I didn't like how Ash's Torterra was treated in the anime. The problem was that Ash didn't adapt to Turtwig evolving. Paul's Torterra was strong because he battled with it through 4 regions. Ash only had his for a short period of time. He just needed to put more time into Torterra.
I mean ash used turtwig a lot after it evolved and it just kept losing, sure maybe it could of gotten better but that’s a lot of time and unlike cbarizard it never showed promise after evolving.
Also when Snivy lost to emboar and heatmor that is because of tepig, tepig was scared and just stood still and snivy tried to tell him to move, then snivy jumped in front of this ultra strong (combo move of heatmor and emboar) move to take the hit for tepig. Tepig then realized what he had to do, evolved and then won the battle.
I loved sinnoh but then they ruined the anime when they went to unova I didn’t like how all the Pokémon were different and I hated the beginning. Pikachu lost to a starting snivy when it tied a latios in the sinnoh league. Wtf?
Lo L Ash was a idiot in that anime. Its like they flushed down all character development in that series, thank god they didn't repeat that in X and Y though.
Lo L Don't forget the TERRIBLE Team Rocket intro! Also like you said, the Unova intro was weak as heck. The characters in the show talk louder than it.
If Ash ever learn grinding and get strong well he will more than likely win and the serie will be over....actually for the games reputation sake just make it stop this is annoying for the actual fans.I know it is is for kid but then when they do play they don't know how to strategize and how to make a good team
Ash want to become a pokemon MASTER not a pokemon league CHAMPION so if he win a league then he would move to other regions to beat other gym and league so he would become a Pokemon MASTER..
Marie eve Beaudoin ikr this show is setting a bad example all these new kids are turning out like idiots The average Top 10 video comment section is pure cancer
I kinda like to think that his journey in Unova was more of stepping stone to train him up for his greatest journey in Kalos. For starters, take Leavanny & Boldore, Ash hasn't had a bug type in his team ever since Heracross & Boldore is his 1st rock type, which started the path of him possibly getting another (Lycanroc). Thanks to Scraggy, Ash got to focus more on working with Fighting types, leading to Hawlucha; which he didn't get much experience from Infernape or Heracross. Palpitoad is one of his very few Ground types &is the only one that does not rely on Dig (which he spams too much on); as well as Sludge Wave marking his absence of Poison since Muk & Supersonic started the path for Noivern. Krookodile's use of Dragon Claw re-affirmed his use for Dragon Types & his Aerial Ace made it possible for non-bird pokemon (GRENINJA). Snivy's Attract was able to start the trend of revealing most of his pokemon's true gender. Pignite is Ash's only pokemon to start the possibility for his Starters to maybe learn starter only moves. I don't really have a lot to say for Oshawott except that it's the first starter Pokémon other than Pikachu that Ash has obtained from a regional professor, which made it possibly for Greninja
Very well thought out! I always thought that it seemed a bit weird that Ash had seemed to slow down a little throughout Unova after a rather impressive display through Sinnoh (though his use of Torterra was appalling), and followed by his amazing performance in Kalos. Some people will say it's because his pokemon didn't evolve as much. Not true at all. His Unova pokemon are for the most part solid. Snivy, nevermind the fact she got charred by Shamus's pokemon, I'd like to see any other tiny grass type hold up at all against those fiery beasts, even though attract is sometimes a bit cheap. Unfezant actually put up a fight against Pikachu way back as a Pidove, Boldore seriously injured Tepig as a Roggenrola and has shown to have amazing defenses... sure I might just be handpicking their best moments but in no way are they any weaker than say Swellow or Corphish or even Bulbasaur. I know I'm not referring to statistics enough here, but IMO the statistics are really owed to Ash's training rather than his Pokemon. So as you said it's more because of his own development and jumping out of his comfort zone that owe to the poorer results of his Unova pokemon, rather than the latter themselves. That's a good theory that may explain it... though the technical reason for it, screenwriting-wise, I feel may be because the producers seemed to want to make the B/W series fresh for the new generation of children, it's greatly hinted production-wise that B/W was greatly meant to be a bit of a throwback to the original series, as well as a bit of a not-so-direct continuation plot wise, but rather a whole new thing (the narrator reaffirming Ash being 10, Ash kind of struggling battle wise, as well as handling more small non fully evolved pokemon, etc...) But I do maintain that his Unova 'mon were anything but weak, and that evolution has nothing to do with it here. (no one ever rants about Bulbasaur and Squirtle ;) )
Taurus is actually not that bad of a Pokemon. Let me just state this. It defeated a Metagross, at a type disadvantage. Also he was unprepared for Alakazam, so was Ash. It was Ash's fault. Tauros also took out a Venusaur after taking a lot of damage from it. Tauros is honestly really strong, probably the strongest Tauros out there. So I'd like to say he would be at like number 10 or not on the list at all.
7:42 To be honest, this will be the only part that I'll argue with about. Oshawatt was fucking adorable, and a hilarious pokemon of Ash's imo, but he was weak on the battling side, and didn't evolve. I thought it would've evolved into Dewott and stop, but not once..? why..? he could've been used so much better..
I loved Snivy's personality and also Oshawott's personality but I so wish that they both evolved because they were so bad and useless D: I mean they were good at the beginning but than they just became more and more useless x.x
30% of people in comments are positive.70% negative. I checked all comments. And 70% people who think oshawott.snivy.torttera and totodile are strong. They are strong just in game, but not in anime who are owned by Ash.Half of Ash pokes are just weak.
Thank you! I like Ash's Snivy and Totodile (I really love him) but I can't lie that they weren't strong and had more loses than wins. And I love it how most of the comments are negative thinking he put them on the list just because of their personality. :P

