This is the way program tutorials should be done. Not just a mess of random mouse clicks. Explains why to do what’s happening. Now I have some hope of building a rail network. Thanks.

The idea of a street-running Intercity 225 made me chuckle!

This is by far one of the best tutorials I've seen yet. I've had the game for more than a year and did not play it because it was too complex I thought. The tutorials I had seen really didn't help. Your tutorials def made a difference, Great job!

Nice videos. You come off like a civil transportation engineer. I almost took a job developing rail lines not long after college. I went the architecture route designing custom homes, but now I am in Hybrid Fiber Coax engineering. Watching this made me think about that job and how exciting and challenging that it could have been....or who knows, maybe I'll go looking for something like it again. But I lilke what I do. Very nice touch though. I felt like I was watching a pro.

Strange choice of "tram". The Stadler FLIRT (Fast Light Intercity and Regional Train as a somewhat staged English acronym, the German orignal is "Flinker Leichter Innovativer Regional-Triebwagen, translating to "quick, light, innovative regional unit") started as the German acronym indicates as a regional train and became a family ranging from commuter to intercity trains. In the US they are in service at TEXrail and upcoming at Redlands Arrow (CA) and DART Silver Line in Denver.
However, as someone who failed three times yesterday for beginner errors from trying without a handbook I really appreciate the learning content, despite questioning your vehicle choice... 😃👍

Ha, I actually wasn't paying much attention to the role of the train I was choosing. I did, however, get a kick out of your comment. :)
Definitely an inappropriate model for the type of line, perhaps I'll go back and change these in the future.

Jordan, thanks for this video. So far, I have watched it at least twice; a while ago when I first bought Nimby Rails and this week when I came back to play the game. You need to give yourself more credit. This video is very helpful in getting started.
There have been a lot of changes in Nimby Rails since you published this video. Working through some of the differences was a challenge, but your video is still helpful. ;-) I am looking forward to viewing the rest of the series.

The game looks fascinating and your presentation is outstanding, which makes it all the more tempting.
I see one major flaw in the game in that the rail lines always bridge over the roads, which would make for some interesting rides (more akin to a roller coaster) rather than the roads more realistically bridging over the rail line.

This series is a godsend lol I had no idea how to transfer between trains, which is what I love about most logistic and transport tycoons.

I was surprised when I built out the Portland-Salem line from video #2. The trains started waiting on one another in the Portland station while another was waiting to depart. It appears that the subways were all built on the same level, and trains have to wait to come in. I know that before, the subways were supposed to automatically build out as if they were on separate levels. I wonder why that was changed.

When considering your tram-train what do you think about having the maintenance cost as low as possible versus the passenger capacity. This would allow you to set your ticket price to be at or above the cost to run the rail?

    • @JordanLeDoux
      @JordanLeDoux  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

On a tram line this is actually a much larger concern than most because the margins are so low. I think that if I was playing this on my own, without having to fit things into episodes, I'd pay more attention to that kind of thing.

I know this is a old video but do you have to do a Price Per Km and just do a bigger ticket price?

I followed your instructions but I cannot get the train to move. It seems to always give the error "lost or bad orders"

@@JordanLeDoux Sorry to say but I refunded it. I built about eight different test tracks and I could not get the train to start moving.

Chile is so difficult that every city unless it is Valparaiso or Santiago or Rancagua, as far as I've seen, has a catchment area of 2500 or less ... normally 200 D:
Chile is like the hard mode of the game
