    Watching these Mandelbrot zooms makes you insane after a while, they just never end...

    Whoop Whoop! A proper color scheme! Folks ... slo-mo is best with these things ... this one is tremendous!

    I looked away, at my desk, and found it and everything on it was zooming away from me.
    But seriously, glad to find a 60fps hd mandelbrot zoom. I was just watching one at 480p. Blech.

      Exactly the same thing happened to me. The wood grain of my desk was shrinking and contracting together. A small empty package from a protein bar was shrinking and shrinking. The wall was contracting and moving away from me. A house plant was shrinking. Every 4 minute or so I'd look up from the screen and the same things would be happening. Very similar to LSD visuals.

      I found i was staring into the screen as if it was a magic 3D picture, It really started to spin me out. The shapes start to rotate!

      It is pretty interesting that LSD is similar to recursive fractal imagery maybe our brain recursively operates at some level idk

      Thank you. Yes, the zoom path was a very carefully designed one. I invested a lot of time into finding interesting shapes, understanding how to find them and combining the techniques. The shape that this video was "about" can be seen at 11:25 where the video slows down a little. I have a still frame render of the three S-shapes here: fav.me/d762o00 and a version with one S-shape: fav.me/d6nv15z that also appears in the video somewhere. Before I attempted this I made a simpler version in a less dense area of the Mandelbrot set: fav.me/d6lom8a .

      The beauty of this zoom [at 70 million interations!] is breathtaking. I'm still in awe of the visuals. Will watch it many times to come + a post on FB. So happy that someone linked me to your work. On another subject, I wonder if you can explain this :
      Every 3 minute or so I'd look up from the screen and the wood grain of my desk was shrinking and contracting together. A small empty package from a protein bar was shrinking and shrinking. Saw a couple of the letter S in this one. Look at this one. It has the name of the MUSIC band SIXIS in it all over the place.

    60 FPS Should be available with the HTML5 player. Thus far TH-cam has only processed a 360p video. I hope there will be 1080p soon.

    • @PieMan59x
      @PieMan59x 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am getting 1080p on mobile, so I think that TH-cam is just glitching out.

    • @Dinkydau00
      @Dinkydau00  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you using flash player? I'm getting 1080p too with flash. As far as I know 60 FPS video is only available with the HTML5 player. Personally I'm not even getting 30 FPS with flash anyway, because it is too heavy for my computer.

    • @PieMan59x
      @PieMan59x 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dinkydau00 No, I am using the mobile app.

    • @KallesFraktaler

      I watched this on a rather new laptop and IE tells it is 1080-60. But I can't really notice a big difference. The original movie is the best, as always... 😊

    • @Dinkydau00
      @Dinkydau00  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      asdklfjdf The difference is very noticeable to me, compared to 30 FPS at least. The video moves very smoothy at 60 FPS. The bitrate is still way too low to cope with the extreme amount of detail indeed, but to be honest I find 60 FPS a better improvement than spending the extra bitrate on 30 FPS for a clearer image would have been. FPS is all about the feeling. With 60 FPS on youtube I really feel that fractal zoom videos are finally done justice and I can worry less about people not downloading the original.
      I also understand now why it took so long for 1080p60 to show up for me. TH-cam offers 2 codecs for HD HTML5 video, h.264 and VP9. I'm using Iron as my default browser, which doesn't support h.264 because the license for h.264 is very expensive. The developers of Iron don't want to pay that amount. In theory that should be no problem because VP9 is offered by youtube as well and Iron does support that. From what it looks like, it just took a lot more time to become available. Apparently youtube assigns a very low priority to VP9 encoding.

    Evolution of tress ? I wrote a paper on mandelbrot, fractals and iterations, and that is just a mad statement or title, although it holds the opinion typical for our time of pseudo science.

      Chaos Theory and its divisions is pseudo science? Hmmm, sound the alarm to all universities with physics departments! I'm sure Christian fundamentalists will agree with you.

      I think you're assuming uncharitably something about what the author meant. It's obvious that it's just a title describing qualitatively what the images look like and how he chose the path.
