Let's go mountaineers. I think West Virginia finishes 9 and 3 possibly 10 and 2
I love the respect our Cats are getting, but I’m worried our team is too young this year to take the number one spot. I can’t wait to see what they do this year though
I don't think people noticed that UCF had the best offense out of all the teams in the Big 12 last season, and with a significant QB injury. Now they brought in two QBs that are better fits for the Gus Bus - KJ Jefferson and Jacurri Brown. And they brought in Penny Boone and Myles Montgomery to an already good running back room. They are returning good receivers and gained some good receivers. They added a bunch of talent and depth on defense and brought in a veteran run stopping coach. They get Arizona at home in the space game which sounds funny but ask ok State about it... Utah at home on a Friday night. UCF is gonna run some teams over. Like the content though and not hating.... I know most sites have them low.
I don't think anyone is sleeping on UCF. They have a chance to be REALLY good, but it all hinges on their defense. KJ Jefferson really isn't all that great. He had good years at Arky, but overall he's not an upgrade from JRP. JRP was a dog. I think you guys would have been better of retaining Mclain. That dude might have had some small issues, but he was a baller and was due to breakout.
The only thing that personally keeps me from putting UCF in the top 5 is defense. They could have a better defense this year, but until they prove it, they're out of the top 5 for me. We've already seen in the past how much having an elite offense and bad defense makes a team.. TTU basically their entire time in the Big12.
WVU should be number 3 or 4.
They have talent and depth and will be very good in 2024. Like everyone, the Mountaineers need to stay healthy but can deal with a few injuries.
Very interesting segment fellas. From the perspective of a Texas Tech fan, I agreed with the vast majority of what y'all said. The only thing I would have changed, as somebody with rose colored Texas Tech glasses, it is to include us in the UCF TCU group for massive potential. I completely agree with y'all that UCF or TCU is not getting the credit they deserve. Those are two programs with talent the the vast majority of the Big 12 doesn't have, and if they put it together have the potential to really string together some wins.
TTU also gets a rather favorable schedule this year iirc. Sleeping giant with ucf.
Looking for UH to have a 6-6 season.
Could pull a shocking upset.
WVU will be the team to beat. WVU will come into this season clicking on all parts!! Offense will be explosive, Defense will be explosive and aggresive, lots of turnovers. Special teams will do their part. Right now WVU will be the team to beat. Don't sleep on WVU.
West Virginia 4-8 2024 jamie
Cole Ballard is a stud of a backup. If JD6 isn't 100% Cole has the right keys to win 10 games
WVU is too low at 6. Sorry Smokey, you are still underrating my Mountaineers.
The schedule flips this year, and they’ll be cursing NB in Morgantown by November.
WVU is gonna win the Big XII championship this yr... Finally! Its been an uphill climb (no pun intended lol) since joining the conference, and Dana wasn't huge on recruiting, but I believe in Neal Brown and this staff and team!! And I believe this is the yr it all finally comes together!!! Great vid fellas! Love the channel!! LET'S GOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS 👏👏🏈🇺🇸
This is the year the imbalanced schedules flip on WVU. Does the state turn on NB?
@@johnlee7085so I guess your saying we go 6-6 or 5-7 because of strength of schedule?
I love the BYU spot it is a great motivation.
Yeah, if you finish 12-14 maybe there will be a parade in Provo and you people can brag how the tds "beat expectations" like your basketball team? Hilarious.

Patch is one of Utah's fans that everyone refers to when they talk about how unlikable and droll Utes fans are. No trash talk here. Just fact. Patch has 3 years of pent-up frustration. BYU has nothing to lose. Whit was crowing last year that they were poised to take it all. They didn't even win the PAC championship. Last time they played BYU... BYU was a lowly, crawling in the dirt, independent with no talent and no P5 recruiting. Patch has a right to be frustrated. Losing to a no talent BYU was disgraceful!😂 BYU once again 'has no talent' and 'has no coaching'... Whit realizes if he loses to BYU this year that Patch and his type will run him off. That's why they've already picked a replacement.🤣 Utahs fans, Staff and Adinistration have made no friends in the B12. Utah somehow was given the easiest schedule in the B12 this upcoming season and everyone knows Utahs only easy games will be from old PAC members. I'm pickin OkSt and Kansas to be in the B12 championship... it's gonna be a fun conference season this year....
@@trippint3883 ...and I'm the one with "pent up frustration"?
