    Please turn off "Stable Volume" in the video playback setting (the first menu item after clicking the gear icon) as for some reason, this new TH-cam playback feature made the video much noisier than usual.

    Awesome to see you also reassemble it again. Thanks for this video :D

    Not actually having handled this particular device, I'd say the recessed USB connector is to protect the board from being damaged if you drop it or bash the cable when it is plugged in. Having seen plenty of laptop USB and power connectors damaged by being bent sideways, this looks like a good thing to me.

    Awesome detailed disassembly and re-assembly. I invested in a 2C42 for working on generator and engine projects, mainly for the engine welder/plasma cutter/generator on a, 18HP opposed twin B&S engine like used in their hybrid car, garden tractor platform project. Been busy on other concurrent projects... though left off with determining if I want to make a shunt module to measure and log current waveforms with or determine which current probe would be best to invest in. I don't really want to spend much since thinking about being cost effective as I can get, so debating hacking a cheap current clamp meter to make a probe vs designing or copying a design, making and calibrating. Isn't helping I just saved some pre-scrap priced electronics lab test equipment at still unbelievable pricing to me and the equipment was present after a few estate sales. Different strokes for different folks and I'm a happy new owner of my first real spectrum analyzers. Now to find a HP 85662A Display for the hopefully able to build a in spec 8568B from that and the two 8568A's. Anyways, great reminder to spend some time to move the current probe and most likely concurrent shunt module forward for measuring higher current waveforms. Neat also, is I've read these can be hacked out... not certain from reading if the hardware on the 2C42's can support 2C72 functionality... though reminds me that was the other topic to read into some more. Thanks for sharing!

      @@KerryWongBlog Thank you! Good logic I prefer and have faith in, though appreciate the motivation. Where I'm challenged with follow through execution, is the time appropriations due to life in general. Where life being defined as literally, time and resources. Challenging having the resources and not the time. :-|

    12:53: That chip marked "AVG" is a TLV272DGK

    The "Pulse transformer" is most likely powering the DMM side, at least judging by the components around it (a rectifier diode + some large caps on DMM side, a driving transistor on the other side). The recessed USB connector might be for maintaining the CAT II safety rating, although I'm not sure since the DMM side is isolated + there's other exposed metal parts like the BNCs for the probes.

    I had to replace the batteries 6 days after I received mine. Tested the capacity of the original batteries the one on the left was 2337mAh the one on the right was 2537mAh. Since I have replaced the batteries the meter works fantastic for my needs.

    I have a problem with my 2D42. One day the scope function didn't work any more. When i turn it on, starts in DMM funtion, and when i press the scope funtion, it shows the oscilloscope screen and immediately turns off. What can i do?

    I have that model but I’m wondering, do you think the SD connector can be added?

    My device keeps discharging the batteries even if turned off. If I fully charge it and put on shelf, then after 2-3 weeks the batteries will be completely discharged. What do I do with this?

    • @KerryWongBlog
      @KerryWongBlog  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, unfortunately the standby current is pretty high on this 2D72 as I mentioned in the video.

      @@KerryWongBlog May be you have an idea how to fix this? I am thinking about adding a small switch at the back side :)

    • @KerryWongBlog
      @KerryWongBlog  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Sukhinov You can certainly do that. The two batteries are configured as common anode if I recall correctly. So you can cut the trace on the anode side and install a switch there if you want.

      I would also like it because I have one of the same model, it doesn't work but I opened it and identified the uc6 as it was getting very hot and I couldn't see the uc code

    How is the rubber? Mine has gotten very sticky and yucky now after a couple of years. Very disappointed. I am watching your video to see if I can just totally remove the rubber shell.

    • @KerryWongBlog
      @KerryWongBlog  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, you can removed it. I did that during the teardown.

      @@KerryWongBlog i used your method with the screwdriver but somehow the rubber has broken down a lot and it ripped immediately even though I used very little force. Anyway will use it without the rubber cover. Won’t be measuring 500 V anyway haha
