Oprah is not to be trusted. I don't care how rich she is, she's a wolf in sheep's clothing and it kills me how far up her ass the black community is.

I believe her . Oprah is a household name and one not to be reckoned with so I don't believe Mo'Nique would take that big of a jab and risk her career over false feelings but there is always 3 sides o the story.

On the other hand, would you say that because Mo'nique has already apparently been black-balled by them that she maybe feels like she doesn't have anything else to lose now? xx

Honestly, all four of them are messy, shady narcissists. And Monique keeps changing her story every some odd months. However, she probably has the most natural talent out of them all.

They didnt tell the whole story. Monique was got a oscar on a low budget independent film where she was the star. Ussally when this happens you to white actors they get offers of atleast a minimum of a million dollars. Monique was getting offered jobs but they were no more then 100 grand. Its kinda shady that if a white person wins an oscar they get million dollar offers but when moique said she wasent getting the same treatment the director said she was being difficult to work with. I would be mad too yall.

They are acting like she is bitter and she should let it go, but its not in the past its in the present. Being blackballed means she is still not getting the movie work she should as an Oscar winner. Also I have a huge issue with asking a woman of colour to take less, when everyone else can expect equal pay for equal work.

As many times before. I'm late but Monique said something different she was talking about the movie Precious these ladies on the Real are talking about comedians and how long its been since she first brought it up. They turned it around quickly. Monique is so right they pay who they want millions up front even before it Hits the theatres and we know this because its usually stated when critics give their reviews and comments i say why not just pay Monique and the other stars of this movie the monies and recognition they deserve they made a winner. she should not forget it as loni has said. ive heard them say many many times not to give up to others but i guess they cant keep it real again lon i is the spokesperson for all of them and. there we have it

I believe Ms. Mo' Nique. From what I know of her she always keeps it real. She is not one to roll over and play dead. If Oprah,Tyler, and Lee blacklisted Mo' Nique then they need to be called out for it. What Mo'Nique is describing is bullying IMO and I applaud Mo 'Nique for keeping it 100.

There's this girl who's an angel in school, her father sponsors everything, she helps everyone and is kind to most students even though they were filthy rich.. There's this One time she secretly bullied a girl in the toilet and when the girl spoke up no one believed her coz EVRRYONE was brainwashed by the good she and her family has made to the school and the teachers said "it's probably out of jealously so they brushed it aside" when that lady said she has been working with Operah for ages and she only does good deeds that particular story came to my mind.. Sometimes it can be true but since Tylor and Operah are billionaires and have done good to the public eyes we can't take it that they're bad too... When someone releases their anger they're so wrong? yet y'all made Donald Trump your president!! The biggest loser ever..

So funny how they chose to discuss this particular topic and Monique with Kim Whitley, considering it was Kim that gave Monique the advice to essentially stop being so vocal. Kim will shuck and jive for some change. Let Monique tell her truth - she's the one reaping the backlash from years ago when the rumor went out.

SMH I remember hearing monique talk about that. I think Oprah was heartless for that. and as for Lee Daniels I swear I hate that freaking Precious movie. That movie showed black women from low income housing in the worst way very stereotypical (welfare, obesity, uneducated, and etc...). Good thing Monique got an Oscar out of that which really shines light on HER talent not him as the director.

  • @ja.m9562
    @ja.m9562 7 ปีที่แล้ว +82

So are we not going to say the truth? Mo'Nique is hurt because Oprah gave Mo'Nique's brother, who molested her, a platform to speak on without telling Mo'Nique first. Mo'Nique didn't know that Oprah had invited him and her estranged mother to the show because Oprah told her that the only person who would be invited from Mo'Nique's family would be her other brother. Mo'Nique felt like Oprah LIED to her, which she did. And when Mo'Nique confronted Oprah about it, Oprah gave her the bullshit "I'm sorry if you are upset" apology. Then Oprah told her "I didn't know that they would be inviting the brother who molested you to the show" which is bullshit BECAUSE OPRAH KNOWS EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON HER SHOW.