Just like when the Utes joined the Pac-12, tds fans were talking for all the other Pac-12 teams. Now you're doing it for the Big XII and your team has only been in the conference for one season. Hilarious.
@THEeyepatch11 How long was it patch b4 Utah won a PAC championship? No angst here Bro.🤣 It's gotta hurt down deep in the soul that BYU and the B12 had to save you from WaSt & OrSt's fate.... I get it....nothing I said however was fictitious. Just the unadulterated truth😉
Utes will play for a championship in year 1
OSU to B12 CCG. Poke Choke is sure to follow if recent history holds. No opportunity for "but we beat OU" for fans to fall back on afterwards.
😆😂🤣
Championship is one word my man
@@adventureswithreggie Very good. You're right... one word. Conference Championship is 2 words.
@@1185AspAve you don't need conference when you put b12

Sleeping on OSU and UCF
Not a bad list… UH will be lucky to finish 13
Yeah, their transfer portal numbers are crazy!
1 ISU 2 OSU 3 KSU 4 UTAH 5 ARIZONA 6 WV 7 TTU 8 KU 9 UCF 10 COLORADO 11 TCU 12 HOUSTON 13 CINCI 14 ASU 15 BAYLOR 16 BYU in that order
Cincy*
ISU plays 7 teams from the top half. WVUs schedule also flips this year. Week 4 will be fun. Reality check.
Arizona retained their two big dogs but lost far more to the portal than they got back.
I think the big 12 is by far the most interesting conference in 2024 simply because they have 7 different teams that I could all see winning the conference
Just hope others really take notice and it shows in rating
The teams in this conference are playing for the rights to leave some day 🤣this conference will fall apart within 4 years I’d bet
Any of Smoaks top 8 could win this conference and I think he is dead on with everyone but Arizona. I think you could drop them to 8th and move the rest up one spot but this is a great list.....
I would argue top 10. Either one TCU or UCF could have bounce back seasons.
UCF is my dark horse with the transfer of KJ Jefferson, Peny Boone as RB and a returning RJ Harvey. Stopping UCF's running game is going to be key.
Dark horse to make it to the conference championship game or all the way to playoffs?

Texas Tech will surprise people
I still dnt see how ksu is picked so high. Lost 6 on defense and 9 on offense. They lost to 2 teams bring back 86% of their roster. Its mind boggling. Avery will have to be better then the kc qb who lead tech to 7 wins.
Good knowledge. I didn’t realize they lost that much.
I think part of it is respect for the program they have built. They just develop players and pretty consistently win.
I also think part of it is laziness. People hear a narrative and just accept/repeat it without checking.
It’s like Arizona. The narrative is that they kept their qb and top wr but apparently no one has checked all the other players that portaled. And they didn’t get back nearly as much as left.
It’s also admitting that you have not even attempted to evaluate schedules when they are becoming increasingly imbalanced. While we obviously don’t know how things will break - obviously, isn’t the guessing what the preseason is all about?
Arizona is the most overrated team. Lost a lot of key players, and their head coach. WVU is my sleeper team. One of KSU, Utah, or OSU will win the Big 12.
Arizona is so propping up there transition based on the qb/wr, when they lost a lot more than they lost.
KU only plays 2 or 3 top teams. The schedule imbalance is going to become crazy.
You don’t know Arizona, but you will keep hatin
All fan bases suffer from Enthusiasm vs. Capability in the preseason.
We all operate in an optimistic vacuum during preseason
2024 is gonna be the greatest season college football has ever produced... and it'll only get better!!!
2024 is going to make 2023 look passé on controversies. The number of teams that don’t play each other is crazy. You could have multiple 1 loss teams in the Big12 and get skunked except for the conference champs.
Colorado has an insanely tough schedule.
They play all of Smoak's top 5 teams. Tech on the road. UCF on the road.
So the toughest teams at home and the mid-tier teams on the road. Just nasty.
I do believe Colorado is an improved team this year but they have a harder schedule. I see them as a 5-7 or 6-6 team this year.
Colorado is going to win 9 games, they beat TCU last yr without OL, lost to Arizona by fg, lost to Utah due to PAC12 ref calling back two td to help Utah win. Colorado had toughest schedule last year and only lost by fg or td on most of it games.
IIRC Colorado (and ISU) have the toughest schedules this year too.
1-5 in one score games last year. 9Ws means flipping all of those. Wow.
K-State's secondary must improve and someone has to emerge as a big play/down the field threat. The running game should be very good and I have confidence in the retooled OL. However, the backend of the secondary and lack of explosive WR's concerns me.
