- Last weekend I had an issue with stolen amaryllis at the flower stand. I’m unsure if I’ll sell them again before Christmas. The pad for the shed has been layed and Josh has started to install the siding! I’m thankful that Carissa from the TH-cam channel Carissa’s Garden is giving us a tour of her dried flower shed and attached flower stand! What a brilliant idea! There is no way whoever steals from you has ever watched your videos because I can’t imagine how heartless a person would have to be to know how much work you put into your bouquets and how much of your heart is in it and then take from you.

Hi Danielle, I love the arrangements with the Spartacus, and Peacock amaryllis, winter berry and evergreens in them, try adding the red winter berries to the more white toned colors of amaryllis see of they sell that way. Your stand looks amazing. I feel bad for you to have been underpaid for your arrangement. Its so unfair and very disappointing. Thanks for taking us to Canada that was fun! No passport required lol. I loved the shed with all the dried flowers hanging from the ceiling! And the side of the shed for selling cut flowers was a great idea! I will definitely check out her TH-cam channel. Thanks Danielle for featuring another Canadian Gardener. As a Canadian TH-cam Gardener myself I would love to interact with other Gardeners in Canada. I am in a colder climate zone 3b but definitely love connecting with gardeners world wide. It would be fun to have a coffee chat with other gardeners some day!

Maybe you can put a secure camera near the stand. Stealing, especially at Xmas time seems so wrong. This shed is beautiful and spacious! Flowers look beautiful in there!
People never cease to disappoint. You work hard and those who steal or don't pay the full price are lazy and thieves. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Ring Door Bell - with solar charger will help you a lot!! You will see on your phone when anyone approaches your flower stand and it is a two way speaker so people can ask you questions. Also, having a Venmo QR code available will give people more buying options! You can do it, girl!!!

I dont see how it is fair to Danielle to have to take the burden of this person's reason/circumstance. Flowers are a luxury, if one cannot afford it, they shouldnt buy it.

I’m so sorry about the “stolen” Amaryllis arrangement. Ugh-so bummed when this happens! They are so gorgeous and such a good bargain at 20$. Folks just don’t get it!!!

Sorry about your amaryllis. People who don’t grow don’t realize the work, time and money involved. Doing crafts myself I find people like your work for minimal or nothing. Your great attitude as always is a plus. Your new shed will be glorious!!!

As a Canadian Gardner it's always nice to discover other Canadian youtube channels since, I am also in a zone 4 (2 feet of snow here right now), so I will definitely be checking out Carrissa's channel, thanks for the link!! ❤
Also how arrogant of that person to decide what to pay for your arrangements!! Unfortunately people like that ruin it for the rest of us honest people who appreciate the time and work involved in making and selling arrangements.

Loved the flower shed visit. Subscribed to Carissa’s channel! Would love to see more flower sheds. Would you consider doing a video or a series on cute sheds around the country? The more budget friendly the better. Sorry about the theft of your arrangements. So disheartening.

$20 for those beautiful arrangements is already a steal. Maybe the amaryllis ones should be limited to prepaid special orders only.
Beautiful arrangements, really inspires me to grow more amaryllis. Maybe consider taking a pretty laminated picture that can be used from year to year of your arrangements in place of the actual, and then ppl will have to come to your door to purchase? This may thwart theft and you will not lose so much of your investment? Love your channel!
Is there anyway you could add a wireless camera to the shed? (SimpliSafe has a wireless one with a battery and solar sensor.) It will alert you when there is movement, and there is a blinking light so people will know they are being recorded. I think people will be more likely to be honest if they know you have their picture.
Some folks stink. I find the $8 insulting. The arrangement was beautiful and it was worth so much more than that. Would you ever consider putting a camera in your stand? A 'smile, you're on camera' sign might help deter thieves.

Danielle: I'm sorry you had that experience with your beautiful amaryllis arrangement. People can sometimes be so thoughtless. Can you tell me what those green stakes are you had in your hand and where you got them? My daughter is looking for something strong to stake her dahlias -- any suggestions would also be welcome.
An 8x8 structure on a 10x10 pad? How will you keep water from seeping under the floor?
The cottage is going to be amazing! It's too bad about the amaryllis, I would prefer to give the bouquets away to family and friends rather than risking that some people would take advantage of underpaying for your high end bouquets (that already are under priced....at least where I live). Perhaps going forward you would just do special orders on your local site...no need for you to lose income due to a few bad eggs.

Why can’t you set up a “faux” camera. If thieves think they are being video taped maybe they will think twice about stealing? Cute shed!
Some people want 1950’s prices. That is so unethical to not pay the asking price, they should have walked away and left it for those who would.
I don’t condone stealing. But. Maybe the person was depressed and only had $8. Like your story of when you had your baby and went out to buy flowers.
Take the amaryllis out - you aren’t a charity and don’t deserve that abuse from people stealing your things. The bouquets can be greens boughs and berries etc

I am a gardener and realize how much money, time and energy goes into growing all the lovely flowers you put into them! I wish I was close enough, because I would have a new bouquet every week! I think $25 is reasonable to up your arrangements. Especially for the amaryllis.

Instead of selling your more expensive arrangements at the stand can you build a mailing list of your customers and advertise that way? And maybe put up a camera so you can see the ones that are not paying properly? I'm sorry this has happened...your bouquets are beautiful and people should be paying properly cor them!