It's a shame that when a person goes against the grain of typical, submissive Hollywood you're considered crazy or bitter or even a liar. Every dog has his day tho. I want critical people who are in great places in their lives to (including Kym & Adrienne who I used to love) to not get so far on their high horses. Where is solidarity as women with unique until they have ALL of the facts? As much as they hate when fans judge them, they're doing the same to Monique.

They didnt even tell the whole story. Look I was there and have pictures to prove it. The entire performance was great if I may say myself. The comment she made made everyone in the audience go "Oooooooo", or "Damnnnn!" We all knew it was harsh but we expected it from our girl Mo'Nique. We all praised her for her losses and wins. She talked about her discomforts, shortcomings, love and passion. Mo'Nique was just doing her and being ok to express it to her family, friends, and fans. I don't know any of these people personally however I do know their All. Grown. People and you can't tell grown people nothing they down wan't to hear or tell them to do something they don't want to do. Mo is in was in a safe place where she could express herself and heck we all paid for it lol. She did what she had to like it or not.

Lonnie and Kim Whitley are giving political answers to be safe. They know what Monique is referring to and the injustice that was done. I stand behind Mo'Nique 100%. she didn't refuse to promote she just didn't do the overseas part because of staying home with kids and no payment that came attached with the Canne trip. I love Oprah but at the end of the day she needs to ACCEPT this energy and live in her truth. Believe it or not if Oprah confronts this it when drive UP her network ratings because people will see that she's human and relatable

“Don’t have time...”? It does not take much for the extremely powerful to “blackball” others, especially in their particular group/in-group of their industry. It takes much more to fight it, especially when you are not equally as powerful. Many folks commenting are doing so from ignorance. Most do not understand that of which they are not part.

