I’ve watched many videos recently on the Arkansas State Police activity and I’m so impressed with the Bravery, skills, judgement and teamwork to stop insane behavior. When an Officer has to make split decisions 100+mph and persue discard for Law and Law Inforcement, there is nothing guaranteed. The outcome being so unpredictable raises the stakes. I totally respect the policy that Arkansas has taken. Not many States have the Balls to enforce the Laws. God Bless all that defend this Country.

Not much he could have done. At 25:16 the trooper states his pull cable snapped when the truck hit the spikes. And he obviously isn't going to run out into traffic to grab them just to save a few tires. Not much he can do other than chalk it up to "shit happens in real life" and have a chuckle about it later.
@@SG-us4gzOne of the life lesson I heard from watching one of the youtube videos (which is soldiers reaction to Fury) was "Stupid shit is going to happen." So, that applies everywhere, including dangerous jobs.
He did warn them the spikes were there and across the whole road, at that point it's on the officers who chose to spike themselves rather than wait for it to be clear
That was the single most effective spike strip I have ever seen. Edit: It is crazy how many people in the comments section missed the mentioned-numerous-times part where the spike strip cable broke when that big-ass truck drove over it, so there was no way for the Trooper who deployed it to pull it back afterwards like he normally would.
I hear ya. But, during such a deployment, had they backed off a bit more and kept a bit more space between units, they could have allowed for a bit more time for the first couple of units and the deploying officer to communicate to the others what's going on. This would have allowed, after the first unit or two got spiked, for the remaining units to maneuver around the spikes or give a second for the spikes to be removed. I know this would have caused the suspect to gain some lead, but given the area and empty roads, this seems to be a situation that would have fairly easily allowed for the officers to space out a bit more, or to have a couple lead units on his tail while others hang back some without any of this risking losing much ground on the truck. These guys can catch up on that truck in no time--especially considering that if the spikes work just as they did and he's got flats. Worst case is the spikes don't work so the units get right back up on his ass and try something else. I know hindsight is 20/20. And I'm not an expert. But, when using maneuvers like spike strip deployment, it is obvious that a number of different outcomes can result, including malfunction, so it is on the officers to plan and prepare as best as possible. They need to maintain chase while also strategically exercising the necessary cautions as best as can be done in the situation. My overall point for this one is that it's a good learning experience, and in the future, more strategic positioning could likely have helped.
What WAS missing was the 2nd officer either pulling his spikes back (after the first spikes were successful), or announcing right away that his spikes were in the middle of the road. I didn't hear him announce that until after a couple officers were spiked.
@@meridius- we cannot see anything definitive in the video; but we can hear one officer saying to he is still moving and another officer, whose car was 2nd or 3rd to the scene saying "show me your hands". There is nothing in the video that could reasonably suggest that the officer shot that final round just because he was still moving, and as a result I will give the offer the benefit of the doubt here and say he was raising his gun again. I think this was a tragic case of "suicide by cop" ultimately, at first he thought he might get away but when he realized he wasn't going to he shot into the air so that he was killed when it was ended.

Do you know how many innocent lives are taken at the hands of police every year? Do you know how few of those cases see any justice? Is there logic to giving cops qualified immunity? I would argue they should have stricter, almost unreasonable punishments, not lesser ones. A truck driver, being a professional driver, is expected to know traffic laws better than an average person and will have stricter punishments for breaking the laws and experience less leniency from the courts. Why do we not apply this standard to people who are running around in uniforms shooting people? Cops should not have immunity. One single innocent life taken under the color of law should mean public execution for the entire department... And their families... Cause we don't want their spawn coming back and becoming a murderous cop either.

