive team cs it gets really hard, because then there may be 2 ct peeking at each other's contact, boosting, flashing, pushing, off angles, jiggling, jumpspotting etc etc etc.
Man, its amazing that I find myself already doing a lot of the stuff your videos already does and I'm still just a silver 😅 I play almost the same exact way every round and I either end up getting hit with some incredibly odd timing from the enemy team or my aim just sucks so much I miss angles I was pre-aiming. Just goes to show better to be lucky than to be good
Ur absolutely correct in mm its hard to play slowly and clear each and every angle its filled with monkes. Its better to just work on ur aim and watch demos so atleast know what to do every round
3000 hours of Matchmaking had made me pro at linear CS to be honest. Inferno Banana, Overpass long, Dust2 tunnels to Mid or short, Ancient A, Vertigo Mid, Nuke Squeky or Ramp, Mirage I don't play ;). These are my spots, I'll meat you there!
yeah cool but one awp and you're dead. Do the same routine everytime and you'll eat nades. You say you can have apps control with your linear thing but at a decent level you will encounter boiler boost, a set up with 1 guy at CT balcony and 1 facing the wall in the little corner on your left when you go up the stairs as a T. Your "concept" is basically just having a good crosshair placement, and it's based off an hypothesis that is very untrue (you win all your duels). In real games you lose duels, that's why you need to add trading capacity into map control and the fact you would never take apps by yourself if for instance a team mate got an open kill banana. You act like you can chill long and clear angles easily while the most important thing in this situation would be to make sure a team mate or grenades are covering short
this is a fantastic tip, but isn't this common sense, like maximizing your chances is the most basic of concepts, it might come natural to me because i try to carry games myself, so i mostly play as the entry fragger, but still i feel like everyone above dmg should understand this by default, no?
"Let's assume you win all the aim duels when you have pre-aimed the spot" Why should we assume this? I understand the concept of linear map control at an abstract level, but the way this video is portraying taking advantage of that knowledge is flawed and not just because of the above statement. For sure you can't peek into two angles at once without being in danger, but you are never safe in a cs game. People don't always hold perfect angles - in fact, playing an off-angle is pretty much the default mode of playing. Information is always a great advantage in a game of imperfect information, and you should always be playing the information game. Bait for information. Collect information. Then act on that information. Going in blind with just a pre-aim is far from ideal. Sure, sometimes you have to do it, but I really don't think it should be taught as anything but a "when all else fails" tactic. What linear map control means to me is that all the ground you have taken is now under control. You have gathered information about the map up to the front line. You know that there is no one in apps because you have cleared it, so your teammates in middle do not have to worry about boiler. You have essentially cordoned off a section that you know is safe - a linear section that you push further into enemy territory (hopefully) as the round timer ticks on.

When it comes to boiler you also need to remember balcony angle, you can literally die while you are inside boiler and the enemy is on top of balcony.
Wow nice
Thanks
Yeah all of that is fine and dandy except when you're clearing long and as you approach library, someone runs through CT and shoots you in the back.
