I walked into one of the few local computer stores in my town on Saturday looking for a PCIe power splitter cable. So I notice a dusty box on the shelf, MSI 5700XT Mech edition. It was $735AUD so pretty cheap by today's standards. I said "how many of those do you have at that price"? The young sales person was like "um just that one, its an old type now, no one wants them". I said "Ill take it thanks". So you never know where treasure is going to show up.

I've been thinking, it's not too stupid to mine in a bear market, even when it's not technically profitable, because you'll load up on more Ethereum over time and you can hold them to sell in a bull market for massive profits. In other words if you time well the sale of your mined coins, it's always a bull market.
I know what you are saying, but think about this for a second. If you mine ethereum when its not profitable then it makes more sense and profit to just buy ethereum. Why? Because once you go below the market point, you basically pay extra on top of market price for the ethereum if you are going to mine itm thats why its a loss. Because you are paying for electricity and you end up with less coin than the value of the electricity you purchased to mine it. When you buy it, which means instead of paying for electricity to mine it you just buy it directly, you will end up with more ethereum than if you were to mine it at a loss. And you dont put your rigs through that stress.

Super informative video man, I had a question, I have the money to set this up, but I’ve seen a lot of talk about etherium not being profitable soon with how they might be changing miner profits, since this is one of the easiest and most profitable coins; would you suggest I wait till the change happens or should I just start now?
Great content dude! Question, because Im about to build my first farm, is a good idea to make it of RX 570 8GB? I can buy like 20 of those cards for cheap, but still thinking if is okey to go with them or buy other cards instead, maybe less cards but get newer models. Thanks if you can help! Ah, almost forgot, what is "proof of stake"? I have read about it but dont understand it at all and how it can impact the price of the coin.
2 seperate issues addresed in rhe video. Proof of stake is simple, new ether goes to those who already hold ether. Really terrible tbh it will lead to centralization, and once that happens regulation. But regulations make thing stable in the eyes of investors. It would push the price up short term, but limit the technology long term. Eip 1559, is a coin burn. Most of the mining fees would be destroyed rather than paid out. This reduces ether in circulation. Supply goes down a little bit with each transaction. This will push prices up due to lowering supply. However, if it doesnt raise high enough for the 2 eth per block byitself being generated by miners to make up for the lost ether they used to be paid, miners will be pissed and rightly so. Essentially its prioritizing those who hold large sums of etheruem, and turning a profit on the stack of etheruem at the price of everyone who built it. But, if it does go nuts from the coin burn, who knows its crypto, and say it goes up to 5000$ per ether after the burn starts, it might be tolerable for most people involved to see less etheruem, but potentially more dollars being made.

@@masmotorsports that's incredible dude I literally just started mining on both of my gaming rigs but I'm looking to scale up in a larger way right now. @@masmotorsports anything sub three months roi time frame is beautiful. People get into mining with projections of a year. The time is now dude even with stuff being overpriced. Thanks for the info
The boom of defi caused increased load on the Ethereum network. In an ideal world, when that happens more people would see the opportunity and make mining rigs, however, with the production/logistics issues caused by COVID there are no graphics cards available to buy. That causes a shortage on miners and drives the prices of transaction and maybe even Ethereum itself even higher, making mining even more profitable. In the end it drives the price of the few available GPUs even higher because miners will buy them at almost any price because they will profit from them. High GPU prices because of miners make the gamers angry and have prejudice against mining, when they could mine with their gaming rig at least when they're working/sleeping for a few extra bucks a day, decreasing all that problem because I'm sure as hell there are a lot more gamers than miners out there.
but when miners have 10x as many GPUs as gamers,. it doesnt matter. the ratio is way beyond gamers, the huge Etherium Farm in Iceland alone has 10s of thousands of GPUs.
Notice the 1080ti is never mentioned as a card, I've just started mining and currently getting 30 mh/s i wonder if that's bad. I also got a 2060hq on a laptop and getting about 21 mh/s. With a 3070 on way so I'm wondering if should pop the 1080ti into a second machine and leave it running just for mining, or at those speeds would it really not be worth it. Any advice would be appreshated. ^
Is there any validity in buying a gaming set up with one of the recommended cards to get going on smaller mining while I collect more cards to ultimately build a full farm?

Sometimes (happened twice, I started mining saturday, saw a bunch of videos and read a lot of sites before but none mentioned anything like it) when I'm mining ETH, the cmd just stall (like the last line just stays there, it doesn't update goes up, nothing, just stays there, and the CMD doesn't crash or anything it just 'stops' but my GPU still goes to 100% like if it's mining) and yesterday actually it made my GPU (I believe it was the GPU) overheat, I had to unplug the PC from the wall, wait a few minutes and only then I could turn the PC on again. I've set a 4-hour event on Windows event manager so that after 4-hour it closes the miner and re-open it after 5minutes, so that if it it's stalled it would 'reset'. Is it ok?

You're killing it today, Son!
Hi mate, thanks for the vid and channel in general.
Can I ask you what is the price of 1kWh that you are paying?
Hey @sonoftech with everything going on is this still good?? the prices?? Thank you!!
First! You rock by the way love the talking heeeeeaaaadddd vidddeeeoos
I agree very good videos
Ya I been watching everyone in the space for a month always scared to comment cause of the spammers/ scammers but I want to support everyone I watch so I been trying to give them as much support as I can. Easy to hit like and comment!