Pidgeotto did have some victories. Misty’s Starmie, a random trainer’s Rattata before AJ, and Jessie’s Arbok in the Snorlax episode all come to mind for me.
ash's pidgeotto did have 1 win. In his gym battle against misty, pidgeotto beat her starmie, which was her best pokemon. i still dont disagree that pidgeotto is the worst though
rishabh anand I feel bad for Pidgeotto. The writers were pretty mean to him. Even in the Indigo League, they only used him because it fit the plot. Never got to battle.
Yeah. And the pidgey line had the potential to be powerful. Just look at Falkner's pidgeot. It took out ash's weakened Pikachu with one whirlwind and then went on to nearly beat ash's charizard. Had he been a little less predictable in his quick attacks he would have won
Nah you're right. Totodile was awful at battling. He was brimming with personality and was super cute...but he wasn't very good at battles. (His only Water Type move is Water Gun...)

Josh L. Whitney's Miltank is an absolute hell to fight against. Unless you have a Female pokemon on your team, you're bound to get punished by Attract, which denies your pokemon from touching it. Have a female to fight against it? Get flinched by Stomp, which happens everytime and I almost lost because of it. Got it down to low hp? Milk Drink heals it up.
Hmm, I guess you do have a point. I personally never really had problems with Whitney due to the fact that I always ended up catching a Bellsprout and evolving it to Weepinbell before ending up at her gym. Of course it wasn't always female but the fact that it had sleep powder and similar moves really helped me out.
Josh L. I didn't have many problems, too. Sure, Stomp flinched me 3 times in a row but catching a Heracross before facing her helps a lot. Just get Heracross to level 19 to get Brick Break and you're good to go. Also, catch a female, Attract hurts.
I never got this...maybe cause I had this urge to speak to every person in the game and traded my Drowzee for a Machop at the mart and trounced her as well as her gym...she's not that hard
Ash’s Unfezant: Unfezant (look I won on different battles and one gym battle that I win and the other gym battle I lost against when I got poison by a Pokémon).
Okay sry but most of the time it’s just simply Ash never sing them enough plus many times you mention like losing to Whittanys miltank was because he KNEW they couldn’t beat Miltank on his own Without totadile pikachu wound have won there were many cases like this no hate fyi
I kinda liked Snivy because of its interesting personality, its somewhat nice battle prowess, and thanks to Attract, we got to see more of Ash's pokemon true gender (which we hardly get confirmed that often); which also applies to Unfezant too
a) Writers don't want him to evolve his mons and b) how should they evolve when Ash's go-to method is Pikachu into Thunderbolt for 99.9% of all battles?
The Team Rocket Battle Pidgeotto had in the third episode shouldn't really count since it was two against one plus Ash was an amateur trainer at the time.
I think Ash's snivy was a great Pokémon because she knew how to us attract and was great against male Pokémon and excudrill is a ground time Pokémon but is also a steel t
About Tauros and Dragonite. You have to count two things here. 1. Both Charizard and Squirtle already battle opponents before Dragonite and took damage from them. 2. Drake's Dragonite was really OP, having more than 6 moves (just wow...) and Charizard/Squirtle barely did a thing to him. Tauros was tired too. Check the battle again, Tauros tank a freakin Solar Beam and still continue battling. Yes, still lost that battle, but consider the factors.
I loved that. I agreed with most of those, though the really early ones I didn't know as much about, given I didn't really start watching the series until middle of gen 3. That being said I also appreciated the background music on Torkoal... Wigglytuff theme... love it.