All that excitement can and often time does cost innocent lives. I ask, who should die first, moralistically; the innocent person who died because of a cop who made a mistake and fear for his life? Or should the cop die before an innocent person? I argue, that the officer chose his job and knowingly accepted the dangers of the office, thus, he does not have the excuse of fearing for his life before he took an innocent life. The innocent person on the other hand did not sign up to be involved in police work. It should be natural to say that even ONE single innocent life being taken at the hands of a uniformed gang should be enough to have the whole department they work in, court marshalled, tried, and convicted of murder to the highest degree, and the department gets shut down, indefinitely, and burned to the ground, to send a message to other departments. that spike hit so many officers
The spike strip is equal opportunity, like a force of nature.
Big wheels need big spikes
That was the single most effective spike strip I have ever seen.
Edit: It is crazy how many people in the comments section missed the mentioned-numerous-times part where the spike strip cable broke when that big-ass truck drove over it, so there was no way for the Trooper who deployed it to pull it back afterwards like he normally would.
Good point.
You mean like, people paying attention to the obvious, listening, and possibly using their heads? Thats not a thing, c'mon now..
@@FirstLast-hs4gw He did announce it and told them to give them space, rewatch it moron.

I'm pretty sure this guy already made up in his mind that he was going to die. Another prime example of how we in the United States need to place more emphasis on taking care of people's Mental Health so things like this don't have to happen
@@jamesbias1200As someone with mental health issues this is not one. This is simply a bad person who commits crime and can’t handle the consequences of their actions. Soon every criminal will try to get out of punishment by saying “iT wAs My MeNtAl HeAlTh.”

I am convinced that without body and car cameras... Arkansas troopers would clothes line a speeding motorcycle driver with a rope across the road...
Nah they'd use barbed wire 😂
and then hit their whole fleet
😂😂😂 I watched them do a motorcycle pit. It was awesome!
That would be cool
I live in Arkansas and you are correct. The state police here is elite and if they were allowed to would probably use bearcats to pit cars
The first pursuing officer is a BEAST! Great driving skills!
I couldn't get over how nice the area was during the entire chase. I'd sit on a porch and watch the stars in a place like that. Living where I do I haven't seen a star in decades.
@jjohnston326
It IS a beautiful state. None quite like it. You should visit sometime. People who visit USA and only ever see the coast have no clue what the heart of the country is like.
This guy had made up his mind his wasn’t going to be taken alive. This chase ended the best way it could have, justified shooting, no officers hurt, evil taken off this world, no huge tax payer trial, no 2500 appeals. Yep! Kudos to Arkansas State Troopers and all involved !
Yes but I feel this person was different ...😞🙏

It was actually a scheme to get new tires for the whole department
I can’t imagine what what he was going through to feel this was necessary. I can’t imagine the stress this brought upon the officers and the family. I hope they all find peace in the end.
The perspective most people dont think about.
This guy was living under the Biden regime. Tired, broke, and enslaved. He had had enough, and the brown shirts ended it for him.
@williamnoble86 - he had 5 prior felony convictions and was classed as an habitual offender. He was sentenced to 15 years for two of those felonies. So he was likely on parole and was facing additional prison time.
@@drumingmasterifyHe knew exactly what he was doing.
We keep hearing in Australia how blacks are overrepresented in prison. Their families blame their life circumstances and also whites for the situation. It's all BS.
They live for this shit.
bro gets like half a mile to the gallon in that disgusting dually who does he think he's outrunning
Man I said bad words out loud when the lead cop got spiked. He dealt with all the black exhaust, crazy driving, gun shots, and pulled some amazing pit attempts. On the bright side troopers for doing such a great job you all get new tires. But seriously glad you're all ok, thank you all so much, and sorry to the loved ones of the bad guy.
I was wondering just how big a vehicle you had to be driving to do a pit maneuver on, what was that, a 3500? I felt the same way when he hit the spike strip!
If police work costs even one innocent life then the promise of policing has been broken and corrupted.
@@rneustel388 Yeah, I'm pretty sure that was a 3500

A hard enough pit would have done the job.
They were not pit attempts - just a nudge in the back. If a vehicle is heavy or has extra traction (dual wheels) and speeds are lower you need to increase the angle of attack (more sideways impact) and force.