Sorry to hear that they did that. Have you ever considered selling them online (or via facebook page) and then that people make an appointment to come and collect them at your door? Then you know how many to prepare and they will not get stolen.

Why don't you put a note in your flower stand to take pre-orders for amaryllis bouquets with prepayment including a picture of what the amaryllis will look like? Then have limited pick up time of 2 hour window for them to pick them up by ringing your doorbell. You might find a handful of steady year round clients this way. Get their phone numbers and emails so you can add them to a marketing list. If I was your neighbor, I'd be more inclined to buy frequently knowing what's going to be available that week.
White amaryllis are too much like white Easter lilies. Plus there is something about a potted amaryllis that is more intriguing to me than it being cut. I guess it depends on the arrangement.

I jidt bought a shed for exactly what she is using hers for- i plan to use it to sell flowers & some vegetables & ise it as a studio to build my bouquets. Were planning to totally insulate it though, so that i can ise it to store flowers throughout the week bendy i also sell at the farmers markets on the weekend, & i need something to hold the flowers at a cooler temp & my fridges I got out of the garbage aren'tbig enough anymote. 😂
But she gave me an awesome idea! I love the idea of an awning on the side! To at least put a couple of the bouquets outside, for people to see- especially in the beginning when I first open!
Just a thought, are you going to move the birdhouse because we won't be able to see it looking down the lane with your new Cottage in front of it.

Don’t worry about moving the bird house, birds are only roosting in them this time of year, not nesting. If you move it, they will find it. If you have to leave it down for a few days, they will find other places to roost. God’s creatures are very resilient.
Canada is a big country. Saying its snowing in Canada is the same as saying its snowing in the states. I'm in Canada - no snow happening here. I'm even in the same province, but I'm on the coast, not the interior. I guess it's something we on the coast of BC are sensitive about, our climate is pretty mild and we hardly ever get snow, a fact which seems to surprise most people in the states.

I think the general public dont realize just how expensive they are.
They probably think they are a sort of day lily ( even though wrong season).
You'd be amazed, at how ignorant most of the population is about gardening and price point.
Perhaps a poster with the cost of a bulb and photos of the steps that go into growing them, from just showing its bud, to just opening and then fully open.....to see the lengthy process...or else sell any of the cheaper Amaryllis lillies perhaps (red ones) and keep the same $20 price.
The public will soon get it...duh, they better!
In my area, they would have ripped the honesty box off the fence with a jack hammer, Lol.

I give you so many kudos. Your arrangements are beautiful. They should/could easily be sold for soooo much more. My heart breaks seeing that someone stole by underpaying. Some sort of camera system might act as a deterrent. You put so much love and work into those bouquets. On a more fun note :) .... I purchased my first amaryllis and fell in love - now have about 10 more on order. I'll have blooms thru til spring I suspect. Also, thank you for introducing us to Carissas garden - that garden shed is amazing! I plan to grow strawflowers this spring for the first time and may have to dry and put together some wreaths. Really enjoying your videos. Off to watch some more!!!
I'm so sorry for your lost monies that awful, good thing you don't have to pay Canadian prices for Amaryllis. I paid anywhere from $25-$67 depending on the size the bulb up in Calgary Alberta Canada.

I was recently inspired by the tropical floral arrangements on the show Golden Bachelor. They were in Costa Rica in the next to the last episode from a couple weeks ago. The arrangements were so colorful and unique it made me want to try to grow some tropicals somehow. Have you ever arranged with tropical florals?

Ugh, so disheartening, dismaying, disappointing to have someone walk off with your hard work; I guess it is a cost of business one must consider. Curious to know if your florist is interested in the cut amaryllis? Maybe that is the more dependable sales avenue, or perhaps people could order on line? Wishing you ultimate success! I have a shed in my nursery garden, of a similar size. The Garden room is used for my pre-reception children. So, we have heating as there are books in the room which we use all year round. Amazing space for both kinds of nursery be it flowers or children.

Stunning arrangements. It is disappointing when one underpays, yet perhaps having a positive thought on it as blessing that person. Maybe you could sell a single stem for 8.00 and so people with less money might select that option.

I'm sorry about the short changed amaryllis. I worked for a little bit for a florist & was surprised at how many ppl are always shocked at the prices of flowers (as you say, ppl don't get how expensive ranunculus & other flowers can be). Also, where I live in NY ppl don't realize the taxes and how that adds on to every purchase. How about a small sign (very simple) stating that the flower stand is being actively monitored? I know you probably don't want to go that route but it is a reality for businesses.
Very sorry about the theft, there is no excuse for that. Underpaying is not acceptable either and you really can't allow that. Do you think it would help to have a surveillance camera installed, it might be worth it to avoid the losses. Do you think your local police would be willing to patrol your area? Your arrangements are stunning and well worth the price. Hope your shed project goes smoothly and you have lots of enjoyment and use from it. A much better idea to have the shed centre. Otherwise each time I watch I would have been saying " Should have put the shed centre"!! So disappointing for someone to come along and steal your amaryllis. The larger amaryllis bulbs seem to be even more expensive in the UK. I have nurtured four over the summer months from last year, no sign of flower buds so far.
Would you know if I buy amaryllis bulbs this winter and not plant them, can I still plant next winter?
I think you should try doing the traditional solid red amaryllis. People like Christmas traditions. The other colors are pretty, but they might be better for after Christmas/ new years.
Just a thought, but perhaps a plexi glass over your arrangements and they could pay at the door. Sorry to hear that. Your arrangements are gorgeous.