Tbh, I believe you went about the wrong way to make the list because you forgot to also factor in the opponent's pokemon strength. For example, ash's goodra might have the best win-loss ratio but think about it, it drew against Sawyer's slurpuff and sawyer was a trainer who was technically weaker than ash. The same also applies to alain's bisharp. Whole of Alain's team except his charizard was complete garbage. Which was why pikachu was wrecking pseudo legends so easily. However goodra was taken out by his bisharp. Torterra on the other hand, lost against one of the toughest gym leaders in sinnoh who was once upon a time, rivalled an elite four member. Also had an excellent win record and was bored of battling. Paul on the other hand saved his OP Drapion to wreck ash's team and paul was a trainer who was as strong or even superior to ash at that point in time. Same goes for tauros, he lost against drake's dragonite with drake being a trainer who was never defeated before.(champion of the orange islands), also gary was a trainer superior to ash and the fact that he lost to his nidoqueen isn't that bad. Anabelle was the second hardest frontier brain and mentally communicated with her pokemon which was impossible to predict and she was extremely powerful. Factors like these should be considered while making a list.
Stop using the word "butthurt" out of context. I don't even care. I'm merely stating a fact. From when did type advantages matter in the anime? Torterra was up against Paul's Drapion. Paul had intentionally saved Drapion to sweep a majority of Ash's team and this was even stated by his brother mid battle. Then again, you do realise poison is good against grass, not that it matters and torterra didn't have any ground attack. Paul was an excellent trainer and losing again his pokemon is not similar to losing against someone like cameron or a relatively weak trainer.
TBF to Snivy... had a type disadvantage against Heatmor and Emboar, and had to literally protect Tepig during that battle. Lucario, another type disadvantage. Emolga, type disadvantage, plus Ash was being an idiot during that battle. Servine because it was the evolved form and Trip knew how Ash would battle with Snivy, so he countered it. A Pokémon's strength isn't based upon it's wins/losses. Goodra for example, although it may seem strong...it isn't as strong as you think it is. It faced off against a Wartortle and Raichu, type advantages and had some help from Pikachu. Then, against Clemont, it would have lost to Heloisk, and it battled a weakened Luxray. Against Sawyer/Shota, fair enough it drew with Slurpuff with a type disadvantage. But against Alain, it didn't stand a chance and it was basically destroyed by Lysandre's Mega Gyardos.
Your comment also proves how bad Ash's character was in Black and White. I mean you can also make the argument he was the same way in the Kanto League arc, but he was still starting out as a trainer. He shouldn't be doing this stuff after going through three other regions.
I know he was bad. He had crappy Pokémon, had no strategies, and was an idiot during battle. The only Pokémon I thought were good for him were Krokodile, Snivy and maybe Pignite.
Mackem Fury honestly it's a shame how the anime made most good Pokemon bad anyway...noivern and goodra had so much potential in the series....pretty much all the Pokemon on the list had a lot of potential pretty
8:44- Eryizo, Ash relied more on Palpitoad for its Ground typing & Mud Shot. When it came to Krokorok/Krookodile, Ash relied more on its Stone Edge & Dragon Claw attacks than its ground typing. I also want to say Ash's Palpitoad's Supersonic lead him to use this move for Noivern, AND Palpitoad is his only pokemon that knows a Poison type move since Muk
Marcus Mapua Well to be fair, Poison type moves are really useless for Ash's team. They're only good against Grass and Fairy. Pikachu has Iron Tail and Ash always has a Flying and Fire type on his team. Poison types may be my favorite type, but it's not that useful
6:45 oh no grotle lost to an ice type gym leader, ash’s (maybe) greatest rival, the gd frontier brain of sinnoh, the strongest gym leader, and a member of the elite 4? I wouldn’t have expected it to win against any of them. That shouldn’t really count against grotle, it never should have won any of those fights.
Snivy isn't too bad , it's just that Ash's Snivy suffered a lot more losses compared to the battles that she won during her time with Ash and compared to all the grass types ash had , his Snivy was adequate at best.

