      Your welcome! I'll also do a video on how to cultivate fungi species that need a plant host in the spring.

    Thank you very much for putting this info out here. I have just had a very succesful first attempt. Its overactive due to, too much moisture in the glass jar. I have added more sugar. Next time i will let the rice drain and dry longer before putting it in the jar after washing. Thanks again.👍

    This was very interesting. Thank you. I plan to do this soon. In the video, you mention that shoveling (or tilling) breaks the mycelium web. I'm wondering how I would get around that. I dig to aerate the soil, to weed, to plant, to mix in organic matter. My soil is sandy-ish, but definitely too firm to do by hand. ...anyhow, what I am really wondering, is if you'll do a video on alternative methods that you recommend. I'd very much appreciate it.

      Hi Helen. In our biochar video, we show a no-till method of gardening. By not stepping on the bed again it is not compacted and it is full of organic matter and creatures to aerate the soil. The biochar is full of holes that help aerate the soil also.

    Have been following your methods for biochar and superbrew as close as I can. Finshed biochar is now mixed with manure and standing by for addition of superbrew. (My eycalyptus leaf compost pile is going great guns, too! Mix of molasses and urine over the well-shredded leaf pile and generously watered in got it heating up nicely.) I recently gathered separate soil samples from under euc trees, a huisache, an acacia, a maguey and a spruce tree, culturing in rice to see which looks best to add to the superbrew, now mixed and brewing for 5 days. Appreciated the info on what the different colored hyphae signify. So far, after 6 days, all samples only show WHITE hyphae - and LOTS of it (I suppose mostly from the rice itself?) After how long in a covered jar in a warm room should colors begin to show? And what would it mean if it only stays white?? And should it still be added to the brew if it does? Very excited how this is all coming together! Thanks a million!

      Excellent glad to hear you getting the eucalyptus composted!
      If you only get white hyphae that is good also. They are the good ones. You don’t need to wait until other species present themselves to use it. At 20 C we had colours after 5 days. If warmer it would be sooner.

      @@PlanetHealers Whew! Glad to know I can use all that lovely white hyphae. Will push on to the next step tomorrow! I would also like to arrange a consultation with you regarding a land reclamation/permaculture project I plan to undertake here. Is there a way I may contact you directly about it? Thanks!

      Dear Superbrew Master, Sorry to pester you with specific questions, but I suppose that may be common from non-biologist newbies like me who are making the first superbrew! After adding the hyphae a couple of days ago, the brew smells a bit like fruity beer. Is this normal or did I do something wrong along the way? No head of foam, but otherwise even looks like dark beer. (NOT going to give it a taste test!) 😝

    This is fascinating. I'd love to try it and reintroduce to our garden that we are trying to naturalize (which has been over-run by invasive species for a long time). Do you seal the containers while you're letting the fungi culture in the rice?

    • @PlanetHealers
      @PlanetHealers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The process is aerobic so not tightly closing the jars to release the CO2 produced by the digestion of the rice. Also not open to the air as fungi are in the air and can contaminate the sample.

      @@PlanetHealers Hi again, I have a question about colours in the culture. On day 2-3 I had some (like one or 2 grains of rice) turned pink, which I recall in the video you said was not a good sign. Now on day 7 they look orange (lots of other colours in there too: blues and greens and yellows). Should I keep these cultures or toss them and try again?

    Is there an ideal temperature to grow the fungus?

    • @PlanetHealers
      @PlanetHealers  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically room temperature works well. Over 30C can inhibit some species. Under 10C you get slower growth.

      I also accidentally made many white fungis in a peanut. I saw the peanuts i have being kinda soft and hoping it will still germinate so i get a container like a small rectangular container like 5imch wide and 1inch tall, i put peanuts in the container with water half volume of the peanuts i put and then i remembered i have them under our table i forgot i put them there and then what ive seen is that there are may white fungis, all whites, little bit of blacks just a little. i was surprised and i did not covered it also. I just put it in a dark place under our table.