I am selling all my older power hungry cards locally and replacing with 5600xts. I Know I am overypaying by about 50 bucks a card but I am halving my power consumption heading into summer wich will save me whatever I will endup overpaying. Keeping power the same I will be able to add 1/3 more cards. About to sell all my vegas soon.
you could just undervolt them
Great explanation 100% agree. thanks.
Please talk more about sharting
You don‘t know the prices in Switzerland 🇨🇭 🙈 The RX580 starts at 450 CHF. (480 $) and every other card is over 1000.- CHF. ( 1075$) so we need to calculate about 120-130 Days in 💩
in my region rx 580 600$
Wait do you have a gears of war 1 tatoo as a Gears of War channel that loved number 1, thats awesome!
Microcenter open box. Paid $500 for a RX 6800 and $203 for RX 5500 XT 8GB
Thanks for the helpful videos, I have watched a few and had to subscribe. I just recently got a 5700xt power color at MSRP so I have been looking for help with mining. Currently using nice hash since I am still learning from all of your videos how to do it myself.
Using Twitter will be impossible, I have a program running on my PC that looks at notification stock discord’s and when ever they post a link for a gpu that comes in stock it imminently full screens google chrome to the store page so I can try buying it, I was able to get 1x 3080 like that 2 months ago and haven’t been able to do it since, the only people getting the cards right now are unemployed that have the same script running and they are already ready for it to open and to buy it, everyone just has to wait for Bitcoin to drop
What crypto should we look to mine when ethereum goes PoS??
raven
My strat for getting gpu's? I live down the street from a Microcenter.
Great video. What others gpu manufacturers offer notify option?
I got a 3070 yesterday at microcenter and went to a different microcenter to get another using my brothers ID since we’re twins 😂😂
Twin perks
How long does microcenter make you wait before buying more

Where is that sheet you created? Would love to see a copy.
Can you even get a used GPU's for these prices?
Super informative video man, I had a question, I have the money to set this up, but I’ve seen a lot of talk about etherium not being profitable soon with how they might be changing miner profits, since this is one of the easiest and most profitable coins; would you suggest I wait till the change happens or should I just start now?
errmmm holly Sthieeet.... Not that bloody song mateee!! my kids made me listen to that all day every day 😵
Has anyone told you that you look like Woody Harrelson?
I can't unsee it now
Comment from Australia, are those prices including tax?
Would $2500 for a full rig of 7 rx570s be worth it?
@@devin19222 GREAT DUDE! Thanks for that answer, at least now I can see what it means. And the other question? I can buy those cards for the cheap, but cant figure out if they are still profit at the end. Ah, and a new question. I cant figure out how to make a password for my miner. Im mining in nanopool with LOLMINER, I want to change my minimun payout but it ask me for my password(email), where I can config that? Thanks again dude, big help :D

What you think about new series RTX 3060... ? Can you make video about that ? Cheers !!

Friend got my strix 3060ti off Facebook for $600, and her msi 3080 for like $900. You can find "deals". They are still marked up, but not by much. But hey, most 3060ti's in my area right now are being offered up for $800 to $950.
Yup! I got a EVGA 3060ti for $560. Not msrp but good for the times
That is honestly not bad even if you bought it over a month ago.
I wish your videos had time stamps.
Nice info. I can I tell if it’s profitable in my country ? Australia
My local mom and pop pc part store charges 2x MSRP....
Fast forward to today. 1800 usd for a 3090 is a steal....
Hey I was wondering should i be using stratum port or ssl for mining with my gaming pc? whats the difference exactly? appreciate your content
I bought 30 gpu all locally via offerup and facebook marketplace, i try find them at 160- 180 usd, for rx580 and 1060.
Does this actually work I live in a decently large state do you think I could find those? And is mixing and matching okay? If I could pay that for them I would buy 12 right now
@@Meilk27 yes!!! Currently mining at 600 MHs, trying to get to 1000 MHS with 4 rigs.
@@masmotorsports that's incredible dude I literally just started mining on both of my gaming rigs but I'm looking to scale up in a larger way right now. I realize it's so much foolish right now as there's going to be a Bitcoin having soon and there will be a bit of a drop in mining profitability and therefore graphics cards but then I'll lose time. I feel like the sooner you can get into it the better even if it means overpaying somewhat period.
At first I was trying to buy six 3080s to mine with but I really think that these lower older end cards and higher quantities are more economically the way to go. I mean of course it's more hardware and more things could go wrong but this stuff is fun to me and probably for you as well. I think I'm going to go the same route as you. What's the most you would pay for one? Any other good finds? I was thinking about going into small electronics repair shops and seeing if I could find any MSRP! Thanks for replying bud
@@Meilk27 yeah i paid 150-160 for rx580 and 120-140 for 1060s, im paying more for eletricity this route but i got 0.5 eth so far, so im prob 5k into it, with a ROI in about 80 days.
Any advice on finding a good deal on Thread rippers? RandomX machine. Thanks for all you do. You've helped me lvl up
Ahh, so best way to buy is to go back in time to last year, got it.

You need to run program called OMG ETHLargement or something like that with 1080ti to get better hash rate. They can easily get 40mh+.
Is there any validity in buying a gaming set up with one of the recommended cards to get going on smaller mining while I collect more cards to ultimately build a full farm?
sure do it a lot of people start like this 👍🏻👌🏻
@@sandbox3203 Thanks! Finally found a deal on a Gaming computer with an RX 5600 XT and hoping to use SonOfATech's video on the 5600 XT to get it running at 43 Mh/s @ 55 Watts. 🤞🏼

how much is EIP1559 gonna diminish the profit?
quarter? half?
I have same max prices as you. Only 3000 series can be a bit higher imo cuz resale value

@@RickMyBalls Sure, why not.
I feel like this prices are unrealistic considering current semiconductor shortages and import tariffs. I spent $1300 for an RX 6900 XT from Amazon from the Asus store. It has terrible ROI... but supply is so low may as well buy it.
Is it ok?
Ur program crashed. I get that on overclocking.