I'm not going to get all cranky, preseason ranking is hard. If you want to keep underestimating OSU, and making yourself look uninformed, that's your business.
Ucf will surprise you. Top 5 for sure
They want Colorado at 16🙄
Ozzie is for real , Cowboys will be much better , 2nd year def.cordinator is huge
biast smokey has baylor ranked too high
I guess these guys haven't heard of Ollie Gordon.
I agree w K-State at 1 at least to start the season but I feel like Utah and Arizona are I. For a wake up call the big 12 is way more physical than the pac 12
Man my Cougs really screwed their reputation with those blowout losses last year. If that repeats itself again we need Sitake out of here
1. Utah - built to win now and make a cfp run, but can they stay healthy?
2. Pokes - Always good, what kind of qb play will they get?
3. k state - very solid all around
4. WV - underrated as usual
5. Kansas - favorable schedule, but I’m not a believer yet.
6. Iowa State - solid squad, overachievers.
7. Arizona - overrate, talented enough offense to make some noise but it’s difficult to win year 1 with a new coach/system.
Houston couldn’t even beat the worst Cincy team in over a decade last season and somehow you have them better than UC below them??? 😂 UC will win 7 games.
Kansas fanbase does not think “Bean wasn’t that good”. Come on now. I think you didn get top 5 right. I’d just pick a different order.
Bean was great! He just had a few to many moments like the last play in the liberty bowl where he makes a completely inexplicable decision that did or almost cost us the game
JB9 was really good, but he wasn’t great, or there wouldn’t have been so many inexplicable ints. Love that he came back, played well, and ended even better, but great is a bit much.
@@johnlee7085 I’m not saying he was great all the time, heck when it mattered most he was pretty much 50/50, what Im trying to say is that his play could for sustained periods be great, if he had stayed healthy we could’ve had 2 more wins under our belt, and given the proper runway he might have given Texas a run for their money too
@chasefrench1864 What you said has a period after “great”. Highlights are always great.
Even good QBs are better than 50/50 when it matters most.
Having JB9 as a backup was great for the team; a luxury most teams don’t have.
Thank you for coming back down to earth.
From 14 to 6. From 6 to 1st. Let's go Mountaineers. This is the year!
@OkState, @Colorado and @UCF are the only games that concern me as a Ute fan.
Utah hasn't played well on the road the past few years and they could easily lose all those games particularly @Colorado which is the week following the team down south game.
Utah could be emotionally and physically drained after the return of the rivalry game. We will see how Coach Whittingham and staff respond against the Buffs?
Utah is built to win now, anything short of playing for a Big XII Championship will be extremely disappointing for Ute fans.
GO UTES!
UCF went 3-6 in conference last year and still has a long way to go. Granted they have been bringing in players but the Utes should smack them around. That would be an embarrassing loss and if they don’t win we don’t deserve a spot in the conference championship imo.
You are what your record says you are - everyone is 0-0. 2-3 teams are overrated & 2-3 teams are underrated, 2-3 teams will stink, 2-3 teams will be great; everyone else will be mid.
Most people from the outside looking in on Colorado are like nats blinded by the light, failing to see what's behind the light. Be careful...you get to close, you might get singed.
Gonna be a fun season! Yormark definitely has to find a way to capitalize on this type of conference where all the games will be fun and competitive and spreads from east to west coast.
ISU issue has been losing early season games.
Campbell gets them going big time but after 3-4 weeks.
I hate the unbalanced schedules as well , the best way to deal with that especially if we move to 20 teams is to have divisions or pods with a conference championship game
I agree. If the conference expands to 20 teams, they should be divided into 4 pods of 5 teams each, and pair the pods into temporary divisions that rotate every 2 years. Each team plays 9 conference games per season, 4 against the rest of the pod, 5 against the members of the other pod in the pairing. The conference championship game would match the top team from each of the pairings.
Unbalanced schedules are going to create lots of angst, but going back to divisions is not the answer for the future just as it proved to not be the answer in the past. That’s why everyone has now moved away from it.
ESPN's FPI has Kansas #1... just sayin'
The majority of the schedule is against bottom half teams.
Kansas has the weakest schedule of all the teams in the Big XII so there's that.
I guess you didn't read the article ESPN included with their FPI rankings?
What does the article say that makes anything about this inaccurate?
You do realize this is an “you are what your record says you are crowd” essentially picking the order of finish.
@@johnlee7085 Well... Maybe that's why ESPN's FPI has Kansas ranked #1 because of their weak schedule.
