    thanks for sharing Emily! We really don't do too many sinking funds, right now it's just Christmas & property taxes .... it does help but if we can cash flow the items throughout the month we don't worry about setting up a sinking fund for it.

    You should do the incoming sections but cover up the numbers. I always found how you do the layouts to be helpful!

    I love your videos. Honestly I don't care about your numbers at all. I just like seeing the process :)

    When you have your misc or any money left over, what do you do with it? Does that go towards your savings or for example with clothing, do you just roll that over to the next month so you have saved up for items or sales that you were waiting for? Just wondering because you did that big haul not long ago for clothes and that wasn't cheap, but I know you paid cash, so just wondering how you roll it over and from where in order to stay on budget? Thanks Emily!!! Also, IMO the incoming really isn't important for me, I would love to see though how much you were able to say, perhaps you could do like a quarterly update or something like that so that while we may have a rough idea of what you make it won't be exact and we wouldn't know if that was savings that had rolled over or been planned? Thanks again!!

    How long does your sticker bundle last?

    • @FavoriteDaughterEmily
      @FavoriteDaughterEmily  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jessi gut depends on how many expenses you have and what you track. You can always check the listing on Etsy to see the sticker sheet details.

    I'm curious about the price of tires! Would love to see a follow up of how much they actually cost you.
    Mine are costing about $1000 for a set for an 09 accord. I wonder if it is more cost of living (we're in Canada)?

    • @MarisaAndChew
      @MarisaAndChew 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL I am in Canada too and only a few hours from Emily, we get super wicked winters here and while I used all season tires I need to have quality ones and they cost about 1000 new for my 05 Grand Am. I really hope Emily doesn't go the cheap route on the tires because in our extreme colds and ice the quality of the rubber in winter is SUPER important!! I have bought like new tires before though and only spent around 400 for the whole car and they were high quality, so perhaps she is looking at like-new as some people really do get new tires all the time. My bro works at the GM dealer here and he says is crazy how many things some people get "changed" that are in perfect condition. The owner is nice and allows the employees to grab these items up and that allowed my brother to get like-new winter tires last year that would have been about 2000 for free!

      If I'm remembering correctly, we got 2 tires for my husbands Toyota 4 Runner for about $330 total. We're in California :)

      She has a family plan with her parents that she pays for her part of. She explained in a previous video that she pays her parents for several months at a time, so that she doesn’t have to worry about it every month.

    Totally understand about your new job and you must follow policy, so don't feel bad about it. I still enjoyed the video and will look forward to your sinking fund video. Car repair wiped out by baby emergency fund which was 2K... Yikes!!!!! So I have to get that back up again in the next few months. Then it's back to the snowball and I'm very interested in setting up sinking funds in the new year.

    It's illegal to be not allowed to share income, it's part of union & organizing laws.

    Is there a video where you talk about your new job?!

  • @nattevakta1
    @nattevakta1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I understand that you cannot share your income in your videos, and I would neither ask the legalty of saying you cannot share it as others under here has said, when I am new in a job.
    But I hope at some points you would share how much you have been able to share how much you have saved over a period of time. Cause that's the fun of following others to see how much progress they make it being paying down debt or saving. Not just what their expenses every month are.

    • @ExpatOnABudget
      @ExpatOnABudget 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree with you on this. Part of what I like to see in budgeting videos is their progress towards something whether it be towards paying off a specific debt, savings, sinking funds, etc. This is kind of a bummer.

    If a pay secrecy polecy is in the companies handbook, than the company can be taken down for it, because that policy is illegal. Both the federal govenrment and at least nine state governments have enacted laws to forbid such policies. Your company may be getting away with something pretty shady there.

    • @FavoriteDaughterEmily
      @FavoriteDaughterEmily  7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Ashford Wyrd the wording in the handbook goes something like this “it is frowned upon to share your income level with co workers”. As I’ve said before I will not compromise my new job regardless

    • @johnmcdaniel9071
      @johnmcdaniel9071 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Your TH-cam channel is not your co-workers. So, you wouldn't be sharing with your co-workers.

    • @oodledoodle
      @oodledoodle 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Her co workers could find this video though so then she would be sharing her income with them?!

    • @ashfordwyrd7458

      which is illegal to forbid, as it is a way companies cover up wage discrimination.

      Yes, because I'm sure so many people are intentionally looking for her on the internet 🙄

    Hi Emily,
    I have 2 questions for you - do you use a budgeting app like EveryDollar or YNAB? My 2nd question really isn't any of my business but I'm just curious - do you have to commute for work? Not sure what gas prices are like in MN, compared to NV but I would DIE if it cost me $300 a month in gas. I wouldn't be able to afford it! LOL. Thanks for your video =) Trying to start budgeting and I'm not very good at it so I enjoy watching your videos.