Ash was a idiot in that anime. Its like they flushed down all character development in that series, thank god they didn't repeat that in X and Y though.

The average Top 10 video comment section is pure cancer
Marcus Mapua I agree
Hi
What about his larvitar ? xD
He had butterfree
Taurus is actually not that bad of a Pokemon. Let me just state this. It defeated a Metagross, at a type disadvantage. Also he was unprepared for Alakazam, so was Ash. It was Ash's fault. Tauros also took out a Venusaur after taking a lot of damage from it. Tauros is honestly really strong, probably the strongest Tauros out there. So I'd like to say he would be at like number 10 or not on the list at all.
what ever you said is correct
KingMatthew801 Didn't Tauros take out Venusaur with Fissure?

7:42 To be honest, this will be the only part that I'll argue with about. Oshawatt was fucking adorable, and a hilarious pokemon of Ash's imo, but he was weak on the battling side, and didn't evolve. Yeah. And the pidgey line had the potential to be powerful. Just look at Falkner's pidgeot. It took out ash's weakened Pikachu with one whirlwind and then went on to nearly beat ash's charizard. Had he been a little less predictable in his quick attacks he would have won

Okay
You can't count fights against Whitney's Miltank! Everyone lost at least once against it! Heck, even Red would have trouble!
Why is everyone having so much trouble against Whitney? I don’t get it.
Ash’s Unfezant: Unfezant (look I won on different battles and one gym battle that I win and the other gym battle I lost against when I got poison by a Pokémon).

can someone tell me how does eryizo make such well edited videos?

Oshawott would've been SO clutch if it had evolved into a Samurott.

InklingSethO samurott is awesome I had it on Pokemon white and white 2
Gabriel Sullivan I don't mean that Samurott is totally bad but there is a large amount of hate and disappointment to it even from Eryizo himself.
Yeah, its stat distribution and movepool is quite disappointing
Me starting this video: I wonder how many of these will be his Unova Pokémon.
Why doesn't Ash let his Pokemon evolve more often?
Peter Parker It's not him, it's the developers.
a) Writers don't want him to evolve his mons and b) how should they evolve when Ash's go-to method is Pikachu into Thunderbolt for 99.9% of all battles?
They could evolve some
Peter Parker because his first Charizard I guess, he's not a strong trainer so strong Pokemon won't obey him with exceptions

The Team Rocket Battle Pidgeotto had in the third episode shouldn't really count since it was two against one plus Ash was an amateur trainer at the time.

This was actually a pretty solid list
Well, but not even that factor can save pidgeotto's top spot
+349Games butthurt comment? What I'm saying is there are Pokemon even worse than those two which belong on the list.
+349Games hello No. I'd say Ash's torterra is stronger than all of Ash's unova pokemon. Maybe not krookodile(Disregarding type advantages).
+Gurpreet Singh lol Calm down kid. Charizard is Ash's strongest pokemon , only second to Ash Greninja but stronger than greninja in it's base form.
Ash's Snivy is not weak, she almost beat riolu who easily beats his Unfezant. She also defeated a Gothita and a Cinccino twice.
Yeah.

This was awesome ~♥️ I agree with some of the points made, some of them I didn't but you made them valid enough I was like "no... Well yeaaaa lol"
The reason behind torterra so many loss is plot armour for the opponent pokemon as they have to definately take a win to keep up.
6:45 oh no grotle lost to an ice type gym leader, ash’s (maybe) greatest rival, the gd frontier brain of sinnoh, the strongest gym leader, and a member of the elite 4?