...and the FPI rankings evolve week-to-week so there that.
We will see where KU is at in mid-October? I have them 6-1 with their only loss @WVU to that point. Then finish the year 3-2... We'll see?
GO UTES!
@THEeyepatch11 If you read the article 😉 that’s what they say. They actually simulate the games played and don’t assume a team is good just because they beat lesser teams (WVU). KU won the last time they were in Morgantown and Ames, and KU has continued to improve against the best competition. Ooops, ISU gets a break with a neutral site game in arrowhead. That and the little apple are the biggest challenges.
No body has a clue how this first year is going to play out!
AAA,Smoaky back here taking a sh*t
Why did the PAC schools want to be in the Big 12 so bad? PAC was doing fine. Just needed to wait for a TV deal. AZ schools gonna hate travel to UCF, Cinn, W. Virginia, Plus they may add Pitt , Louisville.

Utah and Arizona are over rated. The Big 12 is tougher than the Pac 12. Pac 12 is like the ACC.
Utah will be good, their biggest issue will always be injuries. If their team stays healthy, they should be the best team. As for Arizona, I do not know since they have a new coach. I would expect them to be in the middle of the pack, just because it takes a while to adjust to a new coach
P12 last year overrated they had the best OOC record last year and the most top 25 teams? B12 fan dont become what you despise , an arrogant I am better then you perspective bc you totally are that on this post
Spot on!
You don’t know ball
@@carterkarras2894 I know teams that came from a lame, dying conference are all hype till they do something! Hush now. . . 🤫
What I see for oSu, IF the defense is improved in year 2 of Nardo's system, AND if we have a better QB in the program than Bowman, then we win 10+ and make a run at the playoffs. If both of those things dont happen, we win 7-8.
Thats the key to OSU this year. Every position on the team is good except the QB. Bowman might have high yardage numbers, but if the team has to rely solely on him to win, ya'll are screwed. 15 td to 14 int is insane...
12 Ws will be minimum for making a run at the playoffs from the Big12, aside from the champions.
@@johnlee7085 they have the talent to win 12. The questions are as innumerated above.
They have the talent to possibly win 12, but you also said “we win 10+ and make a run at the playoffs”. 11 or maybe even 12 isn’t going to be enough without a championship from the Big12. It might if there were more inter-conference games to validate the Big12, but at this point the narrative is well established that this is an sec/b1g tournament that will have token participation from others.
4-4-1-1-1-1
Any deviation would be ND imploding or sec/b1g swap.
LOL!!! The PAC12 was the PAC 2. Two teams Washington and Oregon. The rest of the teams were mediocre.
WVU up 5 spots
OKST had 6 games last year where Ollie had 125 yards or less rushing. OKST went 2-4 and the 2 wins were the first 2 weeks.
If teams can stop OKST run (very hard to do mind you) they will be very likely to win.
thats the key. Teams are going to be doing what both UCF and UT did to beat OSU, which is score fast and stop Ollie. Easier said than done, but if you can get a big lead to where they can't just rely on Ollie, but have to solely rely on Bowman than they are cooked.
OSU too low again. You guys just never learn. The disrespect for Alan Bowman is unreal.
It's hard to bet against Gundy
The disrespect for Bowman is well earned. What is unreal is the faith in him.
Alan Bowman is terrible 😂
Real. I actually think Bowman could surprise some people this year. Not saying he’s gonna be some All-American QB but I think he’s gonna be solid. Also he started to play much better towards the end of the year.
That's the best, though. Would rather have them low and then rise to the top. EMAW
Better than the last guy, but still clowns clowning it up
They admitted they haven’t looked at the schedules, which is essentially saying I’ve done halfazzd research in preparation for my job. Rather sad.
As a Utah fan who was alittle bummed out about the pac 12 collapsing, I gotta say im diggin the coming year. Gotta say this conference is looking pretty dam good and im stoked i found some great channels who cover it
Please justify KState being better. I get Utah. I dont get KState
Their only concern this year is OL as they lost 4 guys. But they also brought in multiple all conference dudes, and their average size across the line is 6'6" 300 lbs with a top 15 OL coach. It will only take 2-3 games for that OL to settle in.
They've upgraded or gotten more experience at every single position over the 2022 and 2023 teams.
Everything pans on how good Avery Johnson can be. If he is as good as he showed last year, he is going to be stellar. 12 total TDs in 2 games worth of playing time is a lot to write about.