As a comic, Richard Pryor whom we all agree is the best that ever centered a stage, was direct about issues of race in America. RAW. Monique has a delivery that is equally as raw because that's who she is. This delivery is what has made her famous, filled seats in venues, especially the hardest market for comedy, the Apollo. What I don't get, (which is to say... I get it..) is Kim's remarks. Did I hear her compare Mo'niques hot tempered truth to being slighted by a singing group in the 60s? When I heard that my first inclination was Kim doesn't understand either issue; Monique of today and any reference to a Black singing group in the 60s. You dismiss the end of Jim Crow segregation as if it was the 1800s? The thinking that created it, only evolved. Keep in mind, you can count the successful or "working" Black actresses on maybe two hands in Hollywood, but it was the talented Monique who was tapped for the role in Precious, the role that earned her the coveted oscar, and typically with the oscar win comes a better tier of projects, a huge increase in pay-per-film, endorsements, as much visibility as they can milk for your "moment", but instead Mo'nique continues to be offered the same roles, at the same pay and basically the same career? AND Kim thinks "she's going through something???
Now, some would argue its her hot-tempered delivery that is getting her in trouble; at least thats what TMZ, The Talk and The Real are saying. If only she would keep her mouth shut and learn to play the game, she would get ahead, make that money...really? Are we really playing the same game? Do you recall the oscar win for Louis Gossette Jr., funny, he experienced the same quiet, back to normal that Monique experienced. He added more phone lines, hired more staff in preparation for all of the calls one expects after the coveted oscar win, but it never happened for him. What about the actress that was married to Mike Tyson, Robin Givens who took the nude Playboy route to jump start her career? It was a beautiful editorial, only, it didn't do a thing to jump start her career. There are many common denominators here; they are Black and they are not getting work. On the flip side, lets talk about the Blacks that are doing very well in Hollywood; Winfrey, owns 40% of her network, Perry, has his own studios in Atlanta and Daniels getting his projects approved for the big and little screen, BRAVO! Black, successful in Hollywood, only are they? Of course there is Denzel, Don Cheattle, Poitier with amazing talent, A-list productions and longevity. But the moment, indulge me, lets just focus on the Dynamic trio; Winfrey, Perry and Daniels. Lets look at the common denominators; they are Black, they are very rich and producing projects that tell "a Black story", not to sound like Mike Brady, but..."are these the stories you really want to tell.."? Not really, Winfrey had a awesome opportunity with the Henrietta Lacks story, but did more to focus on the White character and the Lacks family was none too pleased by the depiction. Precious was a very good production and very hard to watch because that character endured beyond the unthinkable, and of course, Perry and his Madea saga's reflect a socio-economic stereotype that Hollywood loves to produce under Black cover so that it won't make them appear as if they are doing exactly what they are doing, keeping Blacks away from mainstream projects that aren't ghetto. That's the game. You're the tail end, tell those stories and we'll give you the screens to do it. Tell the Nat Turner story and we'll go into your past and spin a story that will destroy your character and ultimately that film because it is an American truth we don't want told.
So, when Mo'nique delivered with passion and her onstage flair, it was not her delivery that was the problem, it was her truth. She operated under the her new level of professional achievement like any other White oscar winner and Mr. Daniels, who paid her nothing for the oscar winning role, was offended because he does not believe a Black woman is entitled to such freedom to call her own shots; after all, she should be grateful for whatever she gets. When White oscar winners go to Cannes, they are going with income levels that exceed Mo'nique's by 10s of millions, which means, they don't have to work as hard as she does for their pay, which gives them more options to consider when choosing when they will be available to promote a film and when they will leave their families. Will Smith is Mr. Bankable and he is always out promoting his films, but he also has a greater net worth. Would his wife Jada be able to make the same choice if that weren't true and she was the bread winner sustaining their family? Jennifer Aniston is box-office death, but she is paid far more than Mo'nique? I don't hear you raising issue about the fairness in that? I don't hear Adrian challenging White artist who culturally appropriate the Black culture for profit? Where's your opinion on that? This wreaks of income inequality, a lack of respect and consideration for a working Black woman who prioritizes her family too. If she were a White feminist she'd be on morning TV, with a billboard on Sunset with the caption that reads: I'M WITH HER. GET PAID GIRL! Instead she is being dragged through the mud by other Black actresses who choose to dismiss the stepping stones, on which they have built their career, that went through hell to be called an American Black Actress? Let this be an example as to why Black women and feminist have totally different agendas. Black women are the largest democratic voting block and chose not to vote for Hillary because of this type treatment and lack of support from other women who are not Black. You see Kim, some of us actually do our own thinking to make the changes that would prevent Mo'nique and any other Black woman in the work force from being disrespected as working mothers, a professional oscar winning actress and a passionate deliverer of he/our point of view. AND to Adrian, there is no such thing as "her truth", there is only THE truth and Mo'nique exposed it.

Loni: " I dont know what she said before, i dont know what she said after"Huh? Mo'nique talked about it calmly 2 years ago during her interviews and she also explained everything calmly on her periscope ... She's been saying it at her comedy shows, different place different vibe... So this wasn't something new, Loni you should've known what she said 2 years ago, about the situation. Monique may have her reasons for being mad. You are allowed to vent. But at the end of the day, she needs to understand she has to work. These people that she is calling out hold some position in her work place. I saw Kim Whitley on The Real. She did not say anything bad about Monique. All she said was that Monique have spoken about the situation in the past and to keep bringing it up is starting to sound redundant. She used the fourth Supreme but it would be the same if my aunt every time we see her at a gathering talk about her husband who left her and the kids homeless for an other woman and then build that woman a mansion. We tell her "yes we know" but our next respond is "and you showed him you didn't need him". All Kim was saying was yes you may think they did you wrong, she never said Oprah didn't do her wrong, she said she never knew Oprah to be that way. The fact the Monique took a 1 minute response, Loni Love was the one who really responded to the question, and decided to take 30 minutes to air Kim"s Laundry is just low.
I hope that her husband is always there. You may burn SOME bridges on your way up, but if you burn them ALL, the fall back down will hurt like hell.
